Sunset Apartments are a great choice if you want a base in Rethymno for spending time on the beach there as well as exploring the island of Crete. We got an excellent price for the basement apartment which was very cool, even in the soaring Greek heat! The beach is meters away, there's a limited amount of free parking (you can find more free parking places in the area too if needed) and there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants around. The apartment is well equipped and comfortable.

The host Manolis is very kind and available at all times, he welcomed us with a bottle of wine and fruit. The apartment is identical to the pictures and very functional, it is located in a quiet environment and only 100 meters away from the beach. Nearby there are supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, pharmacies and travel agencies. I recommend it to anyone who wants a pleasant vacation in Rethymno.

The fact that whenever you needed something the owner quickly responded.

We were sent photos of the apartment before we arrived and it looked ok, even the photo of the balcony but when we actually got there we realized that the apartment and balcony was below street level, which meant that cars would park virtually on top/next to the balcony, not only was it terribly noisy from 7 am onwards but a awful sight. The water heating system had a timer that you had to activate every time you wanted to shower ( leaving you with only 20-30 minutes time for everyone to do so), the owner changed the space of time for us but you should always have hot water available. The air conditioning was right on top of the bed which obviously could not be used at night due to the position so the room was stifling. Right next to the bed was the entrance door ( no problem) and on top of that was a big green exit light that switched on when lights were off, meaning that at night the room was lit with a green light…this was covered up with a towel the next day by the owner. Such emergency exit lights are placed in lobbies and not in rooms for that there are smaller ones available. We should not need to ask for extra towels as these should be supplied along with the apartment and a change of these once every 4 days was too long to wait for.

Everything was great! Location is jus 100 meters from the beach, which is clean and not crowded. There are tavernas and shops nearby and it’s around 20 min walk to the center. Manolis was very helpful and hospitable.

Very nice accommodation steps from the beach. Nice area with a lot of restaurants. Everything was perfect. I especially liked that we had a washing machine.

Property was clean, host welcomed us and was at our disposal all the time, yet not assertive. It is very close to the beach and in excellent condition.

During the night due to busy neighbourhood I can get noisy, but nothing unbearable. Kitchen was missing some utensils like bottle opener and cutting board.

The apartment with a fully equipped kitchen & bathroom was located in a small and calm street, very close to the beach! Everything needed was nearby (shops, restaurants, pharmacies, bakeries). 2 min walking to a bus stop. 5 min walking to a taxi station. ~30 min walking to the city center, while enjoying an amazing view! The host was very kind and helpful! We were even allowed to delay our checkout for 3 hours :)

One out of two apartments that we rented had two connected single beds, instead of a double one, which was a bit uncomfortable. Also one hairdryer was missing.
