Enjoyed our week - swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding every day. Thanks Bob!

Very nice place. Loved having kayaks.

Loved our stay on Shore Drive on Onota Lake. The house has a fabulous layout with two porches, one enclosed, facing the lake and nearby green mountains. Two floors with ample space for a family to spread out, comfy beds, and well equipped kitchen.
4.8
Great location on the lake, we enjoyed eating meals on the enclosed deck and watching rowing practice in the evenings. The house was well appointed! My wife and I were staying with our daughter, son-in-law and their 14 month old. It worked wonderfully for us. They enjoyed taking a kayak out on the lake while we stayed with our granddaughter. All in all, a delightful experience!

My family of 3 plus extended family of 5 had a lovely stay at the lake house. The house is located on the the best part of Lake Onota, and had plenty of space for all us. We enjoyed swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding (our own personal SUP that we brought with us), and sitting by the fire at the edge of the water. The house was clean and organized just as described.
Centrally located, so short trips to Mt Greylock, Williamstown, North Adams (Mass MoCA), or Lenox (the Mount, Tanglewood) , are easy.
The Owner responded to my questions promptly.
We would absolutely stay here again!

Loved the house and the lake! Great location and great for fishing and enjoying the lake.

We had visited this gorgeous house for several days in the winter and just HAD to come back for a summer stay of seven days. The house was very clean both times, Bob was very helpful and answered all of my questions. There were plenty of towels, linens, water activities/equipment and a beautiful lake to enjoy just steps away. We brought a pontoon boat that just added to the fun and took advantage of the dock. Great place to visit, but would be even better to LIVE there:)

Great location, except for the noise from Camp Winadoo on some days

I loved the house. My only complaint was on the porch the table chairs were too tall, and the wicker furniture was too low. At 76 my legs swell when they dangle off hard seats, and then it was terribly hard for me and my elderly friends to heave ourselves up off of the wicker couch and chairs. Other than that it was great.
4.8
House was beautiful!! Plenty of space and it was nice letting the kids be downstairs in their own space. Close to stores, 10-15 minutes to to the main part of Pittsfield.

Great place, amazing view from the deck. Very responsive host. Our group had amazing time for our Christmas away.

This property is in a nice location ! Gorgeous house and sun room ! Well kept! Lots of kitchen dishes, pots n pans ! Process to rent was easy and owner supplied basic house information for checkin !

We stay in many rentals across the USA so we're put back when there were no basic needs available in this rental. Warning, they have the artificial smelling plug in's all over the house. It was so strong 2 of us had headaches. We unplugged all of them in the house upon arrival. No hairdryer, extra toilet paper, extra paper towels, saran wrap, foil, sugar and more. No rolling pin (we made apple pie) and borrowed from a neighbor. We went to the store first thing in the AM to gather supplies we assumed would be available. They ask you to clean your dishes but left no dishwasher liquid/pods. Our beds weren't made when we arrived and we got in very late which was a bummer. The check out rules state you are to wash your linens and put them back on your bed folded. We left at 5am so that was not an option and I found a very odd request. The bottom room has a LOUD de-humidifier that didn't do much to help the smell. The room is damp smelling all the time. We didn't spend any time down there. The lighting is very low. We moved lights from the bedrooms to play games at night. Now for the positive, the view is great. We loved waking up and having coffee in the sun room. We loved being with our friends so the trip was very good. I would not rent this again basically because we like to cook and entertain on vacation. Plus, we flew in from the West coast and need to have our rentals include the basics.

Although there are minor tweaks to improve comfort, the house was great and location and views were excellent. One suggestion for the owner would be to put a curtain rod across living room doors leading to sun room so they could be closed to keep the living room cool on summer afternoons. The beds were very comfy and all was clean and pretty. Advice to future guests - bring EVERYTHING but linens, even salt and pepper and aluminum foil. I have found most air b&bs do have these basics but maybe they had been left by earlier guests and not the owners.

We had a mix of sun and rain. We managed to escape all but a little rain at our concert at Tanglewood. We enjoyed a day of sun on the lake, with my husband casting away With his fishing poles on the dock. When rain became continual, we still enjoyed the gorgeous view from the comfy upstairs screened in sun room. Board games made the afternoon fun. Those of you with children will find the house delightfully stocked with games and puzzles. If the sun cooperates there are kayaks and a closetful of water floats and toys. I don't think any age renters or families would be disappointed on their VRBO decision.

We loved being at the wonderful property. The sunroom was a favorite place to enjoy the beautiful view of lake and mountains. Perfect house for accommodating the 5 of us. Fishing, kayaking, swimming, reading & playing board games were favorite pastimes. We saw Eagles on two different days. So hope to return in the future.

We had a fun, relaxing time. Beautiful place to enjoy natural beauty in a clean comfortable lake house.

