We wanted to take our four young kids to the “big city” for vacation and stumbled across this listing. I’m SO glad we did! Literally the perfect spot for ALL things downtown Chicago. The view is breathtaking, apartment is SO clean and the amenities are the cherry on top! Owner was super fast to respond with any questions. Grocery store attached to the building, bus stops right across the street. Best VRBO experience we’ve had BY FAR.

The pictures are what you get. My kids thought I was pranking them when we walked in. Wonderful views of the city and lake. There's a red line stop right outside the front door and a grocery store in the same building, so we were able to park in the garage and either walk or take transit anywhere we wanted to go (we drove to Chicago). It will be a memory for us all to keep.

Incredible views! The location couldn’t be better. Metro stop is on the corner, and made getting around a breeze. The doorman of the building was so nice, and gave us great recommendations for food, etc. We had our kids with us and they enjoyed the pool.
Expect very thorough instructions about check in and check out. We very much enjoyed our stay, but were a little stressed out by the fact that the place says it’s kid friendly, but then had very strict rules about not touching windows, no running, no loud voices. All reasonable requests, but with three boys we might have thought twice about staying given the expectations.
Overall, the stay was great and the owners were very responsive when there was an issue with the tv. We would definitely stay again.

We had an incredible family trip visiting Chicago , staying at this spacious and well appointed apartment. The views of the Chicago skyline were stunning, and it was located in a central area walkable to tourist sites and restaurants we loved. The outdoor swimming pool made our August stay an incredible summer trip. Loved it!

This gorgeous penthouse provided amazing city views and welcoming accommodations that set the perfect scene for our birthday/graduation celebrations. Amazing downtown location with groceries and lots of restaurants nearby. Would highly recommend!!

5 stars isn't enough for this amazing place. The pictures and the description don't even come close to how perfect it is. The views are spectacular (you can see the Navy Pier fireworks from the balcony!). You could walk to just about anything, and for those things you can't walk to the Red Line is literally right underneath you. The Big Bus also picks up 2 blocks away. No car needed, just get a CTA card and go explore!
Our party of 6 had ample space to spread out and everybody was comfortable. If you are looking for the perfect place this is it!!!

Amazing views day and night of the city and lake! Perfect location within walking distance for amazing food, shopping, and quick access to public transportation! The option to park in the garage associated with the building was also a bonus for our family that lived locally to visit! This beautiful and spacious penthouse allowed us the space to relax and enjoy restful times as well as the necessities to prepare to attend our daughter’s optometry school graduation ceremony! If we have the opportunity to return to Chicago again for a visit, this place will be the first “vacation planning item” we book!
We are grateful for the space, time, location, and beauty this place provided for our family to be together in Chicago!

Location, location, location. If seeing downtown is a primary reason for coming to Chicago, then its hard to beat this location. Literally everything is walkable. Views, views, views. Chicago is an architectural wonder and so many of those wonders are visible from the apartment. Great communication from the owners, we are fairly low maintenance, and didn't need to reach out for anything, but they give you all of the information you need. Having a full gym available is a huge plus. Centrally located so it was easy for us to get to Wrigley and the the United Center. We are coming back to Chicago soon and hopefully we will be staying here!

Spectacular views and Near North location - easy to get to all of our favorite places - lake, riverfront, Gold Coast, Old Town and Lincoln Park. Great fitness center and front desk staff. Grocery in the building and many others nearby. Shopping and restaurants just within a few blocks. Spacious condo with amenities. Nice that second bedroom has two beds. Owners make themselves available. Hope to return in the summer to use the pool!

The location of this property and views were outstanding. WiFi did not work the majority of our visit. HOWEVER-- the big issue was the $650 charge (note this is the most that is allowed to be charged) for 'damages' to the property. Some of the 'damages' ranged from ridiculous (a picture of the inside of the trashcan lid with some food on it), to breakage of a glass (which I had immediately reported via text to the owner when it occurred), to those we know we did not do (damage to a comforter inside a duvet cover), and some pictures that were sent of 'damage' that we could not even identify an issue with. Plan to tack on an extra few hundred dollars to the posted price even if you do everything you can to take care of the property (I have never received a negative review on our many, many stays in VRBO properties). Would NOT recommend staying in any of this owner's properties.

Beautifully appointed with all kitchen utensils imaginable. Doormen were very friendly and helpful. My granddaughter enjoyed the basketball court. Needs some updating of electronics to facilitate streaming. Also needs to replace blinds in bedrooms which are quite worn and difficult to operate.

The location is absolutely central to everything. The accommodations are very comfortable and the views of the city are absolutely amazing. This is my second time staying here. Would definitely stay here again.

This was a great stay. The hosts thought of everything we didn't or it wasn't practical to bring. The view was gorgeous. The amenities were well used and they were great. Everything was acceptable and as advertised. Very important to get the parking discount if available. The parking was the only thing that weighed a bit on my mind, but it was very convenient within the building. Although I am posting this before the final checkout, from our families perspective, this was experience to recommended. 👍

We loved our stay at the Grand Plaza. This is the second time we have stayed at this property.. I love the convenience of the grocery store and the red line both right next door. The views are amazing as well. We loved the ninth floor with the basketball court, and pool table. We will definitely stay there again.

