Pro: Great views. Cons: The dock area looks nothing like the pictures on listing (no tables, no canopy). The second master bedroom was unusable because it smelled horribly like smoke during our stay. We were reimbursed a portion of our rental fees for the non-usable room & one of the adults had to sleep in the kid bunk room. We travel often with our dog and always look at dog rules before booking. This place has reg cleaning fee ($195) and dog fee (2nights @$25/night). Dog rules were no dogs on furniture and bring a pet bed. Those are standard, however, when we received the check out info, it said to please remove all pet hairs from the floors and rugs (leave no trace). I emailed asking how we’re supposed to do this since there was not a broom to be found. They said there was a vacuum in the master bedroom closet. We were sent this the day before leaving & now had to factor in vacuuming the whole house before we left. While vacuuming, I noticed cobwebs behind both bedroom doors and along the stairs! I feel like I did a better job cleaning their floors than the “paid cleaners” that we all pay for. If you’re going to require this, it should be in the booking information. No guest should be surprised with doing this level of cleaning, esp when the quality of the subpar cleaning that we had upon check in. The check out instructions mention cleaning supplies under the sink and “rags” to use but there were none to be found. The outside furniture was covered in thick pollen, the outside table looks like it wasn't wiped all season. At one point we were enjoying the back patio & heard talking over what sounded like a speaker, we were so confused where this was coming from and then we realized it was coming from the ring camera above us. When we stood up & looked directly at the camera it had stopped. They had been watching us and didn’t realize that their ring microphone was not on mute. It kind of creeped us out and

My husband, my daughter and I went to Big Bear for a family trip to celebrate my birthday. The location was perfect, right on the lake so my husband could fish while me and my daughter soaked in the hot tub. It's also very close distance to the Alpine Slide which we had a great time at.
The views of the lake are incredible and can be seen from the bedrooms, living room and kitchen.
The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, blender, etc and the grocery store isn't too far of a drive.
The photos of the second master suite doesn't do it justice. While it's seperated from the house, it's only a few stairs down. It's very spacious and nicely done. It has its own bathroom and sitting area and TV. Perfect if you are traveling with grandparents or if parents are traveling with older kids.
The second master had a very comfy California king.
They were flexible with early check in and late checkout which we appreciated for this quick 3 day trip.
Why I rated 4 stars instead of 5:
- there was a citywide power outage on arrival and the property manager did not do a great job of keeping us posted. It was a bit stressful but it did come back on after a few hours
- the property sits on a hill so you have to be careful walking down to the water, the steps do not go all the way down so just use caution during the icy months
- you have to take the jacuzzi cover all the way off in order to see the lake but once you do, it's not easy to get back on because of the hill

Excellent spot with the hot tub outside. The neighborhood is pretty steep so bikes with the kids didn't happen. The place is in need of some tlc. The cleaning crew should probably get fired. There are about 20 mosquitos stuck to the kitchen cabinets. The flooring is starting to come apart upstairs. We lived the fireplace. The deck chairs were not clean. The beds were comfortable. The shower nob was laying on the floor when we got there. Luckily I brought a screw driver so we could shower. The kitchen faucet wasn't working when we got there but the company sent a repair man out and he replaced it by the end of the day so that was nice. It seems like the owner needs me, the owner needs to go out here personally and do a quality control on their cleaning crews.

The property is covered in spider webs and feels like it isn’t maintained very well at all. The dock is basically useless. The path down there is overgrown and near impossible to navigate. There is barely any water at the dock. The view from the deck is nice. The inside is older, very small upstairs. If you’re looking for a small affordable cabin this will do, but I wouldn’t choose to stay here again with more than 2-3 people. Neighborhood is nice. Good location.

