The Cliff House - Expansive Bay Views from an Open & Inviting House

This is our 4th annual Inverness visit and 3rd stay at cliff house. We are a group of childhood friends that were all born and raised in west Marin. We look forward to our summer visit every year and staying at cliff house feels like coming home.

Beautiful location in the trees with views of Tomales Bay. Easy hike to a small beach that is pretty private. Recommend stopping in a larger town for groceries before arrival. Inverness and Point Reyes are both pretty small towns. They do have grocery stores for limited items. All the restaurants were quite good. It was a lovely and relaxing visit.

We stayed here over the 4th of July week and it couldn’t have been more perfect!
To be able to walk with the kids to Shell beach was a huge plus!

This was our second stay since it's the perfect place for large family gatherings! Amazing views, birds and crickets and deer, short walk to a lovely small beach and short drive to all of Point Reyes hikes and beaches. We had so much fun playing ping pong even though the garage room has some water and mildew issues. We will be back!

We were a party of 5 women who have known each other for 40 years. It was one friend’s 70th BD. We enjoyed the area and the house so much. It was wonderful to sit out on the deck overseeing Tomales Bay. The fireplace was great. The kitchen had every kind of amenity one could think of. Thanks for a great visit!

We were staying in Inverness as my youngest lives here with her family. The Cliff House easily accommodated myself, a couple friends, and my son’s family. The view from the living room windows was spectacular and it was relaxing to sit on the deck in the evenings. The house provided everything we needed as far as comfortable furnishings and supplies/equipment for preparing meals. We were able to get to Love Field for a celebration with no problem. The only thing that could be better was if there were screens for the windows so we could keep them open. Other than that, the place was fantastic and I’d definitely rent here again! Thank you!

We are a group of six friends who all grew up in Inverness/Olema. This home has allowed us to get together and re-experience all our favorite things about the area. The walking distance to Shell Beach cannot be beat except maybe by the stunning views from the Cliff House. The four bedrooms allow us all to stay in comfort, no one is stuck on a pull-out couch or livingroom floor! We can't wait for our annual visit in 2024!

Everything is fantastic just as described elsewhere. Perhaps not yet noted: the beautifully maintained, vintage 1970s interior design (tiles, formica etc.) is lovely.

This house suited the needs of my 7-member family very well as the final stop in our 2,100 mile road trip around California. The house was very comfortable and well-appointed. We had plenty of space and bedding for the group. I loved having an open fire in the fireplace at night. The house is close to the amenities of Inverness, Inverness Park, and Point Reyes Station. It is also very close to the beautiful Point Reyes National Seashore. The drive to San Francisco International is easy as well. This allowed us to avoid an overnight hotel stay in San Francisco to end our trip. Thank you to the owners. I highly recommend this property if your travels take you to the area.

The property had everything we needed to accommodate our extended family - six adults and four children. The location was peaceful and the surroundings, beautiful. The location was convenient to many Point Reyes attractions, and the game room and movie and board game collections were an unexpected bonus.

We stayed at this lovely place in February 2023. It is perfect for a reunion of family and friends.
There were 6 of us: 3 couples in our 60s and 70s. Long time and new friends getting together - coming from San Francisco, Oakland, and Cincinnati. The house was perfect: 4 separate sleeping rooms with 3 toilets and 2 showers, plenty of linens and extra blankets, large common and dining areas, excellent furnishings for cooking and eating as a group, a fire in the fireplace at night with seating for everyone and space for more. And the views! So many stars at night, the Bay and hills in the distance, trees all around. We enjoyed our favorite hiking trails in nearby Point Reyes.

This was our family's 3rd Christmas stay at Cliff House. To us, it is perfect. The 4 bedrooms are sufficiently separate that each feels private, even though there is some bathroom sharing. Decks all over the place provide additional living area, weather permitting. Huge open living room-dining room-kitchen allows togetherness as desired. The view of Tamales Bay is fantastic, changing with every part of the day. Kitchen is well-stocked. Huge and level parking area with stalls, if you want them. Perfectly kept, accessible and helpful hosts. NOTHING negative. Yes, it is pricey, but not when divided by 8, which was our number. We hope to stay here again and again. Thank you, Marilyn!

We had a great getaway to the Cliff House over the winter holiday. The house is excellently located near Tomales Bay State Park, a lovely hike from the house. The house itself is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well-stocked, which is helpful because there are not many places to eat out in Inverness. We will consider going back!

So much to recommend this beautiful house, and we agree with the highlights already attested to in other reviews.
However during our stay the half bathroom and the yellow bedroom (both tucked behind the laundry closet) became locked from the outside, requiring hours of waiting to access the rooms again. (Yes, we were surprised too. What are the chances both doors lock us out.) No contact phone numbers are printed in the house binder, so with the rental organizer's phone locked in the bedroom, there was no way to access either the owner or the week's property manager for help. Highly recommend changing both locks.

This spacious home provided our family with an excellent space to be together and visit, relax, laugh, unwind, play “Snert,” hike a magnificent beach, enjoy home-cooked meals, and celebrate life. We found everything we needed in the well-equipped kitchen. It was great having 4 bedrooms with comfortable beds and warm blankets. We didn’t use the deck much, but it’s beautiful. The owner is exceptionally kind. Seahaven served our family needs wonderfully. Thank you!

My husband and I took our grandson to Point Reyes for the long weekend and we had a great time. The house is large (usually holds lots more people, I would imagine) and so can accomodate lots of activities. We didn't even get to the game room since foosball and ping pong are really better suited to kids that are a little older (and adults!). We spent time at the beach - Shell Beach is walking distance, but small, so we spent more time at Heart's Desire Beach (a short, 10-min) drive. And a hike out at the end of the penninsula to see elk can't be missed (we saw a whole herd crossing the trail!). The house is comfortable, and well-equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We’ve had family gatherings here for years now, and find the view of Tomales Bay breathtaking each time. Kitchen has all you need to prepare feasts around the big dining room table; the new deck is a beautiful spot for sunning and grilling;
the walk to nearby shell beach a daily treat; easy drives to hikes in Point Reyes or shopping at point Reyes Station. Host is communicative and responsive - for instance, immediately had someone come replace a burner on the stove that had gone out. Always clean as well!

We recently had a girls trip at the house. We all grew up in West Marin and this was the perfect spot to meet up. It's a great house in a great location. Truly a gem.

Had an absolutely amazing time at the Cliff House. Property was clean and check in process was a breeze. Beds were super comfortable(and pillows) Which is a huge deal because I usually bring my own and forgot it. But hands down best part of this place are the views. Has a bilevel deck that was perfect for enjoying morning coffee or evening dinners. In the game room was a hit with the kids. Will definitely return!

Incredibly impressed how well kept this home was. Yes its an older house, but you can tell how the owners take great care in reinvesting, updating the home and its maintenance. Kitchen well equipped. Brand new, well constructed deck. Kudos to the carpenters who did a fine job. Regular size BBQ grill out there (bring your own charcoal) but we didn't grill this trip. Plenty of open space with a great dining table to seat 10 comfortably. Huge master bedroom. Game room fun option for the teenagers that is off to side of garage (parking for 3 cars) plus big open space drive. Not much traffic if at all along the road that the house is located on.
