Acerca de este alojamiento vacacional
Cliff-perched: stunning ocean views, private hiking trails, complete seclusion
Roque Bluffs: parque estatal y playa (natación, kayak, picnics y caminatas)

A stunning, peaceful space, creatively designed. We stayed two nights and one day. The house had everything we needed. Gorgeous and cozy space inside. Unbeatable views. The outside is just spectacular. We hiked the trails on the property and down to the beach. Indescribable beauty. The owner provided a wealth of information for places to go outside of the property. We visited a breakfast place on the way out. The restaurant is on a farm, and was outstanding. Loved going here, and will return. Thank you so much for an outstanding stay.

Sublime. This place is like no other. Every little thing is special. The views, the hikes, the sky, the air, the water, the birds, the trees, the rock.... Every evening, all we wanted to do was sit on that back deck and simply soak it in. The house? Perfect. Clean...no, immaculate, airy, comfy, warm (even when it was sooo cold outside!)....just perfect. What a nice feeling it was knowing we were returning to that house on that road on that cliff at the end of every day. Would go back in a heartbeat!

We LOVED this home, everything about it was so comfortable. We stayed here celebrating our 30th. anniversary and enjoyed every minute. The views are breathtaking, and the grounds are just amazing with endless nature and beauty. Can't wait to stay again.

We still cannot get over our time at the Prowhouse. So many core memories were made. We stayed in early June and were blown away by the coziness, the cleanliness, THE VIEWS. The decor was fabulous, beds extra comfy and the trails on property were better marked than any we've traversed in other locations. All the attention to detail here!
Our week was beautifully rainy, but that did absolutely nothing to detract from our stay. In fact, it seemed to highlight the moss, the rocky beaches, the lushness that is this corner of Maine. Mornings were spent exploring and hiking nearby beaches and trails (all to ourselves!), with afternoons lounging and taking in the seaside. We loved the forced "manual" time during these afternoons...listening to a fabulous vinyl collection, playing rounds of battleship, savoring freshly baked blueberry pie and marking the incredible tides on the cliffs across the bay. We are, admittedly, a family that doesn't always idle well, but the comfort that Rich and his family have created in this special place made it easy for us to relax and enjoy. We can't thank them enough for sharing it with us!

If you want a stunning view, complete privacy, and the quintessential Maine experience, this home has it all. Perched on a cliff, with hiking trails surrounding the property this home gives you the “Downeast Maine” vibe. However, the interior of the home has been carefully curated with mid century meets nautical decor and you feel like you have stepped directly into the pages of Architectural Digest. The host was excellent with communication, providing clear directions and a plethora of information regarding activities, restaurants, shops, and instructions. You couldn’t ask for a better house, host, or experience. Wow!!!

If you are a sailor, you will understand that Prowhouse is the sweet spot. We spent two weeks celebrating our 30th anniversary, and joined by sailing friends for several days to celebrate their 14th anniversary.
Prowhouse taps into all your senses. You feel full, and spirits heightened. As you walk the trails (which must of been a task to create), you feel a sense of quiet surrounding you besides natural sounds. A rarity these days.
We found ourselves simply drinking it all from inside the house,
the deck, the hammock, Phil's Rest, and the beach at low tide. We fell in love, and treated the house as if it were our own. Never ever have we been so content in one place besides our own home.
We read Phil Rose's poetry and log books to add to the history, and depth to our stay. The furnishing are styled with care, each piece hand selected. The master bedroom is beyond dreamy. It is evident how special this home and property are to Rich and Julie which extends to the guests.
We enjoyed Libby Island Lighthouse at nightfall, the display of nightly stars, the harvest full moon, the 5:00am pink skies prior to sunrise, the moss colored trails, the special decks for viewing,
the sounds of the ocean, and the lobster boats making their rounds.
We listennd to 75% of the record collection Rich and Julie provided for our enjoyment. A wonderful step back in time.
Rich stayed in touch with us before and during our stay making suggestions of local events currently going on. Julie and Rich have set the bar to the highest as hosts. Each guest will feel like you have a personal friend making suggestions ensuring your time at Prowhouse and Downeast is magical.
Prowhouse will always be indelible in our minds...

