The pace was clean , is fully equiped ,the bbq had propaneis within walking distance to the lake , and a shortbdrice to town, and Donner state park, a short drive to Lake Tahoe ,very cute house. The only thing is that for the summer the home does not have air-conditioning and if its hot out side it can get up to 80 or 79degrees inside the house they have fans and it helps to be able to sleep at night, but it gets hot. Otherwise the home is great and comfortable and quiet neighborhood. We would visit there again.it was great.

The house is clean and the perfect size for a family of four and a dog! It's also in a great location. The public docks can be accessed on foot in less than one minute, and downtown Truckee is only five minutes by car.

Everything was as expected- no air conditioning but screens on the windows and fans for each room made it comfortable. The location is great - right across the street from Donner Lake access on the public piers and just a short walk to the private beach and state park.
The house was perfect for our family of 6 adults. It was great to have access to the Tahoe-Donner resort and beach facilities for $20 pp/ per day. We look forward to coming back.

This house was in an amazing location, perfect for boating with our own inflatable raft and kayak (which we could store in the garage). Two public piers and a small beach area are just 200 ft away. They were will stocked for beach and water fun, with beach chairs and sand toys and a small inflatable lounge chair for the kids. The kitchen had all the supplies needed. The house was clean and comfortable, and the local host was very helpful when we had questions. I would highly recommend.

As advertised. The best part about this property is the location. Close to everything but somehow out of the way. The rooms are all clean. The house is warm. Not the most luxurious. But the furnishings are comfortable clean and well maintained. All of the appliances and amenities work fine.

My family and I wanted to love this house, but there was a lot in the listing that wasn’t accurate.
-Near the lake and ski areas: True
-Total Privacy: False, it felt like all the other houses are right on top of you.
-Outstanding Views: False. You can see the lake from the house, but the view is through houses, across a busy road, and you can only see a sliver of water.
-With a vacant lot next door: False. I suspect there was a vacant lot at one time but it has been built on. The pictures of the outside with no house between you and the lake is out of date and my biggest letdown.
-High speed internet: False. We connected to the WiFi easily but could barely get online. Several internet speed tests came back with 6-8 mps.
-Quality amenities throughout: Mostly false. The flooring was very nice and the family room was comfortable, but the house has a lot of deferred maintenance. Paint peeling, rusted out vents, and rusted racks in the showers made the house feel run down.
-Quality linens: False. Sheets were rough and the bedding felt like it was from the 80s. Be warned that the beds are very firm, I felt sore in spots when I woke up.
-Access to Donner Rec Facilities: true but misleading. You do have passes but it will cost you $20/person to swim at the pool or $12/person to go to the beach.
It is very close to the lake though and the host is a very nice person. But we felt pretty let down by the house itself; I wish I had known the above ahead of renting.

Nice little house by Donner Lake. Clean interior with plenty of bedrooms and sleeping areas. Fully stocked kitchen and laundry facilities and easy check in. The house is a 2 minute walk to a cluster of public piers on Donner Lake which we found to be very convenient during this year of high water and little "beach" areas. The one major drawback is that Donner Pass Rd. which runs around the Lake and is between you and the lake is busy with cars driving VERY fast. Can' just let the kids run down to the lake. But otherwise this house is in an ideal location to access Donner Lake, Truckee Downtown and pop over to Tahoe if you want. If you are looking for a huge house ON the lake with giant panoramic view windows, there are plenty of them available, but that's not what this is. Overall found it ideal for our family.

My trip to Karri’s vacation house was cut short. We took a walk on the public pier across the road from the house. Be careful these public piers don’t have marking when there is a step and I mistep and twisted my ankle and fell in shallow waters. Ended up being a fractured ankle. But going back to Karri’s place , she is a gracious host and the place is clean and fully equipped with everything. The house is a few steps to Donner Lake. Highly recommend. I will be back one of these days. Thank you Karri

The home had not been cleaned when we arrived. It was raining cats and dogs and we had our old dog with us. We had to wait in the garage for two hours while a cleaning crew cleaned the home from the last people.

This house is just perfect. The kitchen was a delight to prepare food in.
A short walk to the beach was enjoyed several times a day. We were pleased that our small dog could be accommodated.

This house is nothing fancy, and doesn’t have much classic Sierra cabin feel, and no great views, but it’s very comfortable and clean with lots of dishes and cooking stuff and comfortable furniture. Great location very close to Donner Lake.

We stayed with family and brought our dog. Place was nice and clean, no traces of other dogs when you come into house. Views of the lake from the house. We will definitely stay here again. We loved spending our days on the lake and sight seeing.

Cozy house with an amazing host
The house is half a block from Donner lake. Truckee businesses are close by as well as the entrance to the I-80. The house is compact and convenient - single floor with three bedrooms, kitchen and family room with plenty of sitting spaces.
We were there during a huge winter storm with several feet of snow. The street and the driveway were cleaned regularly, at least once a day. On the side of the house the pile of snow was great for kids to play. We also brought a dog who enjoyed walks around the neighborhood.
Both the owner and local contact were responsive via text and very helpful. We felt truly welcomed in the house.
We would definitely stay here again.

Lake Relaxation
My family of 4 and our little French Bulldog Wilbur had an amazing stay on Lake Donner! This home was perfect walking distance to the beach and you quickly learn the beach and pier etiquette. You can share beach and piers with others and everyone was so friendly. Very easy to rent paddle boards and kayaks and dock them on the beach that is just steps from the house. My family and I would return to this home in a heart beat! It was a great getaway before the crazy school year started!

