The rooms at the Borgo Santa Barbara are very clean, quiet and cool. The property grounds are very well kept and offer a perfect place to come and relax. The location of the hotel is great with Tropea and the ocean just a short drive away, and on-site parking. The rooms have very comfortable beds, pillows and offered both a good wifi connection and small fridge. Water pressure and temperature in the showers is perfect. The Locanda restaurant on site, the piece de resistance, was outstanding for the breakfast and evening meal. The nightly menu offers a large variety of fresh dishes made with excellent ingredients at a fair price. The staff are very professional and caring about their work and the guest experience, they took the time to explain the dishes and to to recommend specific plates and side dishes, providing background information on the region's produce and recipies; such as their famous Calabria onions. The wine selection was very good and the patio setting under the stars was quite romantic. Desserts are a must share. I recommend you try them all. Breakfast every day started with a freshly brewed coffee or tea with a quaint buffet style setting including croissants, fresh bread, cold cuts, yogurt, fresh fruit, and muesli cereals. I strongly recommend the boat tour with the Marlove boating company associated with the hotel. The skipper service is excellent and the RHIBs boats are very new and comfortable. Bring your snorkelling gear, the fish are waiting for you to share some bread crumbs.

Can't say there were any aspects of our stay we did not like.

Low key but generally comfortable. Lovely family and excellent overall team. Clean and decent sized rooms. The team were always helpful and keen to assist. Restaurant always enjoyable at dinner time.

Fantastic place to stay. Nice, neat rooms. Martina, Fabio and their staff do everything they can to make it as comfortable as possible for you. La Locanda, the restaurant at the hotel is just beautiful. Very tasty cuisine. We took the half board option and were surprised every evening with delicious authentic Italian dishes. Luxury rooms are quite close to the train tracks. This can be a problem for people who like to sleep with the window open. However, the train does not run very frequently and almost only during the day. Junior Suite & Suite are located in the main building and we were not bothered by the train there. As everywhere in southern Italy, the WIFI is rather slow compared to what is common in Belgium, for example. Parking can sometimes be difficult if you arrive after 7pm, because the restaurant is also open and they use the same parking spaces.

Very organised, focused on details, warm welcome. The food in the restaurant was really nice and good value for money.
