Good house, great pool set up, great location, close to town. Cons would be it def needs some updating and TLC. 2 Twin bedroom and futon room are completely separate from each other and the only access to both is an outside stairway. It's not ideal for small children. Overall I would stay again.

This was our first time on St. John which is a beautiful island with lots of hills. We always felt very safe. Gorgeous views of Chocolate Hole, a steep one mile hike downhill (not always with sidewalks). This is a great house for two couples. The other two bedrooms are outside and around the house down a set of stairs. One room downstairs was missing a screen door and thus you have to use the AC for air flow. You must rent a car, both for safety and access of the island but also to take the trash and recycling away every day.

Villa was comfortable for 7, very convenient to Cruz and the beaches, and very nice views from the capacious covered porch. Host was great. Lack of AC in living room / kitchen wasn't a problem for us in January, but might be in hotter weather.

The home is located in the Chocolate Hole area, super easy to get to, amazing view and very quiet. The overall experience was wonderful! We were supplied with coolers and chairs which made our trip easy. The pool is just the perfect size. Very convenient to get to downtown Cruz Bay and groceries. We would stay there again.
Cons: The home could use some furniture updating, definitely bring your own paper towels and tall kitchen garbage bags and the downstairs bedroom sliding doors did not lock.

Great stay, would definitely return. Private location. Tons of lush landscaping and flowers. The two bedrooms on the main floor were very spacious. Great open main living space. Third bedroom with bath downstairs needed to use stairs along side of house to get to it but outside was well lit so that was no problem. Property managers Murel and Kiarah were very nice and helpful.

Our family had a wonderful time at Villa Catalina. It was the perfect spot to relax and so close to the food markets and Cruz Bay as well as to the road to the beaches. The cool breeze was always blowing and only one night we had to put the air conditioning on. The only disappointment we found was in the kitchen. All of the 4 stove top gas jets could not be regulated, all you got was a flame at full blast.
And yet we found it took forever to boil a pot of water? The oven worked ok, but think it’s time to replace the stove.
There was a shortage of flatware, which we had to have the manager get additional for us. The pots and especially the pans could use an upgrade, perhaps going with teflon to make it easier for guests to clean up.
We did discover a delightful beach to swim and snorkel 5 minutes from the villa off East Chocolate Hole Road for those days when you didn’t want to drive up the beach road.

St John Fun
The house worked out well for us. Upstairs and Main bottom level bedrooms were big. The pool was nice to have especially with the 5 year old. We could use it to keep her busy as well as cool off in the afternoon. Nice view and it was fun watching the iguanas in the trees

Family trip to St. John
We loved our stay at Claudia's villa. The views are as advertised and are outstanding. It's a close drive to the busy and fun Cruz Bay area, and the bedrooms are spacious and beautiful. It's a challenging driveway to navigate but we got used to that and realize now that's just part of staying on the island. The downstairs bedrooms are only accessed via an exterior stair so they felt somewhat disconnected and the kitchen is just a bit dated but overall we loved our stay and would definitely return in the future. Claudia and her support staff are very responsive and courteous and were wonderful hosts. Highly recommended!

Felt like home away from home!
This is a very comfortable and clean property, we absolutely loved our stay here and will book again when we return to the island! The covered balcony offers a great spot to enjoy the view while eating and escaping the sun, and the deck and pool area are the perfect place to relax after a morning at the beach. It's less than a 5 minute drive to the grocery store, and town isn't much further - perfect location.

Management staff was very helpful
Due to some airline issues, we arrived later than our young adult children that were traveling from a different city. Myrtle went above and beyond making sure they got off the ferry and arranged a cab to take them to the grocery store and then up to the house. It was much appreciated to decrease my stress level! The house worked out well for us, having older children, although I was a little worried my 12 year old son wouldn’t want to be so far away in the downstairs bedroom (with no interior entrance to the main house). He was fine though and enjoyed his private room 😊. We had an issue with water and they responded right away. It’s good to know ahead that they advise not to drink the water. My guess is that is the same in most of the rental homes. The view was amazing. It was close to town but far enough away that we felt very private. As for most rentals we saw, be prepared for a very steep driveway!

