Wonderful time with friends and family . The house was just as described-rustic, older, the bedrooms are small except for the master- but we didn’t go there to sleep - so it got 5 stars. If you want a high end fancy home, then go pay the price for that. The house was more than adequate for a very reasonable price. Waterfront, in a quiet neighborhood , delightful deck/ hot tub/ view. The homeowner was very attentive, responded quickly, and took care of everything we needed.

This property was as listed and as stated in other reviews be prepared to stub your toes from time to time as the floor level changes a number of times by half an inch to 1 inch & these little “steps” blend in with the floor. The views of the lake are spectacular and it’s in a very quiet part of the area. Really well equipped with one exception, we couldn’t find a can opener to save our soul. All in all we had a lovely time and would not hesitate to rent it again

You have to find the house first. Road addresses are weird and the house does not have a number posted. If you look for the house, you will not find it as the picture is of the back of the house. There is a sign that in small letters that says WHISPERING PINES, but the sign mainly advertises the management company. The key pad is very small and shaded by the doorknob. Very hard to see at night. You enter on the bedroom floor which means you have to go downstairs to the kitchen and living area. VERY steep steps. There are ~2 inch steps as you move from room to room. Good for stubbing toes, only once, or tripping. The floors, especially in the kitchen, are not level so you think you are getting dizzy. Although wood paneling and ceiling are pretty, it leaves a dark atmosphere. It took quite a while for the house to heat up on the chilly days. At the end of the registration, there is a second security deposit that you do not get back and the refundable deposit just got posted 2 weeks later. No cell service. Being generous with the 3 rating. No go.

To start off when we arrived, we walked into the most adorable room with a family game table That is when we discovered how whimsical and eclectic this home is ! EVERY room a little inspiration. The views were amazing as well We loved the convenience to historic Oakland and several state parks Including Swallow Falls Love this place

We truly enjoyed our 4 day stay during the beautiful Fall season. Our weather was fantastic and we loved sitting by the lake and using the fire pit and hot tub! We hiked New Germany State Park, Big Run State Park, Herrington Manor State Park as well as Deep Creek State Park. We enjoyed it all!!

Very relaxing place. Beautiful views! Had everything i wanted to have a relaxing getaway and unwind.

The cottage was quaint and cozy. But watch out for sudden level changes. There are these little step ups thru the whole house and they blend in with the wood floors. Many of stubbed toes and trips

It was lake access, a boat ramp, and positive reviews that drew me in. Once on-site, I was able to see that this house needs attention - especially the first floor. The electrical outlet in the kitchen was hanging out of the wall. There were ants on the countertop despite our efforts to keep clean. And the uneven floors caused more than one stubbed toe. Renovations are required to raise the quality of the property.

We visited for just a few days and this place met all of our needs. The lakefront property was beautiful. We celebrated 4th of July on the water and were able to dock our boat right at the house making water sports an ease. The house was in great condition and dog friendly. We loved using the hot tub and having an evening fire lakefront. The beds were comfy and the house was decorated to please the eye! No major issues and we would return again.

Our holiday stay was a pure delight. The charming fireplace added a cozy touch, perfect for chilly evenings, and the private beach was simply breathtaking. Additionally, Scott was incredibly responsive, ensuring that any questions or concerns were addressed in a timely manner. Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway.

The property is located perfectly inside of Deep Creeks inlets and had such amazing views. Check in/out was simple and straightforward. The hot tub was awesome and took advantage of the great views! A+++ loved our stay, wish we could’ve stayed longer.

The house is a little dated and needs some TLC, but that did not detract from the stay. The location was spectacular. Even in the cooler weather we enjoyed fishing and kayaking. A 20 minute drive can get you to almost anything you need. Communication with the host was speedy.

Quiet in the winter. Lots of space to spread out. Hot tub is nice and the kids enjoyed the frozen lake.