We went to Donner lake during Covid. Crazy summer but we wanted to get out. Two houses off the lake and very dog friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Perfect to enjoy Donner Lake
The lake and piers are a short walk away in a peaceful neighborhood. We enjoyed relaxing in the home with our family, our dog, cooked often and walked to the water multiple times a day!! The owners checked in often and made us feel so welcome. So much that we're coming back again!

Great location for skiing
It's a quick drive back to I-80, 89, Safeway, etc. in one direction and a straight shot to Sugar Bowl in the other. Very convenient location.
In terms of comfort, clearly feels like a rental house and not somebody's vacation home - furnished in a sturdy though comfortable way for maximum wear and tear resistance, so to speak. Nothing fancy, but everything complete. Master bed was comfortable with nice pillows and sheets, and other two bedrooms I assume the same - large beds in each.
Hosts are very responsive and accommodating.
Note: garage doors are regular height, and there is no street parking - driveway or (to hosts' preference, though it's a squeeze) side of house are the only places to put a taller vehicle (e.g. SUV with gear shell on top).

Pretty good stay
The best part of our stay was the 30 second walk across the street to the lake. I mean you really cannot beat the view/access that the home had to offer. That may change soon as new construction is coming up in the empty lots next to it. Overall the home was clean but upon further inspection needed a much deeper clean in the corners/crevices. It is also in need of quite a few repairs and upgrades around the front/back deck and bathroom areas. We needed more space but for a small family it would definitely work. Finally the overview of the house promises family games but none are onsite which was disappointing for my girls and would have been nice to know since we could have brought our own. If you are looking for a close stay to the lake this is your spot! Just be aware there is a lot of traffic on Donner pass road and the I-80 highway above.

Easy Three Day Weekend with The Family!
Great spot. Easy to get to. The house is one block from the lake - very short walk. There are three public piers and an easy beach to go during the day. Plenty of hiking, cycling, and fun on the lake. The house is clean and has all you need. The owners are easy and fast to respond to any questions or concerns.
All you need to do is get there!
No one has mentioned this in previous reviews but you do hear Hwy 80 from the house. However any house you rent up here you will hear the highway. You get used to it pretty fast.

Very relaxing stay and the house was nicely equipped with all essentials. The owners instructions were clear and helpful.

We had a great time and highly recommend it for those wanting to be close to the water but want to have a more relaxing experience than dealing with all the people and traffic of Lake Tahoe. Donner Lake is wonderful and the house is in a great location.

Outstanding vacation for 3 children, 3 adults, and a dog!
This is a comfortable, well-appointed home for a relaxed vacation. Nothing was missing! Plenty of space for our boat and trailer. The boat launch was minutes away. We could swim by walking 2 minutes down the street (though crossing the Donner Pass Road always requires caution). We were within walking distance to the Tahoe/Donner Marina facilities and the wonderful Donner State Park where our dog found great pleasure in watching the squirrels and sniffing out the other visitors. We loved hiking, swimming, paddle boarding, and canoeing. The neighbors and other dogs were friendly and helpful. The other Tahoe/Donner facilities were thoroughly enjoyable! The children spent one day in camp and one day exploring, practicing archery, and swimming. I loved the Zumba Aerobics in the big pool where we also enjoyed the hot tubs and lap swimming. There was no time to try the other wonderful fitness facilities, tennis, golf, etc.
In all, the week whizzed by and we, the grandparents, have arrived home exhausted, but happy. Looking forward to next year!

Beautiful lakeside retreat. Perfect for my family
The property is well kept and has all the comforts of home. Perfect location to access all my favorite ski resorts. Property comes with homeowner access to Donner Association. Dinner ski resort is perfect for kids learning to ski. The homeowners are accessible and called to make sure our arrival to the home was to my satisfaction. Love that!

Fantastic House Right on the Lake
Super clean and inviting house and very well equipped, it even had travel size toiletries in the bathroom! The location was close to everything, skiing, shopping, restaurants, night life and right on Donner lake! We took a morning walk to Donner park and enjoyed some of the trails where you can showshoe in the winter. We went to downtown Truckee one night for dinner and had a geat time walking in town. We had such a great time in the winter I cant wait to book it for the summer!

Had a wonderful stay at Donner Lake. The open lot Nextdoor was lots of fun for the kids and the dog. House was great, could use a little minor TLC. We couldn't use the deck because it was filled with snow when we got here. But that happens in Tahoe and there were many shovels provided in the garage we could use. Perfect house for dog owners! Would come again.

Great place, Awesome location!
Betty was easy, helpful and respectful to work with regarding any questions/concerns I had about my stay with my family. The house was exactly as pictured and the lake views were wonderful. My wife enjoyed daily reading her kindle while sitting in the bed with the sunshine on her while viewing the lake. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked with everything needed. The house was very functional and the internet was plentiful in terms of speed with each of us using our devices routinely/constantly at times. We were 18 minutes from Squaw valley ski resort which was amazing. My wife and I will strongly consider returning in the summer time if the Donner Lake House is available. Overall, this place was high on value and function for our familiy. It is without hesitation, we give it our "Highest Recommendation!" :)

We enjoyed this well-equipped cabin, The lake across, the convenience to downtown Truckee and recreational facilities. The vacant lot would be great for sledding next time we come up to ski. The beds were very comfortable, and I would recommend this house to others. Thank you for a memorable stay.
