We have just spent a great week at the Coconut Telegraph house in the Mauna Lani resort and could not be happier with our experience. Our group of six enjoyed a great week together and included myself and my wife with our two adult daughters and grandson as well as the BFF of one of our daughters. There was plenty of room for our group to spread out and sleeping arrangements were easy. With a bathroom for each bedroom there was no waiting for showers, etc.
The kitchen was well supplied with cooking utensils and dishes, so meal prep was easy. We used the outside grill several times as well. Eating out on the lanai was very pleasant as was just relaxing outside. Sitting outside in the morning listening to the many birds and having coffee is something that we miss now.
There was easy access to several beautiful beaches which we took advantage of and the beach equipment that was in the garage was helpful.
We enjoyed visiting the volcano and recommend a visit to the Greenwell Farms coffee farm to see how Kona coffee is grown and processed.
We were also able to go whale watching, watch manta rays feed in the ocean at night, and our daughters took surfing lessons.
The fitness facility and pools were also easy to access, very well equipped and enjoyed by our family.
Overall this is a great property and we highly recommend it.

Lovely family reunion
We booked Starfish house after seeing the beautiful pictures on line and, upon arrival, it did not disappoint!!! We were in need of sleeping for 8 and the beds were incredibly comfortable. Our party of 4 couples were able to make full meals with the high quality appliances and well-stocked dish and drink ware.. This trip meant a lot to all of us for many reasons and the Starfish house was the perfect host. Thank you so much for making your beautiful home available to our family.

Beautiful home with a couple minor issues
The house was stunning and had a perfect location at the end of the development. More than enough room for 4 adults and 2 children (including grandparents). We loved our time here and loved the views out the huge glass windows on the lower floor, and the privacy by it bordering the golf course. Only minor issue we had was curtains breaking and not being addressed, and a flat tire on the kids bike that they never had someone come out to look at, despite being responsive to our request. I would love to stay here again though!

Quiet, beautiful townhome
Beautiful property, exactly as described. Quiet neighborhood, which was great for us. Close enough to Fairmont Orchid to walk easily for a conference. Pool area was very nice. Access to beach club was a plus. Many toys in the garage- were wonderful to use. Large main bedroom with walkin closet and spacious bath. Great communication with hosts, excellent information about the unit. Views are golf course and mountains. Kitchen was very well appointed. Few little items were not ideal. Could not figure out some of the fans and could not get them to do anything other than very fast. Outdoor grill was used a lot and a very nice feature- but cooked very hot. Easy to adjust to once we knew that.

Christmas in HI
This is a very nice home, very comfortable and the lanai with the view over the golf course is beautiful. We took full advantage of that, taking in the sunrise every morning with all the bird calls. Does sleep eight (comfortable beds!) but it required sharing the large master bath (off the very nice large master bedroom) with some of our daughters in order to make the two full baths work when all of us were getting ready to go out at the same time, but that was a workable solution. Large water heater and so there was never an issue with the hot water supply.
Parking the second car was no hassle really, with a spot at the next unit over. The garage is for two cars but with all the outdoor gear they provide, there is really only room for one car.
Close to a small grocery store, easily walkable. Used going4groceries.com for our initial needs in order to avoid that stop after a long flight (property management provides them with a temporary access code to deliver the groceries ahead of your arrival). Well equipped kitchen with a lot of small appliances to use and plenty of dishes.
Short walk to a nice pool with separate lap pool and workout room.
The access to the beach at Mauna Lani is a bonus and has good snorkeling water, where we were able to swim with and observe some beautiful/interesting fish. Depending on how far out you went within the resort’s mapped area, the water was up to 20’ deep.
Responsive local property management. Two virtually new adult bikes were delivered same day that we pointed out that two of the bikes provided were out of commission for various reasons.

Beautiful property
This was a very nice property. Would highly recommend the Mauna Lani area as a base for seeing the island. Nice associated facilities. Foodland and some shops are short walk or minutes-drive always. Adjacent resort shopping less than 10 minutes drive away. Hapuna Beach (Conde Nast #1) is less than 10 minutes away, gorgeous. The resort private beach and various walkable shore areas and sights and are quite nice too. The management are responsive to needs.

Many Beautiful Birds
We had a great time here it is a beautiful home. The kitchen had everything we needed and we cooked at hone every day. The owners were very thoughtful and provided sporting equipment and bicycles. The beach club has excellent snorkeling and a relaxed atmosphere. We liked the proximity to the grocery. The TV’s worked great. The view from the lanai was gorgeous and we saw many birds.
The only downside was the early check out at 10 am. We thought we would be able to hang around at the pool for a few hours as our flights were in the evening. This is standard at most hotels. The pool attendant asked us to leave the premises because we did not have our room key. The facility should provide guest passes for departure days. It really left us feeling sour after a great vacation. We also could not find any information on the bicycle cart that was shared by the complex. Some in our party were enthusiastic about using this but we couldn’t find anyone who knew anything about it.

