This was our 2nd year staying at your cottage and we already booked for next year- The outdoor space is what keeps us coming back- It is perfect for our family I was disappointed when we saw all the ants that were in the house especially the kitchen- we did buy ant traps and it did resolve this-

Our group included my husband, myself, our older daughter, her husband and 3 month old baby, our younger daughter, and our two dogs. The house is in a gorgeous location right on the lake, with its own small beach, which was perfect for our plans for a quiet relaxing week. We were also very excited to have use of the kayaks - the lake is ideal for that! It seems like the house has undergone some renovations and maybe got stalled in the process. The living room, dining room, and some of the kitchen seem to have been updated, and the bedrooms were okay, but there wasn't anywhere to put clothes - no dressers or shelves, only a closet bar with a few hangers. We had trouble with the septic system after a couple days, but the owner was quick to respond and sent a repairman first thing the following morning, so we only had to live without toilets for one night, thank goodness. The house did have many extras for the baby and for the dogs, which was greatly appreciated.

We booked this stay for our mom and dad’s mothers/ Father’s Day gift. The idea was to spend the weekend together as a family with the kids and the dogs to use the beach, swim, canoe, etc. I had reached out to the owner through vrbo and personal email asking questions about check out time and never received a response. When we got there the place looked nice but the back yard had such long grass that we had to weed wack. The deck was covered in dirt and looked like it hadn’t been visited in a while. The canoe that they advertised had no seats and couldn’t be used. After swimming in the water for the first night and next morning we became aware that the water was dangerous and had a high level of Cyanobacteria. Thank goodness the kids didn’t get sick after being exposed for an extended amount of time. House has potential but the yard should be cleaned before people come.

I had an incredible experience at this property! It truly has everything you could ask for. The space is perfect for accommodating a great group, with ample room and a lively atmosphere. The lake access adds an extra layer of enjoyment, and the patio is absolutely amazing. I couldn't recommend it more highly!

Really spacious home, in a nice neighborhood. We came here in the winter and it was beautiful, but I can’t imagine how beautiful it is in the summer with the lake right out in the backyard.

We were 6 adults and 3 teens in this lovely home with enough space and seating to accommodate all of us comfortably. The house was very clean and was true to the description. Having plenty of seating outside was wonderful and the option of being in the sun or the shade was a real plus. Some of the outside chairs were not usable due to wear but even with that, we were able to manage without difficulty. One thing I would mention though is that if you plan to cook meals for a large hungry group, you might consider bringing one of your larger pots (we had to cook 2 lbs of spaghetti in 2 batches). This rental is still worth a 5 star rating.

Private dock, kayaks, canoe and peddleboat. Kids loved using the slide and floating trampoline. Highly recommend!

Not prepared for our stay
As our vacation approached I tried many times to contact our contact person listed the letter we received with our check in info. I started on My 31st with an email followed by text messages then by phone, all with no luck. My many calls to Evolve and VRBO were ignored, with many promises to get back to me still with no luck!
We checked in on June 18th and found the outside unkept, the decks and beach were not ready for use, there was 2 small bags of frozen ice cubes in the freezer but no ice maker or ice cube trays to make more… we are on a beach vacation and can’t even put ice in our drinks! We cooked a steak dinner to celebrate our 1st night but there were only 3 dinner plates (This house slept 14!) and only 2 steak knifes, which we had to share!!!!! We paid $8300 to stay here and it was supposed to have a fully equipped kitchen, which was not true! There was no laundry detergent left in the jug provided, no, extra trash bags which we were told to use, the shower handle kept falling off (it was very heavy and could have hurt someone) the hand soap dispenser in the main bathroom seemed to have been watered down that among other small things just weren’t right for the price we paid !
The worst thing of all though was when I finally got a text message from our contact persons husband, I returned his text with a phone call in which he told me that his wife had died 2 weeks before (how could I complain about his home now)…. I was treated very unfairly and I can’t get any compensation from either Evolve or VRBO since neither one will return a call with the answers I am looking for!!! I feel bad for the next renters !!!

We had an amazing stay here! The property is on the lake, gorgeous, very fitting for a large group of varying ages - we were celebrating my dad's 70th birthday, and had 2 families with young kids, 2 babies and adults
The place is very well equipped, with games, the lake has canoes, a slide, a floating trampoline dock - really everything a kid could want :) The kitchen is very well equipped, great grill, wonderful gazebo to sit and eat watching the lake, a fire pit, breathtaking sunsets - a dream. We had an amazing time and can't wait to return!
There were very clear instructions in a folder, and when I couldn't find a light switch I was given help.

Here for an extended family Thanksgiving, LOVED the home, the location(!), and very accommodating all around. 13 of us at any given time and the size was just right. We felt very “at home.” Impressed with management and ease of use. HIGHLY recommend!!

We had a "framily" reunion at this beautifully located property. It is obvious that the owners take a lot of pride in their property from the tasteful decorations and welcoming atmosphere! Being pet friendly was definitely a plus and the owners were more than helpful with providing information and responding to questions. I hope to visit again someday!

Great Little Spot on Locke Lake
The owners, Larry and Yazmin are great. Very responsive and present. We had a lot of rain on our vacation and with eight adults, two toddlers and some dogs we spent a good amount of time inside and under the deck awning. The property handled all of this very well. Plus the property has AC and a generator and this helped as power went out a few times and it was very hot on a few days. I cannot say the same about the Evolve group. Taking four weeks to respond to my email request with a standard template email sent by "Evolve Vacation Rental" with no contact person is not my idea of service.

This house was perfect for our group of 12.
Bummer that it was the winter but the outdoor space has a ton of usable waterfront space that would be enjoyable for large groups.

All the extras at the property were definitely a plus, and unexpected!!! We brought beach stuff with us, but there was so much there we probably didn’t need anything. And, all the amenities in the house were unexpected too! Thank you to the owners... such a nice touch. Feel bad that we were loud one night and they got complaints. We hadn’t been together as a family in quite some time, and we forgot how noise travels on the water... thank you for being understanding and bringing it to our attention in such a nice manner. We had a wonderful 2020 family vacation!!

Great property for families
My family and I had a great time on this beautiful property. The property had everything we needed. The children enjoyed jumping off the dock and riding the kayaks. The fire pit and grill were a plus. We enjoyed making s’mores and sitting by the fire. We spend our days outside enjoying all the amenities. The neighbors were very friendly. The only negative was the bottom of the water once you got about knee deep. It was very mushy. The lake was great for fishing. The house was very clean and tidy. Thank you for sharing your home with us! We made wonderful memories here! We would definitely recommend this home to others and hope to return next year.

Barnstead rental
Home is larger than it appears outside. Functions very well for a larger group. We had 9 adults and 3 children and were quite comfortable. The beach at the house is awesome and made for kids!!! They loved it! We did bring our own kayaks and happy we did. Overall a very nice stay.

Locke Lake
The Lake is not great; shallow, lots of weeds floating upon the shore, beach at the Lake house is mucky when you go beyond your knees. This was disappointing. The listing needs to be updated to show a summer picture as opposed to a winter picture. The Lake House is wonderful, it is clean and has all the amenities you would ever want. The Property owner is awesome to work with. The geese fence needs to be up 100% of the time to avoid what happened to us: poop all over the lawn and beach. Took 2 people, 2 hours to clean it up.
