We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property - walking distance to the beach (we could hear the waves from the rooftop deck) and restaurants/shops. Excellent support from our host, with useful recommendations for local excursions. Would certainly stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay very much. It was perfect for our family as we were able to walk to the beach several times a day with our grandson, had our own parking, and lots of restaurants and coffeehouses to walk to nearby. When we first arrived Wednesday evening, the area was very lively and crowded and we imagined a noisy night, but it wasn’t. We slept great. We had everything we needed and it’s a spot we’d love to return to

The pictures do this place justice. We really liked the closeness to the beach. The house itself is well-equipped. I appreciated our host and how they responded to our questions. I like that they have umbrellas, towels, sand toys, chairs, and boogie boards.
It was a very comfortable place to be. We want to come back soon.

Our family of 6 adults spent 10 wonderful days at this property! Please ignore all recent negative reviews: there were at least 10 large bath towels and 6 beach towels for our use. The property was cleaned very well!! The wear and tear of this rental is minimal! There is a brand new BBQ grill. People who expect everything to be spotless should consider rather staying at a luxury hotel. We also did not experience the few homeless people in the area to be an intrusion. The location is amazing - close to the beach and all the restaurants / Target/ CVS. Note that booking this propery directly from Ocean Beach Cottages will save you 10%.

We stayed at this property for a week. Everything was awesome with the house. We checked in with no issues, the place we clean and the property manager was responsive when I messaged her. The only thing that was slightly bothersome (and totally outside of the property management’s control) was that there seemed to be a large number of homeless people struggling with addiction in the area. None exhibited threatening behavior or anything - we didn’t feel unsafe. We did encounter some human feces on the sidewalk while walking to get food, though. Other than that, it’s a great property with great views and proximity to the ocean. We would absolutely stay here again.

We had 2 families renting together and booked for 7 people. The rental had just been cleaned & smelled strongly of cleaners which we didn’t mind b/c that told us it was freshly cleaned but the smell could be a bother. The couch & chairs were very stained & dirty/ worn in. There was a large hole in the wall by the stairs & other wall damage & furnishing wear & tear that made it obvious this was a turn & burn rental. I have stayed in many vacation rentals & we were a little disappointed about the damages throughout the unit walls and furniture for the price charged. On top of this issue, only 4 bath towels were left for 7 guests. There was only one dish towel left, though it was requested we wash our dishes before leaving &we did do that —it was inconvenient with no dish towels & no paper towels in the unit to dry things & put them away.
We did not receive helpful timely communication during our stay when we pointed out our questions as they arose. For instance we texted twenty minutes prior to check in whether we could drop off our bags early and received no response. We texted inquiring about dish towels/ paper towels the first night & received no response. Texted the next morning regarding the lack of bath towels & was told a couple hours after the fact there should be more in the closet —-which there was not & we had all already showered.
Any one of these issues on there own wouldn’t have been the end of the world obviously but together left us feeling a little soured.
I never expect that a rental will be in perfect condition but price always sets expectation & this was a more costly rental so I did expect good communication from the host and a better maintained property. The wear & tear on this unit was pretty heavy & could use attention for the price being charged & things like dish towels or paper towels & bath towels sufficient for the number of guests booked seems like a pretty basic expectation & the lack of helpful communication in regards to those issues furthered the frustration
I think the value of this unit comes from its proximity to the beach & town. Though the unit was heavily worn in some areas it is well decorated & generally cleaned thoroughly minus the yucky couch & chair stains. The beds were comfy. We were in a PERFECT location—right by the beach, great views from the top unit, walking distance to many restaurants & shops & the pier. That all saved the day for the most part from the frustratating parts.

This property uses both VRBO and their competitor for booking. We booked 10 months in advance with the booking guarantee. We texted with the property a few times and they even sent us all the information to get in…..BUT when we got there they had doubled booked the place!!! The people they let stay had not booked as far in advance as us. But they let them stay anyway. They let us stay one night in the downstairs unit so we could figure out what we were going to do and they refunded us. There was nothing above and beyond or anything that helped us with the problem. The guarantee is a joke. The property manager Kira, was nice but as far as “doing the right thing” was a total failure!! They say their calendars are in sync with both systems but obviously they are not. We had to find a last minute tiny place in the OB! Which is very hard. All our family got places around us because of this location. So the entirety of the trip we were not all together as planned. This is a “buyer be ware” location. Even if you talk to them. Have a back up plan or just go somewhere else!! VRBO could not help us find another place because there wasn’t anything available. we ended up using Their competitor. There were no hotels available either. Needless to say I would never book at this location again. Customer service should be a priority….. not leaving a family just out in the dark to try and find something on their own. Their competitor was way more accommodating and their customer service far exceeds the treatment we received using VRBO and this host.

Location of property was great for the beach. Homeless people on green opposite not ideal.
Bar-b-q very dirty, not cleaned and the TVs in both bedrooms did not work.
However views over sea and closeness to the restaurants and shops ideal.

Just steps from the beach. Access to the beach is just a few short steps. 3 bedrooms provides plenty of space for your family. Master bedroom has private bathroom.
Dishwasher and washer/dryer were used extensively. Apartment was cleaned well before we got there. Target with food and restaurants just a few blocks away. Would definitely stay here again.

The house stands out in the neighborhood, and is right next to the beach. We loved that we could walk to all the local shops, restaurants, and bars. It was really a great location...and I would definitely stay here again!

This worked out perfectly for my family of 5. Lots of space, less than a block to the beach, just as advertised. Convenient off-street parking for 2 cars in a neighborhood that can be tough that way. Loved the views of both the beach, and Sea World fireworks from the top deck. A very minor issue on check in was immediately corrected and we had a fantastic stay! Would definitely stay here again.

This was a great property for our first family vacation. Awesome view of the beach and less than a minute walk to the beach. Kira the property manager was wonderful answered any questions we had in a timely matter. Iwould recommend staying here.

Location, decor, amenities, cleanliness, friendliness - all terrific! We were just here for the weekend, and would love to have stayed longer. Views of the ocean and pier, proximity to Newport Ave and quiet street. Couldn’t be better.

Great Spot right on the beach! Plenty of space, natural light, great kitchen and very comfortable accommodations. Enjoyed walking around the eclectic neighborhood and certainly out on the pier.

Spacious and Bright -- Excellent Location
I was really impressed with this place! Plenty of room and good public spaces to fit all of our guests. Walking distance to the beach, dog beach, shops, restaurants, and bars. Great views too.

Great property with a fantastic location
You really can't beat the location of this property. It's at the north edge of Ocean Beach, so you're close enough to walk to all the restaurants and shops, but not so close that you hear the constant noise of commerce. The shoreline is so close that it's easy to pop back home to grab something or use the restroom. The three bedrooms are all clean and comfy, and the en suite in the primary bedroom is nice, as is the view of the ocean from the primary. My 12-year-old daughter especially loved the third-floor bedroom, which has a balcony featuring top-notch views of the ocean. Having dedicated on-site parking is also great, but if you're bringing a car, note that the driveway is very narrow. All in all, this was a fantastic rental for our group and I'd absolutely stay here again.

Lovely spot right near the beach
Our group of friends booked this spot for labor day weekend and everything about it was great. The neighborhood is super walkable, you're right on the beach, the house was clean and the beds were comfy. 10/10 would recommend.

Great Beach Getaway
This was a short getaway to escape the heat in AZ. The place was exactly as shown in the pictures. Plenty of room, bedroom space was great and beds were comfortable. Close to everything. Beautiful sunset views. We would definitely rent here next year.