We stayed on the 53rd floor which was awesome, I would also like to give thanks to I believe the doormans name is (Chris)who was soo accommodating, kind and professional....Not to criticize anyone but just a suggestion.. the living room sofa in front of the TV is really worn-out. Our stay was great up until our departure when the owners tried to charge more money for an extra cleaning, which was a surprise because we didn't have any parties, no loud music and we ate out 99% of the time...so stay aware!! I've been using VRBO for many years without any complaints from owners before so this was kind of strange...ps I've also had nothing less of great experiences when using VRBO...thanks Penny J.

I stayed here with a group of friends for a conference that was held in downtown Chicago. We didn’t want to stay at the conference hotel so we opted for this place, and we are so glad that we did! Not only were the amenities amazing (pool, sauna, workout space) but we had ample space in the apartment for 8 adults and enjoyed spectacular views of the Chicago skyline- especially with sunrise. The sleeping arrangements were fine for all 8 of us (again, we are friends so beds were shared and the couches were used) and for the same price as an expensive downtown hotel we had a full kitchen and dining space to hang out together during our downtime. If you’re looking to stay downtown then this really is a good deal for a group of people!

7 of us ranging in age from 13 to 82. Beautiful 53rd floor penthouse. Great location with views all the way down State St. to the south and Lake Michigan to the east. Condo was spotless clean with kitchen fully equipped with dinnerware and cooking tools. Highly recommended without qualifications.

This wonderful property provides a new context to an already vibrant city. Over 50 stories in the sky yields mesmerizing views that words can't do justice. This River North property is in the heart of it all. A search of an online travel review site for their 4 or 5 star restaurants within 1/4 mile of the condo produced 130 results.
The owner was very attentive and kept us updated before, during and after our stay. Very gracious host.
Every amenity is within the condo, not to mention a gym, track, pool, etc. within the building to which all guests will have access. There's a Jewel-Osco grocery store within the building for further convenience.
This luxury condo will accentuate your trip and enjoyment of the Windy City. I will definitely be back.

Amazing Chicago Location & Condo
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Penthouse 5301 in the Grand Plaza. The location in Chicago is fantastic and easily accessible to food and attractions. The condo is exactly as listed and shown in the description. The view is amazing and we loved coming back after full days to this amazing space. We would sure come back and stay at this condo again!

Spacious and comfortable
The River North apartment is certainly spacious and the location amazing. LOVED how easy it was to go ANYWHERE downtown - in walking distance - restaurants, grocery stores, Michigan Ave., theaters.
The unit's two bedrooms are a distance a part, which provides quiet and privacy, as well as there being a great communal area for engagement. Additionally, each of the 3 bathrooms are spacious and clean.
Because of the tall windows, watching the weather change, seeing the skyline alter from day to night provides a dramatic backdrop while staying there.
The front desk staff is helpful.
A few recommendations are bring a sleep mask to darken the direct due east sunrise if you like to sleep past the 5:30am sunrise. There are only simple blinds throughout the apartment.
And secondly, be patient with the owner who sends an abundance and sometimes, redundant amount of information. That said the owner is very caring and attentive.

Amazing views!!!
We had a wonderful experience staying at the Grand Plaza Penthouse. My husband and I and some friends met up for a few days to see the sights. We had never been to Chicago. The condo was perfect for four people. Each of the two bedrooms was large and both had great views so nobody felt slighted. The views were amazing. We didn’t want to leave the condo to go sightseeing! It was well equipped with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. A glass of wine by the the fireplace was the perfect ending after a long day of sightseeing. The window coverings in the bedrooms could stand to be updated. The blinds in the king bedroom were bent and didn’t go all the way to the floor. The sun shone in through the slats every morning at sunrise and woke us up. Small inconvenience for an otherwise amazing Vrbo experience. Thank you Jeri-Lou and James!

Such a beautiful place to stay. Clean, comfortable, and so convenient to down town Chicago. Amazing place to watch the fireworks on New Year’s Eve! Check-in was easy and the condo had everything we needed to cook, clean, and enjoy family time. Can’t wait to stay again.

Great Views/Location
We had a wonderful stay at the penthouse the weekend before Christmas. The property was very clean and the location was perfect for our trip. It is just about a 3 block walk to Michigan Avenue with easy access to many restaurants.
It is located in the same building as a fully stocked grocery store and across the street from a Starbucks. The views from this penthouse would be difficult to beat.
Our whole family had a great time. The kids (7, 9, 12) are already asking to come back.

My wife and I, and our 15 year old daughter went to Chicago to visit our son who was doing an away rotation preparing for his residency in med school. The views from this penthouse were actually breathtaking! I loved the gym on the ninth floor that had everything you could possibly want including Half court basketball, sauna, and steam along with everything do you want in the gym. The doorman were great and the fact that there is a grocery store literally right next to the entrance to the building was super convenient. My son was only available to spend a day and a half with us due to the requirements of his oh way rotation so we were able to walk to restaurants, shopping, and even saw an interactive play. The communication by the management team couldn’t have been better. If and when I go back to Chicago I can’t imagine staying any place else

Top to bottom a great experience. Fantastic location. Views are incredible. Apartment was very clean (my wife is very sensitive to hotel & VRBO lack of cleanliness). Easy check in. Extremely spacious. Great value. The units have not been renovated for an awful long time, but do not show any wear. The convenience of the location cannot be overstated. The red line is right out the front door, and bus routes north, south, east and west are on the same corner as well. We will be back.
