The host was very friendly and made the effort to welcome us personally and offer helpful and knowledgeable advice about Bruges. There were 5 of us in the house (ages 14-67 years) and we all enjoyed its traditional Bruges features and relaxed comfort. Using a door code was excellent as we could all come and go as we pleased and not worry about keys. The location was perfect, quiet yet central and handily next door to a bakers and cheese shop - we parked outside and didn't move the car until we left 4 nights later. Bruges itself exceeded our expectations and we walked everywhere within the historic centre and went to the Bourgogne de Flanders Brewery, Groninger Museum, up the Belfry and Basilica of the Holy Blood etc. Apart from the 'fairytale' centre of the Markt and Burg, we especially enjoyed the distinctive characteristics of wandering around the Minnewater, Sint Anna and Spiegelrei areas. Flemish stew at t' Huidvettershuis overlooking the lit Rozenhoedkaai was the perfect end to the holiday.

It wasn't a problem at all for us but the second set of stairs was steep as other guests have mentioned. There was one large double on the first floor, another on the second and a smaller double room, so if your group comprised people with mobility problems or young children, you would need to think about the stairs.

Brilliant location, nice rooms and cosy courtyard

Fairly steep stairs up to the 2 top rooms
