Historical building, nice ambience, professional staff, exceptional breakfast. Room was a good size and everything was very clean. Lovely view in the evenings for the front of the parador. Good value for money.

The staff were great and the food was good, especially the breakfast
You have to pay for the drinking water in your room, very mean, boo to the accountants.

Excellent breakfast!
We couldn't use the gym as we were told it's was fully booked at all times during our stay despite we were less than 20 guests at the hotel...

Having read some reviews praising the Junior Suite we spent a little extra to upgrade; and were glad we did. The room was the size of a small flat and very comfortable. We also took the Half Board option which was well worth it. There was a good choice for the breakfast buffet and the evening meal was of a high standard. All the staff we came across were excellent; especially the team in the restaurant for the evening meal who indulged our cod Spanish with a fun approach which we really appreciated. All in all a good stay in a historic monument.
Having said how great the Junior Suite was there was one thing that wasn't quite right; the bathroom door wouldn't fully shut - not a huge issue and one we didn't feel worthwhile reporting; just a bit annoying in what is presumably one of their best rooms. Also it was strange that out of the 20 odd channels on the TV not one was in English or any language other than Spanish.

the location, setting and property itself are stunning and there is a nice selection of local wines.
the service was not in line with the level of hotel. we like a cup of tea first thing and initially we were told it was impossible to achieve outside breakfast. eventually a very helpful receptionist found us kettles and mugs(we had our own milk and tea). in addition the attitude of the maitre d’ in the dining room was terrible: she was more interested in her fellow staff than customers and we were not told that the vintage of the wine we had ordered deliberately wasn’t available (it jumped 2 years). one dish was described as veal on the menu and was served by the waiter as beef!

The ambience
The rooms were smaller than other rooms we had in the past. A bit pricey

Everything was the excellent except the hallway outside our room was very must and smelled like urine. Our rooms were on the -2 floor and the hallway long throw rug was disgusting and smelled very musty and gross. GET RID OF THE RUG ASAP!
Food was excellent!

The interior of the cloisters is beautiful although you are no longer allowed access to the courtyard
The corridors are beautiful even though the plants are half dead
The breakfast is really good but it does cost 15 euros
We were looking forward to using the pool but it had been emptied. Their were sunbeds near the pool but no shade so it was too hot to sit and there were no other outside sitting area
The evening meal was a real disappointment. The restaurant 200m down the road serves much better food at similar prices and have professional attentive waiters
Overall it felt like the parador knew that it would attract visitors so did not have to try to make it special

We rented a junior suite, which was very spacious and comfortable. The bar and restaurant were very good as well. The staff was friendly. The setting of the Parador is very striking.

This is one of the best Paradores we have been in !
And we have been in about 90% of all of them.

I liked everything about the Parador. From start to finish, the experience was one of effortless grandeur, fabulous and attentive staff and made me the most relaxed I’ve felt in months. My room - a junior suite, was tastefully decorated with a wonderfully comfy, big bed - and, the holiest of holies- a bath! I opted for half board and enjoyed a beautifully thought out dinner of fantastically balanced flavours and textures as well
as a couple of glasses of excellent mencia- before falling into bed and sleeping so soundly, nothing bar the apocalypse could have woken me. If only I could have had another night!
I loved everything about the parador and am certainly coming back with my family next time