We really enjoyed get family together at this location from the Midwest and the East Coast. The location is more of a lake cottage/ski resort feeling but it is away from the crowds. We were there during Christmas, and it was everything we hoped for. The lake was frozen and there was snow. We even brought our own Christmas Tree and enjoyed Christmas morning around the fireplace looking out over the snowy lake. It was a wonderful place to gather with family!

Nice little place right on the water. Surprisingly the hot tub was one of the highlights of our stay. Cozy room downstairs where we spent most of our time. Kitchen is open and made for an easy time of being together. Only negative aspects were that the pots and pans were in need of replacing. I get it is a home that many people use and not in need of the most high end supplies but many of them were dirty with burnt on residue and had seen better days. Also, the grill did not work. It would never get above 150. This was a problem because two of our meals were planned around usage of the grill. We did enjoy our stay and time together.

Great location close to everything but nice and quiet. This is our second time staying here and we'll definitely be back.

Overall we are very pleased with our rental. If I could recommend a change then it would be to taper the doorway areas on the uneven floor elevations upstairs. It would not stop me from returning if it’s not done but it would be safer. Thanks

We had a wonderful time in this eclectic home. We loved all the artwork the location and really enjoyed the hot tub. Would recommend this property.

We really liked the property! Liked the 2 living rooms. Location is great. House had everything we needed. My pups loved it. And it was my birthday! Rented a boat and we went everywhere. Restaurant were great. Only complaint was the weather!!! Out of your control and mine.. But regardless had a great time !

This is a nice place but it is a little run down and the beds are terribly noisy. The floor in the kitchen is a bit gross. The downstairs bathroom had a funny smell to it and the pits and pans could use some updating. The view of the lake is spectacular. The outdoor space and the hot tub were excellent. I would stay here again, but updates to the items above would be nice to have. The owner is very responsive.

Their were several issues with this property upon our arrival to include: cleanliness, safety concerns for children, overgrown yard, mold, and overall not as represented in listing. We contacted the manager, explained the concerns and he granted us a full refund. He apologized and said we would address all our concerns.

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at this amazing house. We had a great time relaxing on the deck, in the hot tub. My husband and grandkids fished from the dock. It was nice having a private dock to be able to park the boat at. Our dogs even enjoyed just laying on the shaded deck. Wonderful vacation!

The location and boat slip were ideal. The dock could use a little tlc. But overall ok. The house is fairly easy to find once you drive around a few times missing it. First impressions were that they needed aomeone to routinely care for the exterior.; there were leaves, pine needmes, etc all over the ealks and steps which were a bit slippery. Heading down the side steps, it looked as if a small animal, we were hoping small anyhow, had been killed and the fur was everywhere. The deck is nice but as stated in other reviews the overgrown bushes block a beautiful view of the lake. The deck could also use some attention as it was covered in cobwebs, pine needles, leaves, etc. There were several broken chairs, one wooden one and one plastic one. Therefore we didn't have enough chairs for around the fire pit for the 6 of us. Hot tub was a nice add. The fire pit wasnt anything special and you really had to be careful not to tip over backswards, the area is not level at all. Outsode lighting was non existent so the stsors at night were very treacherous. Inside the house was ok.; more camplike which was fine. Our main complaint would be that it just wasnt convenient. When they send you a list of what they supply, they arent kidding. Thats it. We had to head back to the grocery store and buy all condiments, sugar, etc. Paper towels and toilet paper were not supplied either. Cleanliness was ok. Nothing major there. We did enjoy the stay and because we were there to boat the lake we did not spend a huge amount of time in the house but we felt like the amount we were charged for rent , a few of these issues could be fixed and some money put towards some updates. It could be a really great rental if the owners took some things into consideration.

House is well positioned for paddlers/kayakers - can head up the 2 coves for relaxed paddle, or head to main channel for a challenging outing. Then, relax in the hot tub. A fire in the pit at night finishes off a great day. Also it's just a few minutes drive to the State park for some hiking. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