My husband and I had been dreaming of staying at this property for the past few years. I had looked at the pictures over and over, and yet I was still awestruck when we arrived. The beauty and the serenity of this place cannot be shown through pictures or words, only experienced. Rich was a great host, he provided lots of information ahead of time which helped us plan our activities, and he was only a text away if we had any questions during our stay. The trails that Rich has created on the property are just wonderful. The views from the living room, bedroom, and deck are incredible. And Rich and Julie have supplied the house with a wonderful collection of interesting games, puzzles, and books for rainy, foggy days. You will be torn between wanting to go out and explore the surrounding areas and just staying at the Prowhouse enjoying everything it has to offer. My husband and I absolutely loved the week we spent there celebrating our 2nd anniversary. Can't say enough good things about it. Probably the best vacation either of us has experienced so far and we can't wait to go back someday!

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Prowhouse. We’ve stayed at many VRBO properties, and this one really stands out. The house and property are exceptional - amazing views over Howard’s Cove with many places to sit to take in the view, several hiking trails on the property, and a beautifully decorated and well equipped home. Before arrival, Rich sent us lots of information about local things to do and places to eat/shop, which really helped us plan our time. I’d definitely recommend a hike along the Cutler Coastal Trail. Mostly though, we enjoyed just relaxing and having family time in complete seclusion in a glorious setting high on the cliff overlooking the water. Many happy family memories were made at Prowhouse and we can’t wait to return.

Beautiful, well appointed and clean home with astonishing views of the ocean.
A multitude of hiking opportunities on and near the property.
Owners were the best we have experienced through this service. Great communication and super thoughtful and caring.

Absolutely incredible
The only bad thing I can say about our week and a half stay at the Prowhouse is that it was too short. The house is incredibly well appointed; beds were comfy, every kitchen appliance you could want, very clean, and the best part: the view. You could spend weeks just exploring the property around the house. Even in the off season we found plenty of places to eat out when we wanted with the added bonus of having most places to ourselves. Rich and Julie have created a truly spectacular retreat. We can’t wait for our next stay!

Maine getaway
The property is more beautiful than I could have imagined - overlooking the ocean with breathtaking views. Very quiet, very peaceful. The hikes on the property (about one mile worth) are steep but incredibly beautiful and very well cared-for. The house is simple but clean and everything worked well. Zero problems, zero complaints.

Stellar retreat in the north woods
Each day, my wife and I watched the moon- and sun-rise from our bedroom 150’ over the sea, then hiked for hours on the many secluded acres. We had 100 yards of private beach to stroll and observe wild life on. We’re frequent travelers and this was our best VRBO experience ever.

The Prowhouse is perfect!
Beautiful home, beautiful and tasteful decor and the ultimate views out of every window. The property is incredible with wooded and moss covered hiking trails, beaches, cliffs and overlooks. The trails were challenging and we saw deer, Eagles and seals. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped and Rich is an amazing and thoughtful host with an abundance of suggestions for the area. (be aware - the bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is on the first floor). My wife and I didn’t want to leave and cannot wait to come back!

UNIQUE PLACE TO STAY IN MARISPORT, ME
A fantastic and highly unique place to stay, with every last detail thought through by the owner. Includes a breathtaking view of the ocean, a number of terrific and challenging hikes on the 12 acre property with several surprises along the way, graciously created by the owners, some with deck overviews and comfortable chairs. You must read the story behind the creation of this place. Includes a washer/dryer just off the two bedrooms, a hammock, and countless other perks. We loved it here, not wanting of anything!! Thanks to the owners for being such wonderful people!!! What a treasure!!

Wow wow wowwwwww
We looked forward to our week at the Prowhouse for a year and were not disappointed!! Rich and Julie proactively sent us extensive information about the house and the surrounding area to help us make the most of our entire experience. The home was clean, cozy and well stocked with everything we could need. The VIEW…. Amazing Amazing Amazing….. Rich and Julie were always available for any questions or contact information for local culinary adventures… Top notch in every way. The weather was a mixed bag but gave us the opportunity to see all the faces of the view.. Can’t wait to go back next summer!!!

