We enjoyed our stay. Very clean property, beautiful beach, quiet neighborhood. The furniture is older but with small children it worked well for us. Read the details carefully. The trek down the stairs to the property is no joke!

I can't say enough about the owner and the property itself. You are right on the lake with a view and location that is unbeatable in my opinion. The property was absolutely spotless, I loved Susan (owner) sharing the history of the property and was accessible to any questions. Excellent location to any area attractions...but you won't want to leave the property because of the peaceful surroundings and view. Will be back without a doubt.

Would definitely stay again

When we looked at renting on the lakeshore we didn’t know and understand exactly how these home rentals operate - tourists, newbies! We loved it immediately! Right at the beach and lake in a home obviously loved by the owners. The way the vintage and the up to date blended was perfect for us. We felt comfortable Susan would help us with whatever we might need. We highly recommend this property and owner/manager. The Wennings

This was our second stay at this location. We love the proximity to the lake - wonderful views from all the windows and access right outside the door. Susan is always so easy to work with!

This place is paradise ! We had a wonderful stay and every morning and evening was a blast with amazing sunrises and sunsets. The outside is just surreal and so beautiful. Walking distance by the beach to the national Park was such a great opportunity to hike. The bungalow is super nice and cosy, views are exceptional!! Only downside for us : you have someone above your head... just pray they are considerate people, like the neighbors we had.

The cottage is right on Lake Michigan with private beach area. Rooms were comfortable and up to date. Only downside is the steps to get up and down dune. Two sisters as owners were very polite and responsive to any needs

Overall our stay was great despite some cold weather. The views from the units are amazing. Wonderful customer service and clean. Everything you need for a relaxing vacation. Can't wait to go back in the summer. The stairs to/from are many. We'd have packed lighter had we realized.

Easy to work with the owner via text. We met the owner outside and masked in order to know where to park and how to access the unit. Unit was very clean, cozy, with good view of the lake. As others have pointed out, there are about two flights of stairs in order to access the rental. To note - the room with twin beds has french doors to the living area, a window on the side (by the kitchen), and a door and two small windows to the other bedroom. The views, being right on the water, and walking distance to the dunes (state park) really made our stay worthwhile.

Impressed with the care around cleaning, including all beds with hospital corners, every towel perfectly in place, frig and stove pristine. Right on the water with great set up of chairs, bonfire, kayak if you want, and a half mile walk to enter the Dunes park for free. Comfortable and convenient get away!

Wonderful time great rental master bedroom mattress was a little hard

It was as close to perfect for me as one can get! The cottage was lovely, the beach area was small this year, but private and peaceful. Everything the kids and adults needed for entertainment was there. The dunes and dune grasses and flowers were picturesque with little paths through the grasses. The only thing wrong was that we could not stay as long as I would have liked! Susan was a splendid hostess! And our next door neighbor who has spent summers there since he can remember when he was 3 was a true gem! What a spectacular vacation place! I can't believe we didn't know about this years ago!

We had a wonderful trip. The property was nice and cozy, and we had our own little beach area to ourselves. The stairs were very challenging for us with two kids under the age of two. We would stay here again when they are older and able to help transport luggage to and from the car to the cottage.

Great location with access to the National Park and the train

We were unaware that this rental was a duplex. Not a big fan of upstairs neighbors. Caution tape across the beautiful view was a bit tacky. Rental was nice, clean. There are a lot of stairs down to the house and back up to parking lot. Would be difficult for some people with mobility issues to get to. The view is amazing and the private beach is great but u do have to share with the upstairs neighbors. Coin laundry available which is a plus. Overall we had a wonderful stay. Property should be described in more detail so people know that it is a duplex and that it may be physically difficult for some to climb the stairs. Kitchen was missing can opener and pizza cutter but did have everything else we needed.