Perfect set up fir our family of 6!
The starfish house was exactly as we pictured it- from the grand staircase to the bikes for all 6 of us, everything was amazing! We loved sitting outside on the lanai for coffee during the sunrise and cocktails during sunset. The beds were so comfortable, and the kitchen was perfectly stocked. We loved everything about our stay! So grateful for such a great place to stay after a year stuck in quarantine!

Big Island Treat
Stayed here exactly one year after having to cancel our 2020 trip due to Covid. The owners were very accommodating in allowing us to switch our reservation, and the wait was well worth it. The house was perfect for our family of 5, plus grandparents. We loved how secluded it was at the end of the development, and the views out the back of the golf course were spectacular. One advantage of staying in Mauna Lani is access to the private beach club. This is a perfect beach for calm water, good snorkeling, and relaxing in the sun, and is just a short drive away. The house was also well stocked with things to make a beach trip easy—chairs, coolers, boogey boards, etc and is a nice touch that another house we previously stayed at lacked. My kids also loved making use of the bikes! They woke up early each morning and would ride up and down the quiet street before breakfast. The house was as advertised. We usually prefer a firmer mattress, but had no issues falling and staying asleep on these softer beds (I had seen other comments about this). The kitchen had plenty of everything for eating and cooking, and even had some simple spices and other basic necessities that cost a fortune if you have to buy them all individually. We messaged the owners about a small issue with one of the lights not working and they responded right away. It was easy to find the house and check in with the provided instructions, even in the dark. We love the Big Island and will hopefully be back in the next couple of years and would love to stay here again! Thanks for everything!

Kaua'i Visitors
We took great care in researching for a place that was comfortable and beautiful prior to a family event in Hilo. This place delivered! Everyone had space and the amenities were great. We enjoyed having the outside area to have our meals. The master suite is quite amazing! Jeff and Suzanne communicated quickly. The area was private with a powerful view of Mauna Kea and the watering hole on the golf course. There is an inactive construction site as you drive up but it did not detract from our experience once you stepped inside. The kitchen was very well-stocked. There was great attention to detail. As a family that enjoys the outdoors, we appreciated the beach equipment and happy that we did not have to bring them from Kaua'i. Mahalo!

Great for families
There is a lot to love about this rental unit. The Master is absolutely palatial, the view and location on the back is stunning and quiet, and the garage is full of everything you could possibly need on a family vacation in Hawaii. We also loved the private beach and the pools and fitness center are fantastic. Some of the downsides; the mattress on the master bed and second bedroom is very soft and uncomfortable (very easy fix). The front of this unit faces a construction site that has been dormant for 2 years - it's not really a problem, just very unattractive. We also found that the layout of the kitchen and dining room was not ideal. All in all we had a great stay but it's just not perfect.

Starfish House Felt Like Home
The home is beautiful, just as pictured. The Master is large and gorgeously appointed. The second and third bedrooms are smaller, but very nice as well. Having the walls that slide open to the lanai was such a treat and we were grateful that there were nice screens. We wish that the Master and dining sliders had screens as well, but we just kept those doors closed. The kitchen was very well appointed as far as cooking tools, dishes, and serving items! There was not the selection of oils and vinegars, but we bought our own at the Foodland close by. The TV remotes can be a challenge, but we managed. The garage was well equipped with snorkel gear, boogie boards, bikes, and coolers. The pool and workout facility are just as pictured, very nice! We enjoyed the Island very much! Our favorite place to hang out during the day for great food was Kona Brewing. Sunsets at Canoe were breathtaking. Days spent at Hapuna Beach topped our list of great times here! The sugary sand, clear aqua waters, turtles, whale watching, and of course people watching, made for a full day of fun. We returned several times. As we pack today, we are already thinking of our next visit! Mahalo, Starfish House!

It was a perfect place for our families trip
We rented the starfish home for our family and another family with kids that came with us. We all absolutely loved the place. It was such a clean and beautiful spot and had everything we needed plus more. We ended up needing a later check out which they were able to accommodate for us as well. We will definitely be booking this place again when we go back to the big island!!!

