House exactly as listed, super clean,very comfortable, The owner, Alise, is very responsive. She has equipped her home with every amenitie. Beautifully furnished throughout. Pool is a treat. One car garage with tiled floor!! Space on driveway for one more car. Easy walk to beach. Four minute drive to St.Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church. In short, five stars all the way. Property was as pictured: roomy, clean; beds very comfortable; bathroom shower great. We’ve previously rented homes with private pools in Longboat but the pool at this house was the best by far. We had warmer than usual weather while we were there so the solar heating really made the pool enjoyable every day. There were plenty of dishes; glassware and various utensils, including a zester and chopsticks. The house is well equipped with beach chairs, umbrella, pool floats and a beach cart. While we didn’t use them, there also were bikes and some fishing gear as well. The garage was clean and organized. We had no problem parking 2 cars (a van and a SUV) in the driveway. Alise was easy to communicate with and responded quickly to any questions I had. She checked in with us halfway thru our stay just to make sure all was good. On several days, a blue heron visited us at the dock and by the pool and hung out with us for quite a while. The location of the house was perfect and within walking distance to Harry’s Deli and restaurant; Lazy Lobster; Joan Durante Park and our favorite pizza place, Solorzanos. We definitely would consider renting here again in the future.

wonderful location
We stayed in Alise's home for a full month and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. House is located on a lovely, quiet street.The kitchen was well-stocked with pots and pans, serving dishes, wine glasses, etc... so we cooked in most of the time due to the scheduled of our 9 month and 3 year old grandchildren. The house was spacious, with a large garage, a beach wagon (definitely came in handy), loads of beach toys and even fishing rods and a tackle box. My son and I caught several fish from the dock (backyard) on the canal. It was so very pleasant sitting on the dock in the early evening since there was always a pleasant breeze. There were plenty of bath towels, sheets and beach towels on hand. The pool was solar heated so it took a little time to warm up due to a cold spell. When it was warm enough to swim in it was a "gift" to have! The best part of the visit was the close location to the beach; an easy walk across one narrow road. If you do wish to eat out there is a wonderful selection of restaurants close to Alise's home. Alise was always available whenever we had a question. Overall, no complaints about the house or the location.

Nice canal home with short beach access
This is a nice home on a canal with a short walk to the beach. Unfortunately while we were there we had Red Tide in the area, but by having our boat right outside our door, we were able to hop right in and find clear water for swimming in the ICW. This was our second time at this same home as it checked all the right boxes for us (canal, beach, private pool). It is well equipped with kitchen supplies and beach supplies. The owner is great at communicating.

Good spot for boating, beach, shopping, and restaurants
We had a comfortable one-week stay at this property. My husband enjoyed having his fishing boat right outside the back door, and I enjoyed the pool and the proximity to shopping and restaurants. We tend to travel with the items we need, but this owner has a thoughtful number of beach amenities available for use.

Longboat - 600 Jungle Queen Way
The house was fine and well equipped, with exception to laundry detergent, to get all towels laundries as asked, and trash bags. The street is very narrow and drive way is barely adequate for a truck. It was difficult to pull in and out of the driveway. Getting the trailer parked next to the house was extremely difficult.

Great Family Vacation!
We spent a week at this well-appointed house and didn't want to leave. The house is situated on a quiet street, but in walking distance to a beautiful private beach. You just need to cross the Gulf of Mexico Drive and walk down a short path. It's a quiet beach with spectacular sunsets. They provide all beach necessities and a cart to get everything down there. There are also some chairs on the beach in addition to the beach chairs they provide. All in great shape.
The house is spotless, it consists of three bedrooms and two well sized bathrooms (one ensuite). I use VRBO a lot, this was the most organized rental that I have stayed in. The beds are comfortable, there is plenty of drawers, closet space and though there is central air, there were fans in every bedroom. Two bedrooms have sliders out to the cute pool area. There is ample lighting outside, as well as seating by the pool. We loved returning from the beach and hanging by the pool until dinner. The house is situated on the canal and our adult kids were obsessed with fishing in the canal (poles, tackle in garage). It became a daily ritual along with coffee/ cocktail out at the canal. *Bring bug spray for no-see-ums! Speaking of the garage, there is a washer and dryer, and everything else one might want on vacation, including 4 bikes. The kitchen literally had everything to cook and entertain- including champagne glasses for a crowd! We were able to host my in-laws from Sarasota and toast my daughter's graduation. Plenty of space! The living area is cozy and comfy and had a big screen tv. There is a small step down to dining area, but marked with yellow for safety. There was ample linens, towels, beach towels, dish towels.
On to the yard- well manicured and fun plantings. Grill worked, but a bit worn. The neighbors were friendly and we enjoyed walks in the opposite direction to the bay. One HUGE perk is that Harry's market, deli and restaurant are in walking distance, as is the Lazy Lobster and the Blue Dolphin, so if inclined to eat out- you don't even have to drive. Publix is 10 min down the road. The house is central to visiting AMI and Lido Key (St Armand Circle). The house had a binder of info and menus.
Lastly, the owner was so easy to communicate with and the process of booking and leaving was effortless! The keyless entry was also so convenient.
I hope to return again and have already recommended the house to friends and family.