Lovely getaway
Our family of 5 adults so enjoyed this quiet house with the spectacular view, refreshing swimming pool, well appointed kitchen and 4 bedrooms. The water pressure in the showers is low, but this is typical. It was difficult for cabs to get up to us, but we had a rental car, so no problem. We did have a problem with one of the showers, the maintenance person was there and fixed things within an hour. It was so nice to have the grill and tables and chairs on the deck. We had a lovely relaxing time.

We stayed for 10 days. Communication with pickup was perfect. House is beautifully maintained with amazing views. Beds are very comfortable and the house is not too big for 3 people but can easily accommodate far more. Easy proximity to Cruz bay. Would rent again without hesitation

A great place for exploring St John
The property has gorgeous views and the surrounding decks & pool area offer great outdoor spaces. It is located just a short drive to Cruz Bay with its ferries, restaurants & shopping. It also is only short drives to the many beautiful areas for snorkeling, hiking, nature observation & swimming that St John is known for. This property served as a great headquarters for our family’s active vacation exploring St John.

Great Views and Great Neighborhood
Our stay was pleasant and everything was just as advertised. The washer and dryer was a very nice convenience and we wound up using it once mid-week. Although the bedrooms are air-conditioned which we used at night, the rest of the house was cooled naturally by the breezes and quite comfortable. The only glitch was the safe wouldn't open one day due to a dead battery, but the maintenance guy was there within minutes and fixed it promptly. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

The experience started with great communication, this assured us we reserved the right place. All our questions were answered and Myrtle met us at the ferry dock to make sure our vacation started off as smooth as possible. The home was amazing, even better than the pictures! We couldn't have asked for a better location, the views were spectacular. We will definitely be back!

Overall great property
This was a overall a great property at a reasonable price with nice views. We loved that beach towels and beach chairs were provided as well as kitchenware (a few dishes were dirty, but it would have been easy for cleaning folks to miss that so not a huge deal).
The only downside is that right now the house is for sale. One of the reasons we chose this property was for the privacy, but one day a pest control worker showed up unannounced, then a realtor called us and asked if she could show the house on a certain day and time, which we agreed to, but then an additional realtor came later that afternoon without warning to show the house to some other people while I was getting in the shower.
Still overall good property and you really don't need the A/C (even though they have it) because if you let the breeze flow the house in the evenings it's quite nice.

Estate Chocolate Hole and Great Cruz Bay
Overall the property was nice. It was clean and you had every utensil you needed to prepare foods and store them. Also plenty of towels for the beach and showers. The views were amazing. The property manager met us at the Ferry and then after we picked up our rental Jeep we followed her to the Villa. She showed us around answered all of our questions and then told us to call if we needed anything. We had a problem with the washer and called Curtis and I say within 15 min. someone came out and it was fixed.....the location of the Villa was good as well only about 8 mins. out of Cruz Bay. I rated this Villa a 4 not a 5 because of the following......the Laundry room, it really needed to be neatened up.....

Had a fabulous time back in St. John!
This was the first time back to St. John since the hurricanes, having gone there for nearly 16 years with my family. Also, the first time renting a house, as we always stayed at the Maho camps before it closed. This was great. The house was perfect in all ways - great location, great views and super comfortable. We were met at the ferry with our car and although we needed a help with tires mid-week, Curtis responded immediately and fixed things in a way that never interfered with our beach time. So great to be back on the island and look forward to our next trip!