I had a great time with my family in Big Bear. We were only there for 3 days, just a quick birthday getaway with the family. The property is run down and dirty. It’s not that they missed sweeping or missing towels, it just down right needs to be cleaned. The property manager only reply after we left was to defend herself and tell me how the property was up to their standards, quality control blah blah blah- if that’s their standards they need to raise them. Here is a list of grossness we had to put up with:
1. Dirty floors and no vacuum, a mop but no floor cleaner to clean said floor
2. Hair on master bed, and some kind of mold on the mattress when we stripped the bed - we did have to buy blankets when we were down there so we could sleep
3. No bed bug covers on master bedroom
4. Master bath floor had grime, I think from the dryer that is located in the master bathroom
5. Towels smelled like dirt
6. Every plate and cooking utensil dirty
7. Pine needles covered the porch - we swept when we got there, and when we left there were some but not the thick coating when we arrived
8. Internet sucks & limited channels
9. They scheduled a city inspector during our stay, so unprofessional
10. After I addressed these issues with the property manager and she said she would be getting back to me, never even bothered or apologized for the inconvenience of the inspector arriving and the poor condition of the rental
Do yourself a favor and don’t stay here, the house could be great, unfortunately it’s not being managed with care.

Everything was great! We really enjoyed it. Short walk to a great hike.- Castle rock.
Big coffee maker not working, NO broom in house. Also, a little disappointed with the non view from hot tub because the cover had to lean that way so you couldn’t see the lake.
But amazing views from patio & nice to have the dock for the afternoon sun. We will be back;-))

Perfectly Fine
House was fairly clean and as described. It was well stocked but lacking larger frying pans. Bunk beds and bed in separate room were quite uncomfortable, but master room was good. Location is a nice neighborhood, but a little bit of a drive to town amenities. Overall a pretty good rental.

Very fun! But docks need to be de-deseaweeded as it got suck up in our waverunner which ruined it & we had to drive back down to Costa Mesa to exchange as it was non functioning. Lower balcony on 701 needs repairs,it hasstructural problems. Docks gave gave us many splinters,the cabin owners need to address the old dock problems with its deteriorating wood. But despite all these things, we adjusted & had a great time. Thank you.

All-around AWESOME!
The house was clean, spacious, nicely decorated, had all the nonstick cooking pots/pans - thank you...the beds were comfortable. The house was so nice and warm for us when we walked in. Perfect location and access to the lake for nice walks. and fun in the snow. PLEASE THANK THE OWNERS! You are so appreciated!
This has nothing to do with the property, but the check-in process...we had to drive by the house all the way past the town to FIND the check-in area and read exactly what we read online and agreed to then be told okay, we will send you the code via email. That was a bit annoying after being in the car for over 2 hours, with hungry teens and a dog. Not cool..

Great backyard area for snow play.
The backyard is great. All the neighbors went to the slope next to the property to sled downhill towards the lake.
The driveway is slightly sloped and our van got stuck. Had to call towing company to get out. Be prepared with tons of salt and chains or cars that can handle snow.

Overall good stay
Our stay was in July. The house didn’t have central air which was a little more uncomfortable than I thought it would be. We were able to bring fans, I’d suggest you do the same if your stay is in the summer. House was nice and comfortable. The dock was very nice to have and use. The only complaint was there was no ladder for us to climb back onto the dock when swimming. They installed one for the last day of our stay. Also, the cover was not installed on the gazebo so we didn’t have shade on the deck. All first world problems but for the price I would have hoped that it would be the way it’s pictured on VRBO. All in all we had a really nice stay.

The dock has been stripped of whatever carpet that was covering it and is now a splinter nightmare. The tarp/tent on the dock is no longer available to renters as I was told (once we got there) that the homeowners have decided to only put it up for their own personal use.

I rented this cabin for my husband's birthday. In the e-mail it stated check-in was after 3pm we arrived at 3:35pm and I still hadn't received my check-in e-mail with the box code. I called in and they said the inspector would arrive in 20 mins. Me and my family waited until 4:20pm until we were able to go inside the cabin. Very inconvenient. Two of the outlets in the kitchen didn't work. The refridgerator side compartment apparently was previously broken so when we opened the door after stocking it the compartment fell off along with the items. Later in the day the power went out. I called it in amd the office told me there was no power outage on the website but we spoke with neighbors and they said it was out everywhere else and it happends frequently. Took about 2 hours until it came back. The cabin is nice but needs a little upkeep. Washer and dryer was very convenient. Overall the trip was nice.

It was fun, a little less than expected though
It was an awesome location in a great neighborhood. However, the house was little more beat up and didn’t offer all the amenities that were advertised. No boats and no shade cover for the dock. The property management was crazy about the parking as well. Otherwise it was fun.

