Literally on the border between Spain and Portugal, this is the old customs house – an elegant rural mansion only a few kilometres from Villanueva del Fresno in one direction and Mourão in the other, surrounded by farmland. The décor is amazing: lots of polished timber furniture, flowers everywhere, common areas with TVs and plenty of soft, comfy seating... Having a full dining room and kitchen facilities downstairs is the icing on the cake. For anyone with their own transport, this is a dream location. And best of all: Ángela speaks both Spanish and English fluently.

Absolutely nothing at all – it was perfect. (I've already been back for two more stays.)

The location was simply spectacular. This is Extramadura as it should be. The owner was not there but communicated very well. We found the key and the facilities as described.

The breakfast was poor. Luckily we had brought our own. It took a while to figure out that the coffee machine did not work because a tray was missing; we found that somewhere in the kitchen.

Staff friendly and helpful and spacious accommodation. Quiet. Gvfm with breakfast

Further from the town than indicated in the information, a little isolated. Beds could be morecomfortable