Wow! What a Location
Wow, this is possibly the best location to get away. You are 20 or so minutes from town and 10 minutes from fresh lobster at Captain Matt's. The property has several trails that lead to various parts of the property. I preferred walking out to the rocks just above the beach. Bring a book and enjoy one of the many decks overlooking the ocean. The only downside is that the sun rises at about 4:30am each day, but on the plus side the sunrise is purely spectacular from the bedroom windows.

Amazing week away!
We had an incredible stay at the Prow House! The property was beautiful, the house clean, the views inspiring. Machias is a very sleepy town, but we spent our days waking up to the sunrise, hiking on nearby coastal trails, and enjoying fresh seafood. Rich was a great host and provided any/all information you may need to make the perfect getaway.

Peace on Earth!
Even before we arrived at the Prow House, we felt fully prepared with property information, driving directions, hiking trails, etc., all provided in advance by our wonderful host, Rich. When you arrive at the house, you are amazed...when you enter the house, it takes your breath away. We spent 7 days exploring the property trails, relaxing at one of the several lookouts, hiking in nearby Cutler and Quoddy Head, and cooking. Everything you need in the kitchen is there and there is a Weber gas grill. Most comfortable bed, watching the sun rise. Loved the record player, great selection of albums. There is also WiFi if you want to stream music to your bluetooth speaker. Watched a few movies on DVD player. All the comforts of home and then some. Look forward to returning. Thank you Rich & Julie!

Magical Property
We loved this property!! The view when you first enter the house is truly jaw-dropping. We mostly hung out at the house for the week and enjoyed the quiet and surrounding beauty the Prow House has to offer. Hiking down to the beach at low tide and hanging out for a few hours watching the tide come in was a particularly fun afternoon. The kitchen was very handy and well equipped as we ate almost all of our meals in. At night there are so many stars visible it's hard to even find constellations. At the end of the week we had a hard time leaving. Thank you Rich and Julie!

Spectacular views
This cottage was the frame for a great quiet vacation in rural Downeast Maine. The views from the house and deck over the ocean and the islands were magnificent. We loved watching the changes in the light and the fog coming and go. The home was beautifully designed, equipped, and thoughtful. Picking up the lobsters from the local harbor was our favorite, and there is a good selection of shops and restaurants in driving distance. The house has onsite trails and different viewpoints and seating areas, and even low tide beach access. This is the perfect couple or small family retreat.

Is it really as amazing as the pictures make it look like?
The straight forward answer is YES !! We had to wait for an entire year to get to enjoy this incredible cosey, warm, and just stunning Cottage on this majestic spot high above the sea nestled in the woods, with the outcome that it was so worthwhile the wait!! As you enter the cottage you feel right at home and want to just sit in the gemuetliche (cosey) sofa overlooking the bay while the rest of the visitors check out the endless supply of kitchen tools, utensils, etc. to cook, bake all the things you had on your wish
list since Christmas of 2000....
It was no surprise for us to understand why this charming house is featured in more than one magazine!
We could have stayed easily the entire week in the cottage to explore the history of the area, the cottage itself, or any topic we could be interested in, as there is literature, books, magazine, music for anyone's interest, and taste.
And if you are really lucky, you might even get to meet the owners and learn first hand about all the things you missed or didn't discover...! It was certainly the icing on the cake getting to enjoy a wonderful couple, matching the warmth and charming style of this lovely Cottage!
All we can wish for is to be allowed to come back!
Best wishes

Magical getaway
We were blown away by our wonderful stay. The view is insane and makes you never want to leave...but there is plenty to do in the area if/when you do. The property itself was the best we have ever been lucky enough to stay at and will be hard to beat. We would return in a heartbeat.
The owners are great. Rich is super responsive and enjoyable to communicate with. I’ve never seen such an organized compilation of helpful information provided to the guests. You’ll understand when you see the notebooks! The data provided ahead of time via email was useful and appreciated too.
Rich and Julie’s design prowess is evident in all of the thoughtful touches around the home but the private trails and balconies overlooking the mighty ocean (and extreme tides!) really make it next-level. We are forever fans of the Prowhouse and genuinely hope to return again one day.