We had a lovely girls trip to the Dunes. This property was very clean and well stocked with most anything you might need. The bedroom arrangement is odd. You can walk through the triple-twin bedroom to get to the second bedroom. There are doors for privacy. It worked for us. Even though the description of the place speaks about the stairs from the main road to the cottage; be forewarned that the road from parking and the stairs are quite steep. Fortunately, my friends and I are in fair shape for middle aged women and managed; however, carrying luggage and coolers was a challenge. The stairs are poorly lit at night. The other safety concern is the sea wall. There is yellow and black caution tape stretched across it but I would be very cautious of young children on the property. The owner does require every quest to sign a release of liability from injury before renting the property. Overall, the beach location is near perfect as the actual beach area in front of the property can be affected by the lake tide. On the first few days, the lake tide was splashing against and over the sea wall so accessing the beach from this property was not possible unless you wanted to wade in knee deep cold water (we were traveling in early October). A short drive can get you to Porter beach. By the third day the water had receded enough to access the beach. I suppose that is a risk you take renting on any waterfront property. All in all, we had a wonderful time. The owner was accommodating and quick to reply. We look forward to returning again as long as our knees hold up.

The location was perfect for enjoying both the Beach/Lake and easy access into Indiana Dunes State Park and hiking trails. The cottage is small and cozy but worked perfect for our family of 5. We were pleasantly surprised that they had equipment ( kayaks, SUP, life jackets, etc) that we could use on the Lake.

We enjoyed our time here - this was our second visit. The property is right on the beach, with just enough privacy but also close to activities for our kids. The owners were very responsive to our needs before and during our stay. Looking forward to coming back.

My third or fourth stay at this property. Right on the beach, can walk to the dunes, always very clean. Thanks for another great stay.

Susan was very welcoming, even re-printing a voucher we had accidentally left at home for the Shedd Aquarium. The cottage was clean, and well-situated, almost directly on the beach! About 5 minutes from Dunes Park Station of the South Shore Line, super easy to get into the city for a day adventure. We’re coming back!

The sound of waves crashing and the 180 degree view of the water was very nice! The cabin we stayed in was on the bottom floor. Not sure that was obvious from the picture or description. Not a significant difference other than our imagination was the view may have been even more spectacular above. This rental has 55 stairs and a hill to circumnavigate. Pack light and limit the number of trips required to and from the parking lot. The space was clean but a little tired. Susan and her son were great hosts and even helped us make a trip to unload.

We throughly enjoyed our long October break weekend at this property. It was a perfect space for my husband, me and our two kids (8/11). There are a ton of stairs as is mentioned in the description and other reviews. Pack light and in smaller bags. Kudos to the owners in keeping this property in fantastic and extremely clean condition. There is a tv in the living room and master bedroom. Both have HDMI and USB inputs to use your streaming stick, and there is a dvd (not Blu Ray) player in the living room. Google Chromecast is in the living room, but we were never able to access it due to lower WiFi speeds. Download speeds jumped from 1.10 to 4.5 when testing. Assuming it was bogged down a bit once other folks jumped on the network. There is little to no cell phone coverage (which we were ok with). Kitchen is fully equipped for cooking meals. Hand wash dishes, no dishwasher. Things to bring- paper towels, shower soap, firewood for the firepit. Owners do everything they can to help when needed. They are close by and can be reached with questions during your stay. 100% recommended as long as you can do 50 stairs plus an uphill walk to the car.

Right on the beach. Clean, comfortable, modern, interior. Ericka and Susan are beautiful people. They made sure we were settled in the house and did not need anything. I cannot express how pleasantly surprised we were with the entire package! I got some beautiful pictures of the Chicago skyline.

This place comes as advertised. The views are amazing and the cottage itself is lovely. My wife and I enjoyed our time here immensely. My only caution would be the stairs heading down to the cottage. If you have a difficult time navigating stairs, this might not be the best place for you. But if stairs don't bother you, than you will not be disappointed with your stay here. Susan was wonderful to work with. If I had any questions or needed any recommendations, she would respond to my texts within minutes and provided some great help. We took the train into Chicago on one of our days and had a wonderful time enjoying the city. Hard to go wrong with a vacation spot that offers solitude on the Lake and yet is an hour train ride to Chicago! I would highly recommend that you consider booking your Indiana Dunes vacation here!
