We had a wonderful stay in this cottage. Kari was wonderful to work with and everything was super easy. We enjoyed spending time on the front porch and the house had everything we needed to eat in and live comfortably. The location is perfect! We enjoyed our stay very much!!!

This is our second time staying here, with our 9 year old daughter and 2 golden retrievers. It’s a perfect spot - comfortable, clean, close to everything and especially the bay and beach. The front patio is so relaxing - we work out there, eat there and entertain there. Really wonderful overall.
Kari’s great, responsive and nice. This is our go-to now whenever we come to Balboa Island. We’ll be back soon!

I really can’t say enough about this property. It’s the second year in a row that my three daughters and I stayed at this house for Spring Break. The host is very responsive. The house is super clean and very well appointed! The location to town is perfect. The access to garage parking is incredibly convenient and washer dryer a complete bonus. Thank you Kari for another absolutely amazing vacation!! Looking forward to our next stay!! ❤️

I stayed at Kari's cottage for nearly 4 months, as I had taken a temporary work assignment in Orange County, and wanted a safe, easy place to work and play. The cottage is exactly as shown and was comfortable and cute! The master bedroom had tons of storage, and the bed was comfy. Walking distance to all the shops on the island, the ferry, and the ability to take a daily walk around the island was a huge bonus. Kari was always available when I needed her (which wasn't much). The community is friendly, and I wouldn't hesitate to return to this quaint little cottage on this sweet little island!

Lovely little cottage just off the Main Street shopping and food area of Balboa Island. Comfortable beds and home with great patio inside the fence. Perfect location to everything and fun to stroll across the alley to Main Street any time for food and shopping. Host was excellent and very communicative. Perfect spot to go out biking daily on back bay and to walk down to the North or South Bay beaches and sit under the umbrella or go kayaking on the quiet bay water. Will definitely stay there again.

We fell in love with Kari’s adorable and well-loved cottage upon first sight! It is truly one of those special places you don’t come across often. A well-preserved vintage cottage with beautiful flowered front and back patios with all of the modern comforts needed. The location on a street of beautiful homes one block from Marina Ave. and an easy walk to the ferry can’t be beat! Having laundry and a generous garage parking spot that easily accommodated my Subaru Ascent was also essential. The master bedroom is very generous and the bed was super comfortable. My teen girls enjoyed their cute twin bedroom and had plenty of space in their separate bathroom. Finally, Kari was super prompt at answering any questions and so kind to communicate with. We definitely hope to return!

The stay and location all was perfect for us. We enjoyed walking around the island each morning. One block from cute boutiques and restaurants. We plan on making this at min annual. Went whale watching, rented small boat, and jet skiing out in ocean. Always something to do.

I lived on Balboa Island a number of years ago and have a true appreciation of exactly how perfect this property is! The location is amazing- walk out the back gate and shimmy down the alley and you are right on Marine Ave! The layout of the house is great! Bedroom and full bathroom in the front and same in the back. The beautiful courtyard in the back was so serene! The little picket fence in the front - parked right out front all but one time. But never fear - the garage parking guarantees ease of access! The washer/dryer are tops! The kitchen had everything we needed and then some. Coffee in the morning - everything available to us. No issues with any appliance or heat/utilities/ceiling fans - it was a true vacation! Kari was very attentive and was available day/night. Neighbors were very friendly - waved and said hello! Five stars all around! I can’t wait to go back!!!

Lovely beach island cottage
The cottage is accurately shown in the photos. It is well-stocked and obviously well-cared for by Katie, who is easy to work with. The garage is a HUGE plus, as parking can be challenging. Great location near Marine Avenue, too.

Perfect spot
We absolutely loved this beachy cottage on Balboa Island. It was conveniently located one street behind all the shops and restaurants on Marine Ave, the main street on the Island. The ferry to Newport was a short walk down the quaint boardwalk that surrounds the island. Paddle boards, bikes and kayaks are available for rent on Marine Ave and we had a great time taking in the sights from the water. We made great use of the fenced-in front yard and back courtyard as both spots were perfect for enjoying the wonderful weather. We had great communication with the owner, she was very prompt with check in/out info and responding to any inquiries we had. We especially appreciated that the property was dog friendly and the garage was a huge plus as parking can be hard to find at times. We will definitely keep this cottage on our list of favorite places to return for future holidays.

