Another summer vacation and it did not disappoint. Fourth time back and we love everything about this place. Location is the best, communication with the owner has been great every time. Looking forward to next year already.

The photos do not do this little gem justice. The hosts are also very hospitable and willing to ensure your happiness.
There is certainly a warm feeling to this place. If you're looking for new european/modern stype stuff, this is not it. But, to me, this is 100 times better. It feels like I stayed at at relative's home. It is homy, well maintained, comfortable, cozy, well equipped - really anything you want in a S. Florida beach home. It is perfect for St. Augustine and situated in a perfect, quiet spot - very convenient. The name suits it well... A hidden secret...

The home is big and beautifully decorated and very welcoming. We all absolutely loved it. Lots of space for everyone to sit and eat together, gather on the deck and cozy up in the living room to watch a movie together. Sunroom was nice with a wall full of games, table to sit and chat and daybed for the teens. There was 10 of us staying with plenty of room. The deck in the morning was my favorite, watching the sunrise from the ocean first thing in the morning just set for a wonderful day.
There was everything provided in the kitchen that we needed, from muffin pans to dish soap. All we had to do was buy groceries from Publix which was just down the street. We brought bikes so the kids explored the island, we loaded a cart and walked just feet to the beach from the back door and at night drove minutes across the bridge to visit the downtown of St. Augustine.
The beds and linen were comfortable and clean, bedrooms open and airy with lots of daylight sun. Master bathroom is huge and there is a smaller hallway bathroom. New oversized towels were nice to wrap up in after a day at the beach and a shower. Plenty of hot water with one shower after another for the 10 of us. I loved that we had the use of a washer and dryer too, a must for when you're on vacation.
Vilano beach is very clean and quiet, and the neighborhood is just as quiet and clean. We will be back and hope to stay here again. Thanks for making our stay and vacation easy and memorable.

House was large enough for the 7 of us had plenty of items in the kitchen to prepare meals. The master shower was upgraded from the other tub/shower combo in the hall bathroom which was a very green shower/tub combo. My husband didn't like the fact that we shared the public beach access but at the end of the trip he loved the people watching from the deck. My son and his family came for a day of off shore fishing which ended up being canceled due to weather. We spent the day hanging out on the deck people watching.

Great location! The walkway to the beach was right outside our door. Great views of the ocean and starry skiesfrom the deck.

Ocean front a great plus--no long treks to the beach. Owners very responsive, e.g., supplied electric frying pan upon request within a day and disposed of a rickety chair.

Wonderful! Everything you could need, Mr. Porter supplies! Very quick to respond to messages. Location was great, steps from the beach. The entrance to the beach is a public entrance as well, so lots of people walking by, but it didnt bother us any. The only suggestion I have is it needs a bigger trash can in the kitchen, such a minor thing though! We had a great time!

All you have to do is read the reviews to know how amazing this place is but the pictures do not do it justice , what a wonderful home and great location we will definitely be back.

Me and my family really enjoyed our stay. Location was amazing and everything was as-advertised, but what really set Mr. Porter’s property aside from others was the attention to details. Coffee bags available, soap, basic things you’re going to need as you arrive before you make a run to the supermarket. I would certainly stay here again!

We stayed at A Hidden Secret Jun 17-24. Six adults ages 21 thru 68 and two 8 yo girls. 2 vehicles, one of which was a full size pickup.
1. Communication: Mr. Porter responded to any and all communication in a fast and friendly manner.
2. A Hidden Secret: The name says it all. The Porter Family are truly sharing their home. You have a "welcome" feeling as soon as you walk in. Extremely comfortable, up to date and roomy. Back deck is spacious and the high adirondack chairs are a nice touch. The beach access is so close it is virtially 5 steps off the ramp. The beach itself is great.
3. Parking is a breeze, we had 2 vehicles and no problem
4. Anything you want to do within St. Augustine is only minutes away. The locals are all very friendly and down to earth. (Would HIGHLY recommend Columbia Restaurant, no matter your tastes you will not be disappointed.
Overall: A fantastic time was had by all. Everyone loved everything about the Beach House. It stormed off and on, we enjoyed our stay immensely in spite of the weather. Honestly it is hard to explain in a few words how great the house and surrounding area is. In tje words of our 8 year old daughter, that house was lovely. Let it suffice to say, we look forward to a return trip.

House is clean and well equipped. A couple of uncomfortable things were the low chairs for the high dining table and the uncomfortable downward slant of the head of the mattress on the king bed. Also, it was a challenge to get into king bed because of mattress height off of floor.

This house has a fantastic location on the beach! Very roomy and well equipped. Only a couple minutes from groceries and about a 10-15 minute drive to the historic district. William could not have been a more gracious and accommodating host.

My Family of 6 had a blast at this gem of a property. The location was perfect. Quick walk to the ocean for the family. We spent a couple days at the beach and the we went to downtown to site see the fort and the and the local shops. Trolly tour was close as well. Best part is we could walk to the Publix for groceries.
When we come back to St Augustine thus will have to be base camp against
Only suggestion would be to have some standard spices, but no the end of the world.
Oh and the beds!! Super comfy.

The house has been redone on the inside and is very nice. It will sleep 11. The kitchen had pots and pans and all the dishes you'd need to cook a meal. The house is right on the beach. Unfortunately you can't see but a view of water because of the vegetation in front of the very nice deck. That's not the fault of the homeowners however...you're not allowed to mess with vegetation on the beach because of erosion. We would definitely stay here again. There are many great restaurants near and also St. Augustine is just a few miles away.

Great House - Great Location!
The location of this house is perfect! The beach access point is literally about ten steps from the back deck. Vilano is quiet and family friendly, which was exactly what we were looking for. St. Augustine is a quick, 15-20 minute drive away. We were amazed at how clean and well stocked the house was! We had ample kitchen supplies to prepare several meals. We’ve stayed in many rentals and this one definitely surpassed them all. William was so helpful and responded quickly to every inquiry. I highly recommend this unit! Can’t wait to visit Vilano again!

More for your money
I’ve seen and rented several Vilano Beach pet-friendly homes and this was is by far the best value. The house is in very good condition and a 1-minute walk to the beach via a public walkway.
The only things that could improve our stay are likely not something the owner can control and that’s direct view of the beach (dunes and shrubs block most of the beach the view but you can hear the waves).
But would highly recommend this property for dog lovers, as walking the neighborhood and the beach is easy to do with dogs. And Publix is just a 3-minute walk, with the pier another 5 minutes from there.
William was responsive and even surprised us with a new couch we got to enjoy. Thanks!

You can't beat the location of this property. It is close to everything you need. Plenty of space for everyone and very comfortable beds. All in all, a GREAT option.

Great for large families
Our family of nine (mom, dad, kids ages 2-18) had plenty of room and comfortable sleeping arrangements at this rental. The kitchen is well-equipped and the kids found building blocks and beach toys ready to be played with. The boardwalk to the beach is right off the deck and the outdoor shower made cleaning up easy when we came back from playing in the sand. The location couldn’t be better, with a Publix and pizzeria less than five minutes’ walk from the house. We did a lot of sight-seeing in the historic part of St. Augustine and the drive there was only about ten minutes. I would stay in this rental again!
