We were looking for a screen-free weekend trip, and this cabin was perfect! Kids loved the swing, and we were able to do easy day trips to Galena and Dubuque.

The cabin offers the best commodities along with the privacy of the great outdoors. Stayed cozy with either the outside fire pit or with the indoor fireplace. Definitely would recommend!

This cozy and modern cabin is absolutely amazing! We enjoyed our Christmas in the cabin and will definitely rent again soon! 🎄

Some of the dishes in the cabinets were dirty. The walls/ceiling are paper thin. We could hear everything in the other bedrooms. LOVED the fireplace/stove!!! All the major applicances were in very good working order.

The house was well appointed and very clean. The beds are comfortable and property close to Galena. The fire pit is perfect. Quiet area. Lots if animals in woods. Noce get away. Very responsive host.

This house is fantastic in person. The listing photos don’t do it justice. The house was a great fit for our group of 6 adults and 2 kids in the area for a family wedding. My kids loved the swing out back and we enjoyed using the fire pit. We did think there’s a lot of untapped potential on the gorgeous deck and large yard, but we were perfectly satisfied with the amenities. Book this house!

We had a wonderful stay at this home located right by the woods. It also had great trails nearby, and the house is very well stocked with kitchen, utensils, and plenty of room.

The air conditioning was wonderful and the house was very nice and welcoming. Bed linens and bathrooms and bedrooms were clean and nice. The big open living room/dining room were perfect for hanging out and the kitchen was well equipped. If you’re a lite sleeper in one of the main floor bedrooms the fact that the air conditioning unit is attached to the outside wall that both downstairs bedrooms share…is rather loud till you get used to it…and if there is someone sleeping upstairs, you pretty much know every step they take (very creaky floors). There were mosquitoes inside the house, especially in the upstairs bedroom, even though all the windows have screens and we kept doors closed. The pots and pans were dirty and we felt the need to wash dishes and cutlery before we used them. We think some guests didn’t scrape and rinse before placing in dishwasher…and someone put them away without looking to see if they were clean. It happens. We hadn’t realized the part of the lake where we were has no beach or swimming, so that was a surprise that was disappointing. But overall we had a great time at this cabin. We walked down to the little river and lake most mornings and saw lots of beautiful birds, frogs and even an otter. Beautiful spot!

This is our third time staying at the Hideaway Lodge and it never fails to disappoint. There is enough space for our family of 6 inside and out. We loved walking down to the creek, going to the pool, and swimming in the lake. Dinner at the Cove is always a good time. Thanks again for a fun family vacation!

The cabin was well maintained, stocked, and clean. It was a good place to spend time together. We especially enjoyed the wonderful pool which is great for toddlers to grandparents! It’s a little drive to Galena and the other attractions, but the area is beautiful countryside to drive through. Overall, it was a great place to unwind, kick back, and relax!

We had a great time at the cabin! The photos on the listing didn’t do the property justice and were very pleased with how perfect it was for us! Having access to the neighborhood pool and beach were fantastic. Would love to come again!

The cabin was the perfect lodging for our family weekend! Very cozy for us to all hangout & eat together. We found the area beautiful and took advantage of golf, swimming and our nite time campfire. As a grama, I loved sitting on the deck with the granddaughters & listening to the birds in the great tall trees. Great getaway from the city!

This was a beautiful cabin tucked back into a quiet neighborhood perfect for our relaxing girls getaway. A little drive to Galena but overall we loved it!

We stayed at the cabin to attend a family wedding at Oak Hill Farm. With having adult kids in from out of town, it was great to have the one-on-one time with them away from the festivities when time permitted. We would highly recommend!

Gorgeous cabin in the woods with all the amenities I needed for a tranquil stay! The home was clean and spacious. I love log cabins and this home hit all my check list items for a great Galena area vacation rental. The directions from the owners on how to get there were spot on. I’m already familiar with the area so it made sense to me though. Fire place was easy to use, I brought my own fire wood. I did make use of the nice tub in the master bathroom and it was relaxing, just wish the water had gotten a little bit hotter but that’s a personal preference. Everything about this home was lovely! The kitchen was well appointed with I really appreciate because I did cook while I was there. I appreciated that the home had throw blankets to cozy up near the fire with. The chair directly in front of the fire is THE MOST COMFORTABLE and I enjoyed reading a book drinking my wine and taking cat naps there. Thanks for a great relaxing stay.

Very peaceful and wooded setting.

This was the perfect weekend getaway for our family (2 adults, 1 teen & 1 child & 1 pup). The open concept kitchen and family room boasts a beautiful fireplace. The cabin also sits right next to an access point that leads down to the water, where you can view the sunrise. Our girls also loved the swing and fire pit outside (also visible from the kitchen). We we enjoyed every minute of our time at Hideaway Lodge, and highly recommend ☺️

We absolutely loved staying in this adorable cabin! We wanted to ski at Chestnut Mountain and stay in a real “wooden” cabin, and this was the perfect place! The two story stone fireplace was lovely. The seating area was just right for us parents and two older kids (17 and 21) to comfortably enjoy movies we streamed each night and to play games. The large dining table allowed space to both eat and work on a 1000 piece puzzle throughout the week. The modern kitchen was lovely and well equipped, as we cooked every night. The 3 bedrooms were comfortable and cozy...we just loved the completely wooden walls and beamed ceilings throughout the home! We really enjoyed walking with our dog in the woodsy neighborhood every day, The home was very clean, but I gave only 4 out of 5 stars because of two issues: I found a very dirty sheet pan in the oven and had to scrub both that and the bottom of the oven that had something baked on before we were able to use it, and the master bedroom dresser drawers had to be cleaned out before use. These are small details the cleaning crew must be aware of, otherwise, we felt the home was very well kept. There are no closets, but over-the-door hangers were provided and some hooks. I would suggest to the owners to add a temporary clothes hanging rack, hooks, and bench in the little room off the master bath until they turn it into a closet or other idea they may have (my son thought it may be a sauna one day?). I think more hooks should be provided in all bedrooms and baths in the absence of any closets. The water temperature was strangely fluctuating during showers and dishwashing, which worried me at first, but it seemed we had enough warm water to bathe after all. We would highly recommend this beautiful destination for a uniquely “rustic” looking and very comfortable, cozy destination! Thank you to the owners for sharing your delightful home!