Spring Break Vacation
My family and I stayed at this home in April 2021 and loved it! The location is perfect for walking to the beach and the pool was a nice change from the sand. The garage was neat and organized with everything needed for a day at the beach. It was perfect! We loved the quiet, peaceful neighborhood and the proximity on the Island to everything we love! Our daughters 3 and 8years old, loved the landscaping and having a bit of grass on the side to play in. They could also easily walk to the beach with us. We had such a fantastic week. Great location for boaters and beach lovers!
We had a great overall experience at this property. The home sits directly on a canal with a very convenient boat dock just out the back door. Plus it is only a few hundred yards to the beach, so it really is the best of both worlds. The kitchen is small, but well equipped. Lots of beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, and toys. Only issue was we could've used more TP and dishwashing detergent, so suggest you bring your own. But overall, a really great option to stay on Long Boat Key!

Great Vacation cut short by Covid 19
This is a very cute beach house on beautiful Longboat Key.
The amenities in the home were great...making it easy to abide by the social distancing requirements put in place during our stay.
Thankfully the weather was warm so the pool heated up sufficiently to be able to swim and enjoy our own private pool - no need to social distance!
Alise was extremely responsive to our inquiries. She has a great relationship with the neighbors who also helped us out.
Loved our shortened time there...hope to be able to visit again soon.

Beach getaway
The beach is very close as advertised and not crowded at all. We never had anyone within 50 yards of us on the beach and we went to the ocean every day. Lots of good restaurants close by. The house was clean and comfortable. This one is a definite winner.

Fantastic location, approximately 1 block from the beach. House was clean, comfortable beds, kitchen fully stocked (pots, pans, dishes, even an ice cream scoop). . Garage had beach cart, canopy, chairs, pool toys, everything you could possibly need. My husband loved the Weber grill . We all enjoyed the pool . Husband and son caught a few fish in the canal . Loved this place!
We loved our stay, can’t wait to come back! The pool was great we spent a lot of time there! The kids fished off the canal and it was full of tiny fish! The neighbors were welcoming and a lot of them had pets they walked every night by the house! I think the best part was being able to walk down to the private beach and watch the sunset while taking a late night swim in the ocean! We definitely will be back, can’t say enough good things about this place!!

House Great but Longboat Key was not welcoming
First let me say we've been using VRBO for the past 5 years and rely on the descriptions and reviews to make our choices for our family vacation. Our kids are 14 & 15 and we have one dog that travels with us. The house was great - Furnished well, comfortable beds, and kitchen small but adequate, and the garage was a treasure trove of beach goodies with everything we needed. Here's why we gave this listing a "3".
1. House is listed as "dog friendly", but the beaches are zoned "no dogs". There isn't a sign on the beach access door and there was no way we would have known this. The listing should have stated this. We were not so nicely told by the locals about this when we brought our dog down there. Our neighbors basically yelled at us to keep our dog in the yard, which he clearly was. I am a very good dog owner and clean up after him. He never left the yard except on the leash. We felt out of place almost immediately.
2. There is another ordinance on Longboat Key that says all homes must be rented for a monthly rental only. VRBO says 7-30 days. Again, we were also told by locals that this was an issue since we were only here for a week...again, felt out of place almost immediately.
3. The listing says that we can fish off the back docks and have access to the bay from our home. This statement is true, and we did kayak out to the bay twice (Daily was the plan) but most of the days the stench from the canal was so horrible it made it impossible to enjoy the pool due to the smell or go out back to enjoy the evening by fishing or setting on the dock. So getting into the kayaks to fish wasn't really that inviting due to the smell. The fish population is decimated there (red tide was not active but has hurt the wildlife severely) and therefore, there we NO fish in the canal. Only stench and brown sludge.
In general, if you want to go somewhere to stay in the house and not venture out then stay here. House is great! But if you're looking for a welcoming Florida vacation with beach fun and fishing with a welcoming atmosphere - Longboat Key is NOT your place. Again, the house is nice, but the environment is not for us. Alice was fabulous and always answered all our concerns and questions quickly. We'll look elsewhere next time.