Dream vacation
What a beautiful stay! The house is beautiful with plenty of space. Our party of five was so comfortable with intimacy and lots of space. You find everything you need in the house. The kitchen has everything you can think of and more. We even found a personalized message and little fun gift for our son. Tissues, toilet paper, soap, dishwasher soap, etc. All was provided generously. We had bikes, all functional, and plenty of beach equipment. The decoration of the house is done with great taste and everything is in good condition. We enjoyed the lanai so much! It is the perfect house in perfect location. beautifully decorated house
Nice house with tastefull room decorations, perfect located to the Mauna Lani Shops, the beaches and to pools and gym. Also equipped with bikes, beach gear and bbq.
Air condition didnt work quite well in the different zones of the house though. Outside sitting area and floors could have been a bit cleaner...All in all a good location. enjoyed our stay anyway!

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!
The Starfish house couldn't be more beautifully decorated and welcoming! The deck is fabulous -- you are steps away from the golf course (which was not busy at all while we were there), and often, goats are frolicking nearby and beautiful birds are flying from tree to tree.
We only had time to use the community pool once, but it is GORGEOUS, and the lap pool was SO VERY WARM. Ahhhhh.
We also loved having access to the community's beach club -- it is a beautiful piece of beach (especially early in the morning!), and there were plenty of lounge chairs and "cabanas."
The community is very easily accessible and is located in a great spot on the island. We had a great time staying here and wished we had allowed a few more days to explore this side of the island.

Fabulous house, great location
Starfish House was the perfect spot for 5 of our friends to stay at in the days leading up to our wedding! They hosted a dinner for ~16 people - the outside seating area at the house was amazing, and there was every possible kitchen implement to use. Location was great, being close to the Fairmont, as well as to all the incredible beaches on the Kohala Coast. Would definitely stay again, and Jeff and Suzanne were great with communicating all details before and after their stay. Thanks so much for everything!

Top Notch Stay
What can I say? This place is amazing! Awesomely stocked, beautifully decorated, and extremely clean. Just when you don’t think they have something you need, keep looking...it’s there! The master suite was gorgeous. We traveled with our 18 month old and this house was a great fit for us. It actually comes with some basic baby essentials such as a pack n play, monitor, and high chair. My son doesn’t sleep well in a pack n play and we were able to rent a mini crib without having to make our own arrangements. Loved all the beach gear and the wagon. Kitchen is fully stocked. Plenty of dishes so you don’t have to worry about constantly doing them. We loved sitting on the lanai and watching the goats everyday! The house is in a quiet area and low traffic which was great for playing outside. There were so many shops and restaurants around. We usually stay over in Waikoloa but wanted a house this time and so glad we booked this place! Also I last minute realized the check out was at 10 and our flight wasn’t till 3:30. We were able to get a later check out so don’t hesitate to ask. The owners are great with accommodating and communicating! Cannot wait to go back!

Lovely, well-equipped house
We enjoyed our stay at Srarfish House. Tastefully decorated with a well-equipped kitchen. Beach Club access was very enjoyable and pool is a short walk away. Appreciated the supply of snorkeling equipment, beach towels and folding chairs to use at the beach. We liked watching the egrets roost across the pond on the other side of the fairway in the back.
Only concern was 10 am checkout. Given that check in is 3 pm, five hours seems like a long time to clean the house for the next guests.

Starfish house was beautiful! It was a great place for a big family in a beautiful quiet location. It is exactly like the pictures shown. They had everything you need to feel like your home away from home. The kitchen was fully stocked with all appliances , from a coffee maker to a rice maker and all the silverware and cookware you needed. They had a laundry room with all the product you need to do laundry even hampers. The place was extremely clean upon arrival. The beach access club card you must take advantage of it ,was a great beach to snorkel and swim we had my 3 year old with us and it was perfect her to swim. It was a great location the grocery store and shops were 2 min away, beach and tide pools were 5 min from the condo. I could go on and on about this location, overall just the perfect place I’m so glad we chose starfish! Definitely going back and booking it again!

Comfortable & beautiful with everything we needed!
This is the second year we've stayed at one of Jeff and Suzanne's properties on the Big Island. We feel very well cared for when we stay on their property and know that they are responsive and available to us. This house was beautifully decorated and very comfortable in every way. They think of all the details and we had everything we needed for a wonderful time in Hawaii. Two things we loved were the comfortable beds and well-stocked kitchen. The view of the golf course was peaceful and allowed for amazing star-gazing at night.

Starfish House
Choosing this home was a huge win! The home is beautiful, comfortable, and the homeowners didn’t miss a beat on providing all we could ever want in a home away from home. Our favorite features were the beds, the back patio overlooking the golf course and watching the egrets fly in to roost in the tree by the pond every night, and the fully stocked garage with all we needed for beach days! Fabulous. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay!

Property was clean and modern. Kitchen well equipped. Took a while to figure out all the remotes for TV but worked it out.
A concern was the termites eating the stair landing, which they should address before more damage occurs (sent them an email).
Quiet neighborhood. Lots of wild goats on the golf course.
