We had omelettes, toast and coffee both mornings. Johnson delivered them to our balcony. It was a lovely relaxed breakfast. We went on the backwater canoe exploration that he recommended which was fantastic. Cherry had an ayurvedic massage Johnson recommended and he kept my beer cold in the kitchen fridge.

We stayed in Johnston's cheapest room and it met our expectations. The beds were a little hard but that's India. En-suite toilet and shower were clean and roomy.

AC was strong, breakfast and lunch were home cooked by a very nice woman.

Room was up a rickety flight of stairs that felt like a construction zone, bathroom was partially exposed with no shower barrier so showering required flooding the floor (obviously no body wash provided) and and acoustics allowed you to directly hear everything in other bathrooms nearby. Floor was peeling, comforters were scratchy wool, door didn’t properly close so you either had to leave it ajar and risk bugs or lock friends inside if they were still in there. Our room was not ready at check in, host forgot he had organized a canoe tour for us so that started late, squeezed us into his car to get there (while actively asking us about the Israel - Hamas war when he clearly disagreed with our opinions) then only 2/4 guests could sit comfortably in the canoe, run by his chef friend instead of a proper tourism company. Natural beauty was nice but the tour was the opposite of premium and certainly not worth the nearly $50 usd charged for the simple meal, snacks, and basic rowboat. The host also claimed he didn’t have a credit card reader and we had to pay for both the tour and accommodation in cash (which he told us while standing shirtless in his boxers) contrary to the booking.com listing. I have never felt so misled in my life by a booking.com rating/ listing, and would not recommend this unless you are a 19 year old looking for hostel-type experience on a budget. I didn’t check google reviews before checking in but this host has a history of berating and gaslighting guests. We were on edge during our stay and I have no doubt he’ll have some choice words for us as well so booking.com, please take note.

Friendly and relaxed homestay in a convenient location between the beach and the town. Johnson, the owner, is very helpful with suggestions about things to do and encourages guests to join together on trips, which helps to save money and is also a nice way to get to know new people! I really enjoyed the shikara ride and canoe village tour organised by the homestay. I opted for the sunrise village tour and saw huge flocks of cormorants as well as eagles, kingfishers, and lots of interesting village life. The breakfast and lunch prepared by Minnie were amazing. I was in the pink room which was very comfortable and spacious. Stayed an extra night!

Johnson und sein Team sind echte Schätze. Man fühlt sich von Anfang an willkommen. Fantastisches Frühstück, keralitische Küche und man erfährt viel über Kerala und das Leben ind Indien. PlUS: ich hatte einen medizinischen Notfall und es wurde sich sehr viel Zeit genommen mich zu unterstützen ind zu übersetzen.

Get to Appelly, Get to Johnson's homestay- only 5 minutes by auto from railway station, Leave the rest to Johnson, He took care of everything we needed, from advice on beaches, temples, and the excellent ayurvedic spa near to his home to an overnight houseboat cruise on the backwaters.

We actually booked another room but owner allowed us to upgrade for a little extra. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Nice ambience.

Nice place to stay in. The owner is very welcoming. The rooms were clean and tidy. The location is also good, near to beach and railway station.

We are most concerned about cleanliness, so as soon as we entered, we checked the room, bed, mattress, and pillows and found everything clean and fresh. There was a little cleaning to be done in the bathroom. We told Johnson and he immediately asked his staff and they completed the work. Johnson also arranged a very nice backwater tour for us and advised us what all to do in Alleppey. He is very knowledgeable. The grounds need a little more gardening but overall we will give this hotel full score, mainly because of Johnson who is a gentleman.

There is scope for small improvements in many areas. They take a lot of time to prepare food. This is not acceptable.

I selected this property because of previous reviews. Glad to comment that I was not disappointed. I came with my daughter and it was a safe hotel, which was most important. Lots of other guests also. Yhry have a cute son, Aaryan.

No board in front and as soon as I made booking, they called and asked for advance.

We stayed there just for a night. The closeness of this facility to the beach and the alleppey mai. Town was a huge plus. The breakfast was filling. Will return for a longer stay.

Safe quiet area and helpful hosts. We booked non ac room for 2 people. We are actualy 4, but the staff called owner who adjusted room to ac because it was very hot in allepy and comfortable for 4 people. We took their lovelu houseboat and it was a beautifil cruise. Too much food, and just like at the hotel, nice staff. We came because of good reviews for this property and it was right decision. Aldo, i like way they reply yo reviews :)