Relaxing
Lovely home that had everything we needed for our stay. We enjoyed hanging out by the pool and on the dock when we weren't at the beautiful beach which is just a short walk away. We also enjoyed strolling through the park down the block. Lots of great restaurants and shops. Plenty to do! Nice fishing piers just minutes away where we spotted dolphins and manatees. Long Boat Key is beautiful. Highly recommend. We hope to be back before too long!

The house was perfect for us
This house is located in a great spot. It has plenty of room and is well-appointed. Everything we needed to enjoy the beach, pool and island was there. Clearly, the owners know their guests. And any house issues were addressed immediately.
We loved being on the canal and all the wildlife coming by. The beach is spectacular. We spent a month, had family visit, and got to know the island. We would do it again in a heartbeat.

I wish I would’ve known the pool wasn’t heated prior
My husband and I have been in Florida vacationing for a few years now and have stayed at many many places. This one by far felt the least welcoming. There were signs hanging everywhere with instructions. I don’t mean one or two, there were probably 3-4 in each room. We felt so uncomfortable that we didn’t even sit down the first three days scared we may not be allowed. I would like to add, the place may be great for everyone else but my husband and I have severe anxiety and PTSD and the notes were just way way too much for us. The house was as pictured on VRBO. Owner was kind and responds back quickly.

Wonderful Christmas Family Vacation
My family & I had a wonderful stay over Christmas Vacation at Jungle Queen Way. The home is exactly as depicted in the pictures & it was perfect for our family.
We brought our own kayaks & fished daily out in the bay. The dock with the ladder to the water worked out great to keep our kayaks tied to the dock while not in use. The canal was crystal clear & clean.
We traveled w/our 2 college aged children along with our daughter's finance. Each of us had our own bedrooms & the kids shared a bath. All beds were very comfortable & the bathroom fixtures worked well too.
We really enjoyed the short walk to the beautiful beach. We spent a great deal of time on the beach, including sunset every night. We also appreciated the convenient location of Harry's, the local quick market & separate restaurant & deli.
We really can't say enough good things about our trip & stay at Jungle Queen. I would highly recommend the home. Plus, the owner, Alise, was quick to respond to any questions that we had & was easy to work with as well.

Great Location, Super clean!
Home is just a quick walk to the most beautiful beach - White sand, clear water. We found tons of sand dollars and watched a herd of manatees swim by. We caught lots of fish off of the dock in the back yard. The pool was perfect, it was clean and warm. The house was well appointed with everything we needed. This is a very nice house in an almost perfect location; a couple of hundred yards to a very private beach and just a few minutes to the attractions of Sarasota. Serene Getaway
A perfect getaway house that is serene and on a quiet street. The kitchen is replete with all necessary supplies for cooking. We enjoyed watching the fish jump in the canal and the birds catching their morning breakfast. Beach views were absolutely stunning from day to day as you never know what the weather is brewing and it can change quickly. There were even a few fabulous rainbows to add to the splendor. All the beach accessories, bikes, and games came in handy as well. This house lacks nothing but vacationers needing rest and relaxation!

We had a very nice time at the Jungle Queen house. We rented a boat and docked behind the home which was great for early morning departures. The entire family had a great time fishing from the dock and just sitting on the canal. Our best times were enjoyed around the fabulous dining table. What a great comfortable space for our family of 6 to sit around eating steaks grilled on the gas grill and fish caught that day on our boat. We all agreed...we loved that table and the dining space. The walk down to the beach was easy and short and the private beach access was wonderful. The kitchen had everything we needed. Everything was clean and well maintained. The owner was easy to work with especially considering she allowed us to squeeze in last minute! Thank you for that and thank you for sharing your home with us!

Five of us stayed over the Thanksgiving holiday this year and enjoyed it very much. The house is very comfortable without being "fussy" -- perfect for a beach vacation. A vacation rental owner myself, I was impressed with how well everything was laid out and marked. Detailed instructions made everything easy to find and navigate. The house is in a great location in the center of the island, so you're close to everything. Would definitely rent again next time we're in LBK.

This was our second time to stay at this property and we found it every bit as inviting and restful as the first time. In fact, we have already booked a 2-week stay for 2014. It is not easy to find a property that will accommodate pets, but this location is perfect for our small dog. The property is always clean, and you would never know that pets have been in the home. We love this property, and the owners are wonderful! See my previous review for additional details about the property and nearby activities.