Bob's house has an amazing location, right on one of the easier access points for Lake Onota. Several of us were casually fishing off the dock that weekend with our gear, and I would say we caught several dozens of fish. We also used several of the kayaks available, and they were generally in good shape for some peaceful paddling on the lake. We had a memorable time given the house amenities available, and we also used part of a day to rent a pontoon boat at the nearby marina, which was a great choice. The location is really impressive, and the house had good value, especially for early June when we visited.
The house itself served its purpose well, with features like a grill, a nice room overlooking the lake with a great view, and a full kitchen. There were several bedrooms, and one room full of bunks downstairs, which allows flexibility for many families. The bedroom downstairs was notably colder than the upstairs part of the house, so just need to plan accordingly there. As noted in the listing, the house is not fully stocked regarding cleaning and some cooking items. While understandable, it can be difficult to figure out everything you will need, as things like dish washing soap were not available. You are a short drive away from shops like Walmart, so can always take the trip if needed.
Despite our great stay overall, there are some additional items worth mentioning that left it less than perfect. First is that this listing has quite a few rules more than the typical listing on sites like these. These rules are generally well-communicated ahead of time, which is perfectly acceptable, but it is worth doing your homework. However, there was an issue with the house's dryer, which meant we could not efficiently dry our linens + towels as laid out in the house rules. The host acknowledged the issue and was great at communicating, but he was still expecting us to complete the majority of the washing/drying task before we checked out. I found this unfair, as this was clearly out of our hands and could not be simply fixed with a minor adjustment, with a helper only coming in the last couple hours of our stay. We did our best, and there was consensus that we did enough, but it just added stress and brought an unpleasant end to a great stay. Some upkeep was less than ideal, as the lawn was not cut recently (a misunderstanding), and other TLC needed. Overall, I'd give 4.5 stars for my stay, and expect this is a blip in a wonderful 5-star listing.

Our group of 8 adults had a wonderful stay at the lakehouse. The neighborhood was quiet and the lake was idyllic. All communication with the Bob was prompt and he was very helpful. He even went the extra mile and agreed to mail us a shirt that one of our group left behind. The house was clean and is as represented in the photos. The carpet in the master bedroom, and the rooms downstairs could use some updating, but everything was clean. Renters should be aware of the policy that you have to wash all sheets before your 11:00 am check out. This was a bit difficult since we had used 6 beds.

This beautiful lake house was very clean and comfortable with all the promised amenities. Bob was very accommodating and responded to all of my questions promptly. We would love to see the property in the summer to fully appreciate the water!

We had a lovely time and the property was nice.
I didn't like being responsible for cleaning the sheets at the end of our stay only because we had to be out at 11 and I had teenagers with me. Additionally, it did make me nervous that the people before us didn't wash the sheets.
Kayaks were great, the lake was delightful, and the neighbors were friendly.

Would I stay here again? No. Not for that price. But to be fair, let me start with what's good about the place and then get into why I gave it a 3 star rating instead of 4 or 5. It's a cute home that would nicely accommodate a second family downstairs or even 4-6 kids in the 3rd "bunk bed" bedroom. Lots of kids' life vests, water toys and board games - and an abundance of towels including swimming towels - no shortage there. Pretty mornings in August with a beautiful lakefront view. The mallards, canada geese and occasional heron along with the chattering sparrows that live on the property are a lovely reminder of nature's harmony.
However, the reasons I would not rent this place again for the price they charge are numerous, but mainly because it was not the peace and quiet and serenity I was hoping for in the Berkshire mountains.
I don't think the owner stays here with any regularity, or he would have repaired things that are broken:
- broken stove burner
- broken ironing board
- broken kayak seat
- Internet router in basement cuts out at least 3 times when streaming a 90 minute movie.... (is it out? wait maybe not, give it a minute. Nope, it's definitely out. OK let me reset the TV - 3 times!!)
- kitchen garbage disposal smelly and doesn't have a switch
- broken vertical blinds throughout the house
- guest bedroom blinds don't cover the whole window so neighbor's spotlight shines in window at night
- nightlight bulbs burned out - no replacements
- seat of patio chairs on lower porch are sunken and paint chips come off on your arm
- garage door handle lock is broken
- smelly couch cushions
- filthy master bedroom carpet
- Next door neighbor's stereo blasted on level 10 literally all-day with their windows open - finally on 2nd day we mentioned it and they stopped
- NO nightstands or reading lamps in master bedroom - furniture that doesn't fit the room - I've never stayed at a place without nightstands except in Guatemala
- kitchen was disorganized with no paring knives or vegetable peelers (these are basic items if you happen to cook)
- the biggest worst problem is Camp Winadu directly across the lake - a boys camp of about 120 boys with activites that involve yelling, loud club music, a bullhorn, chanting and singing that begins at 8AM and sometimes doesn't end until 10PM at night - the noise travels directly across the water
Noisy families with lots of kids might like this place, but we did not (for the price).

Great house, clean & comfortable. Kitchen well equipped & Weber grill worked great. Beautiful views from the upstairs sun room & from the downstairs covered deck. Walk several steps from the deck down to the large dock. Dock has ladder steps for easy access into the clean & clear water with a sandy bottom for swimming. We were also on our paddle boards every day & it was a plus when some mornings the lake was smooth as glass. Lots of fun & it was a wonderful vacation week.

The property has a great location - right on the lake and centrally located with easy access to Williamstown, Great Barrington, Stockbridge, various waterfalls, etc. The highlight of the house is the big screen porch overlooking the lake. The 2 kids each had their own set of bunkbeds, so no fighting over top bunk. The downstairs patio and lawn area are also really nice. There are 4 kayaks you can take out on the lake - the morning is the best time, before it gets choppy. I highly recommend bringing or renting bikes and riding the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail, which runs through North Adams, Adams and Pittsfield. Beautiful trail and very kid-friendly. You can rent bikes from Berkshire Outfitters in Adams, right near the trail.

Classic lakehouse on an awesome lake. Wake up in the morning and have your coffee outside on the deck. The lake is not super busy so no issues with using the kayaks provided. Plenty of kitchen utensils and settings. The only thing we did not like was the outside grill is in rough shape, not a deal breaker at all. We will for sure look at this property again!