This home was great for pets as each level had a gate. The outside handrails could use some sanding as one guest got a splinter. The hot tub lid is attached is such a way that you can not enjoy the view. There were a few light bulbs that were out.

Beautiful cabin with stunning views, but needs a deep cleaning
My family had a wonderful time staying at the cabin. Pros: Location! Beautiful views! Plenty of dishes, pots, pans, towels, extra blankets and pillows. Hills for the kids to sled down. There were even sleds already there for the kids to use. Alpine mountain and slopes near by.
Cons: cleaning fee is clearly not used for “cleaning”. Cabin needs a deep cleaning. Very dusty and grimy. Whoever used the cabin before left their trash behind in the front and it was never picked up. Animals came and ripped the trash bags open. Only property in the area were the Snow wasn’t removed from the driveway and the driveway is an incline so you will be stuck if you don’t have chains.
Overall we had a great time and will be back next year

Overall, we wound up having a nice stay, but it was quite frustrating and disappointing unfortunately. I will speak of both the positive and the negative. It was very very dark - very few lights in the living room - one of the things we love to do on vacation is puzzles and we were unable to do any because it was so dark inside. We brought lights up from downstairs, but there weren't any extension cords, so that didn't work. The floors were quite dirty. The bathtub didn't work (so our kids couldn't take baths). The front door lock was broken so we had to move a heavy table in front of the door at night, the master bed had a regular sheet (not a fitted sheet) so when you moved in bed, the sheet came off, and the toilet overflowed and broke downstairs. The first night we were there honestly sucked because of all of these issues. The next morning sucked too. We really wanted to go out and do things, but we had to wait for the handyman to come fix the front door and then the plumber to fix the toilet and bathtub. The good thing is that they did send someone to fix those things. The bad, we didn't get to go anywhere until 2pm because we had to wait for handymen. If I had wanted to fix things around the house, I would have stayed home. The location was wonderful and when we were finally able to go out in the snow, we had a blast. We tried emailing and texting the first night explaining the issues, but no one responded. That is my honest review. It was a huge bummer especially given it was our first vacation in over a year and we didn't get to relax like we had hoped. At least now the front door locks, the bathtub works and the toilet is fixed. Sucks that we had to be the ones to troubleshoot it all.

Great place! I tend to think many places in big bear smell a little. Do they have septic tanks maybe? Not this one! This was the cleanest freshest nicest place I’ve ever stayed in big bear!!! One of the nicer VRBOs I’ve ever stayed at. I can be hard to please. I think this place was better than most of the reviews say. Area was great too. Best sledding hill around is right next door to house. Be careful though some rocks at bottom of hill. Mark it with a snowman.

Cons:
1. 3rd bedroom heater didn't work without setting smoke alarm off,had to sleep in the cold(outside temp was 28 deg) :-( also had a bad smell.
2. No working deck lights. We had to BBQ our dinner in the dark with a flashlight.
3. Master bedroom mattress was completely tilted/broken on one side, so we had to sleep on a slant, which was very very uncomfortable.
4. Amenities state "Keurig" so we brought pods. We ended up having to buy ground coffee because there is no Keurig.
5. No extra trash bags at all.This made it difficult with a 4 day stay. No where to keep trash unless you drove to the dump daily.
6. Cleanliness was a bit lacking. Dusty,spider webs inside,and table decor, could have used a good vacuum for the price of rental.
7. Bathroom showers were very difficult to adjust hot/cold due to outdated faucet handles. I took a scalding hot shower in the master bedroom while my mother in law couldn't get the hot water to work in the 3rd bedroom bath.
8.Wood deck staircase leading to 3rd bedroom needs some major sanding. Holding on while climbing up/down gave a few of us splinters.
Overall our stay was great. We loved the location and couldn't have asked for a more beautiful view of the lake. As stated above, the late check out at no extra cost was a wonderful plus! Biggest complaint would have to be the heater not working and the

There were young children on the trip and I was never told that the third bedroom is detached from the main home! We had to keep the young children in the main home because it was too cold to be taking the children back and forth at night. The kitchen was disorganized and there were dishes and pans that were dirty! I slept in the master bedroom downstairs and the mattress did not fit the bed. The mattresses under the top mattress did not have sheets on them. We were not satisfied at all with the cabin and will not return.