Going Home
When I cross over the bridge I am transported back to my youth and growing up on the island where the streets were lined with beach cottages each with there own unique charm. Kari’s 1955 cottage has that vibe I was looking for when choosing a place for our family to stay. She was very responsive to our needs if we had any questions or needed anything. The kitchen was well stocked with all your needs if you chose to cook but, with Marine Ave. so close, you had your pick of restaurants and prepared meals from Irvine Ranch Market. The outdoor spaces were wonderful to sit and enjoy a glass of wine as you spoke to passerby’s. We had one concern for our 20 month old granddaughter from the amount of rose bushes and the thorns they produce. I’m an avid gardener and love all flowers but hard to totally relax when she was playing in the yard. Having a garage space to use was also a big benefit as parking can be challenging on the island but sharing the washer and dryer with her long term renters was a little frustrating at times, as they would leave clothes all day in them. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and have many happy memories spent with family. Thank you, Kari for sharing your cottage with us.

Kari's cottage is located in a prime location. It's literally a 1 minute walk, and you are in the center of town.
Having use of the garage is a lifesaver. And made coming and going a breeze. All of this plus pet friendly what's not to like?

Dream home and location
I was so happy to have this adorable home for our son, his wife and two babies. We had such a fun time visiting with them. The home was well stocked and meticulously clean! Kari is the perfect host and made sure everything about her home, met our needs.
You could not get a better location either, because it is right next to a great market and all the restaurants and shops. AND the beach was to the right and to the left. Our family never needed a car! It's all there for you in one beautiful package.

If location is everything to you then this is the place. Great house, walk able to everything. Bicycles available, 2 car garage and way more in the house to use then you'll ever need. Pots, pans, dishes, glasses, spices, knives, cutting board, seriously everything you need. We way over packed thinking we would need everything that is already provided. Cheers and safe travels.

Wonderful home, best of the five we've rented over the years.
This cottage is an island within an island. Once inside, it is so relaxing. However, our stay was marred by construction of large houses on both sides plus noisy construction behind the garage. My guess is that one house is all but finished and the other the exterior is finished. The work in the alley was being completed on the day we left.
My only criticism is that in the 200 addresses, you cannot see either the north or south bay. On an island, I like to see water. Still, the four of us may have had our best time ever while on the island. It was interesting to be able to go from the alley behind the garage to a walkway over to the main street and all the shops, including our favorite restaurant.
Our old dog loved the place. She would probably give it 5 stars.

Nice location
Thankful to be on the Island! This house was clean and comfortable! We needed a house that accepted dogs, and though we really appreciated Kari’s openness, we had to send our dog home after the first weekend. There was no place for her to go potty, unfortunately. I’m not sure how others do it!
For non dog owners, I would definitely recommend it though. Kari, the owner, was very hospitable. She thought of everything! Bikes, beach chairs, books for all kinds, puzzles, games, condiments...
There was construction on both sides, but they truly didn’t bother us!

Great island and location
Loved the cottage feel if this house. Plenty of room for family to spread out and love both the front porch and courtyard!! Would certainly go back but would stay longer next time ! Got to meet Kari and she was very nice and happy to give us suggestions. Little Corona beach with tide pools was a hit! Go early.

Not just charming, the quality of all from sheets to kitchen utensils exceeds an average rental!
We loved everything about this cottage! The garage accommodated 2 cars and as street parking could be very challenging was a huge bonus. It was obvious that this property is not managed by a cheap vacation rental outfit because the quality of the sheets, bedding, dishes, pots, pans etc. is superior to every other vacation rental I have stayed in. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. Access to the beach was easy and simple and we were able to walk to all the restaurants and shops on the island and to the ferry that takes you to Balboa peninsula! A really quality rental in an absolutely wonderful location! I hope to come back soon!

I never wanted to leave
This is a wonderful house. So warm and cozy. I stayed during the boat parade. Kari is wonderful to work with - I even got to meet her and gave her some of the cookies I made while staying there. There is every thing you need in the kitchen to cook and having a washer and dryer to use is such a plus. I’ll be back for sure