Fall Week of Breathtaking Serenity!!!
We loved the history of the house, the original vision, and the execution that went even beyond. We had a great fall week in the woods and on the water at the Prowhouse. We enjoyed the hiking trails on the property as well sitting and enjoying the view, especially the sunrises right from the master bed. Rich gave a ton of information on things to do and places eat from short to long trips from the house. We stayed mostly close to the house enjoying the peace, the stars at night, and just hanging out and cooking there. We did do some hikes nearby and visited West Quoddy Head lighthouse and the coastal hike there.

Rich and Julie have been wonderful communicating every aspect of our stay. From the booking to the amenities, to all the links provided for things to do! Next time we won’t feel the need to sightsee but can’t wait to just settle in for the week , bring groceries and just enjoy the beauty of the home and property. Thanks again Rich !

The Perfect vacation spot on the Maine Coast!
The Prowhouse was the perfect property to truly enjoy the beauty of the area in a private, incredibly beautiful spot in N Maine on the coast. The house located on a cliff overlooks a beautiful pbay which is serene and uniquely beautiful. The sunrises were stunning! Well marked trails on the 50 acre property were amazing along the rocky
Coast. There were many short trips to preserves, islands,Canada, and quaint coastal towns nearby. Wild blueberries were abundant which was a real treat, as well as,haddock, salmon and lobster of course! The Prowhouse has an incredible view and is well furnished for guests. Rich, the owner/ manager, is incredibly helpful in making sure guests are informed of all opportunities in the area to explore. He provides a wealth of information for his guests and is just a text away if you have any questions or concerns.
This is the perfect vacation spot to relax, enjoy nature and hike in the Downest away from the maddening crowd!

The perfect retreat
A spectacular properly, the uniquely built and beautifully furnished Prowhouse was the perfect retreat for our family. Rich is a wonderful host, who from the day we booked until the day we left, provided helpful information about the area to help us plan our trip. The photos do not do justice to the beauty of the house and setting. We woke each morning to the sound of the ocean. The trails are well marked and offer an excellent opportunity to explore and and see the cove from a different perspective. We were treated to bird-watching, from loons and ducks to numerous variety of warblers. The highlight, though, was an osprey who put on a fishing show in the evenings that we were able to see close-up from Phil's Rest on the trail. If you are seeking a getaway from the world you couldn't find a better place.
Don't miss Jasper Beach, which is fabulous and just up the road. Helen's in Machias has wonderful food and pie.
Thank you Rich and Julie!

Peaceful retreat!
We loved the Prowhouse. Everything was completely as advertised. Property was very clean, inviting, well stocked and had the most beautiful vistas through those gorgeous windows on both levels. We had a wide range of weather so we were fortunate to see the fog roll in so thick that you couldn’t even see the water to watching that clear up to a beautiful blue sky with sparkling cobalt waters. We enjoyed the hikes on the property and appreciate all of the efforts the owners put into creating them. Phil’s Rest was amazing. The Owner went above and beyond to help us with a unique situation (he knows what I am talking about) and it definitely showed his willingness to do anything for a guest! If you are looking for a lovely place to disconnect from this world you cannot beat Prowhouse!!! Go! You will not be disappointed!

Beautiful house with amazing views
My husband and I just got back from vacation, this was our best vacation yet. The house and views are so beautiful. The hosts (Rich & Julie) go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. They sent so much information about the area and for activities so you can plan your trip before you even leave. We did not leave the house too much because it was so relaxing and we just enjoyed the surrounding views and sitting on the deck. We really enjoyed the Yurts, the hike to get there was so peaceful. We also went to Lubec, Jasper Beach (which is right down the road) and Acadia. They were all great places to explore. There is definitely something for everyone to enjoy. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks again Rich & Julie for letting us enjoy your beautiful home and it was so nice to be able to meet you. I would post a couple pics but I don't think I can attach them to my review.

A dreamy Maine house in a heavenly spot!
My husband and I were so impressed of everything this home had to offer. Not only is the design and aesthetic of the home wonderful, but the location and surrounding land is remarkable. Machias offers exactly what we wanted for a Maine weekend away and we would love to visit again in the near future. Thank you, Rich!

The house has been restored with a great deal of love and attention to detail.
The location is quite dramatic and very private. And the deck space is perfect for yoga. I wish that I had my mat with me.
