Location and incredible gardens

It was very tired and food was disappointing. Missing a trick not offering better quality food and afternoon tea as gardens are incredible the good didn’t reflect the same standard.

We very much liked the Location and the friendly, helpful Staff are the hotel's only saving grace.

The Rooms and Furniture are terrible cheap old/modern tat that is worn and dirty to the point of ingrained dirt which is unable to be cleaned. The Decor is not just dated and faded, it's more than a bit worn, scratched and flaking. The Bar is Awful!

Stayed here before, quiet, spotless, lovely staff, hence came back :)

Grounds & Location

Ancient heating system. Constant drilling sound from both floors vibrating throughout, couldn’t sleep. Gutters leaking as full of plants, debris. Requires refurbishing and decorating. Staff not engaging. Poor TV choice. Pool and facilities dirty and not maintained. Set meal although tasty, not value for money. Breakfast choice and quantity of plated cooked breakfast poor. Will not be return/recommend.

Location. Gardens, large rooms, helpful happy staff .

We arrived and nobody was at reception. We waited good 15 min while the staff walked past us. They saw us but didnt bother to tend to us. The lady checking us in had a pretty horrible attitude as if she didn't care either and as if we were a nuissance to her. We got to the room and it wasnt the one we booked. It was run down and could easily be from the 20s. We went down to ask for the room we booked. She said the pictures on booking.com are just an idea of what one might get not the actual room. She also said it was an upgrade to the room we were meant to get. I asked to get the room we had booked months ago and she said it was taken as we only stay one night. So we asked for our money back and left. The staff was not friendly at all and said that guests make this mistake all the time when really what they do is fraud - selling something under fals pretences forcing people in a situation that potentially forces their hands. We were meant to have a romantuc couples retreat. Drove all day, had no charge in our phones left when we arrived and then in the dark at 8 pm had to try to source another room that was overpriced due to the spontaneous nature of our situation. DO NOT BOOK!!!!

Breakfast was full English and continental if you wanted it and was nice.

The pool was cold as they were waiting to have it fixed but it was fine

Very good.

Some areas of the hotel were looking tired but it looked like modernisation was in progress.