Great location and beautiful views!
Our stay at Villa Catalina was great! There were seven of us ... my husband and I, our two kids ages 9 and 11 , my sister and my inlaws. The two bedroom suites on the main floor were spacious and the rooms and bath on the lower level were great for the remaining 3! The house was clean and kitchen was well equipped. We had an issue with one of the water heaters one morning while there and the property managers were extremely responsive and had the problem addressed that same day. We have stayed many times on the Coral Bay/Johns Folly side of the island, so staying in Fish Bay was new for us but we enjoyed it as well as the proximity to the grocery and town. The covered deck has fabulous views and plenty of seating, and then there is also open deck area for sunning and sitting near the pool.
Both deck areas have lounge chairs and tables and chairs. Thanks again!

Such an incredible house. It automatically felt like a home away from home. The views were incredible and the rooms are incredibly spacious . Dreamy 5-star Escape
I'm a regular user of home sharing sites and would rate Claudia's home as one of the nicest and best values of all the places we've enjoyed over the years. PROS: proximity to pristine beaches, private patio/pool, very clean, oversized showers with luxurious feel, bed like a cloud, location (close to groceries and attractions), engaged host. We were a family of six and there was plenty of room for all of us. We had a great time in the house. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. They had coolers, beach chairs and beach towels for the beach. Shade was provided by mangrove trees. You definitely need a car to get around the island. The house is less then 5 mins from the 2 major food markets and less then 10 min drive to Cruz Bay. Great house!

Outstanding property in an excellent location. Very helpful owner and property manager, responsive to all needs and questions. Very comfortable, roomy place for six adults for a week. (One very minor issue: don't try to put an adult on the rollaway bed. That was hilarious. Use the futon instead.) My whole family loved the place. We would definitely stay here again. Vacation in Paradise!!
We just returned from a week in St. John and the fabulous Villa Catalina. This vacation was truly amazing!! It was our second time on the island and our first at Villa Catalina. I cannot say enough how pleasant and easy it was to deal with the owner, Claudia. From start to finish this was truly easy breezy. The villa was exactly as pictured (even better in real life) It had everything you could possibly need to enjoy yourself on this little piece of Paradise called St. John. We were met at the ferry by Myrtle who was wonderful and patient while we dealt with renting our jeeps, etc. We were a family of 6; all adults (4 young adults) I would recommend this place for a large family or 3 couples traveling together. Waking up and seeing the Caribbean from your bed just cannot be beat!! Very peaceful and quiet location, only 10 minutes to Cruz Bay and about 20 minutes to the many amazing beaches of St. John. The villa is well maintained and cared for and it shows. Lots of books and games in case you are bored or need something to do; along with a beautiful new flat screen tv (which we never turned on!) Great wifi and cell service at the villa too. We cannot wait to come back!! Not to be missed.... Joe's Rum Hut, Rhumblines and the Longboard in Cruz Bay, Miss Lucy's in Coral Bay and of course, Columbo's Smoothie Stand on Centerline Road. We frequented Hawksnest Beach, Jumbie Beach, Cinnamon Bay, Maho Bay, Francis Bay, Salt Pond Bay and Drunk Bay. A different beach every day; what could be better?? Jeep rentals through St. John Car Rental; very easy to work with. We did a 1/2 day Catamaran snorkel sail on the Kekoa- would highly recommend. All girl crew was fantastic and fun. We hated to leave; truly. We will be back!!!! Thank you Claudia and Javier!!

Spectacular
I stayed at Villa Catalina in January with another couple with children. It was perfect! Claudia was very easy to work with and answered all of our questions. House managers were prompt picking us up at the dock and helped us getting our rental car and also settled in at the house. The house is beautiful, very clean, well maintained with the most spectacular views! The two bedrooms and baths upstairs were spacious, linens plentiful and beds very comfortable. The older kids stayed downstairs and they loved. Living room and kitchen had everything we needed, furniture was nice. Wifi and TV worked fine. Pool was great, nice to jump into after a day at the beach to rinse off, and very private. The deck was a perfect place to relax with an amazing view! , enough to seat a handful of people! We had a wonderful time on St John and absolutely loved this house! We will definitely be back!
