This property went beyond my expectations! The house is a very generous space. The rooms are well stocked with towels, body wash, and shampoo. The host has thought of so many details that made our stay smooth and nothing less of spectacular. The only thing I would note is our arrival was rough. The AC was not on, and our first night was a rough start, we reap wild it quickly and the rest was cool and very, very enjoyable. I can’t say enough about the staff.. They were all very kind and accommodating. We can’t wait to get back soon!

My family and I visited in February. It was one of the best vacations we've ever taken. The house is absolutely beautiful and the pool is incredible. The location of the house was great. Close to many stores and restaurants. The host was very accommodating and greeted us within 24 hours to see if we had any questions or needed anything. The housekeepers were also very sweet and helpful. Couldn't imagine not having them there!!!
They made the most amazing salsa and guacamole!
We will definitely be returning one day!!!!

Thank you so much! Everything was amazing! The house was incredible and was perfect for our 5 couples! We really appreciate you having a high chair and play n pack for the baby. Akumal was easy to navigate and take advantage of excursions! Daveed’s chef service was the best! Delicious!!! The pool was thoroughly enjoyed day and night and the long kitchen table hosted many family board games. All the little touches were very appreciated! We will go back highly recommending Casa de La Luz to anyone looking for a family vacation and villa rental.

The property was great. Everyone enjoyed the pool and there was enough room for everyone to spread out and relax.
It was nice having a gated compound as we could let the young ones wonder about without worrying. Sone days we never left our little personal paradise!
The location was easy walking distance to the beach, dive shops, restaurants and a couple small grocery stores.
We had 4 divers in our group and it was amazing to wake up, walk to the Dive Shop, dive and walk back, all before 10am!

Casa de la Luz is a gorgeous home with all the amenities you need to enjoy your family vacation. My family and I felt at home as soon as we got there. It is spacious to accommodate a large group each area of the home enable everyone to enjoy each other’s company’s or be alone if needed. Aside from the house and unique furnishes, the daily maid service was exceptional! The house was always spic and span, bedrooms always serviced and fresh towels both in room and beach towels refreshed if needed. Great time had by all! Will certainly be returning.

The whole family ages 8 months, 2 years, 4 years and 11 adults had the time of our lives staying at Casa de La Luz. The property was so beautiful and comfortable. The pictures do not do it justice. We used the pool daily. There were floats for the kids to enjoy which was so helpful. All of the bed rooms were so comfortable. Water was provided in all of the bathrooms for drinking. The beds and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. The air conditioning was nicely cold throughout the house. The birds and animal noises were lovely. The roof deck was fun for yoga, star gazing and sunrises. Having the provided golf cart for our use was so appreciated. The location is fantastic and walkable to many restaurants, shops and the beach. The house keepers were such a nice perk. They were non intrusive and yet very helpful and kind. We took advantage of having Chef Daveed's crew for three meals, one of which was a cooking class. I can highly recommend the class! There were seven of us in the class. We learned so much about cooking authentic Mexican food from Chef Esmerelda. She was kind, thoughtful and informative. She also spoke enough English that we were able to communicate well and learn from her. Her crew was also very nice and worked hard. We have no complaints and would highly recommend the stay here! The manager came by and told us all about the area, giving us great advice on what to do and where to go to enhance our stay. It could not have been a better vacation!

The house is wonderfully big with room for 3 generations. The pool is lovely and relaxing. The housekeeping staff was excellent, the chefs outstanding. The property is well protected and located in a great area of local shops and restaurants. The beach is just a short walk away.

Group of 4 families 14 total guests with kids from 3 to 13. Lots of room for everyone. Easily able to cook for a crowd in the kitchen. Close to cenotes and lagoon. Beach access is limited but the pool was great. Most of the beach in Akumal is private or you have to pay to walk on it (or eat at a beach restaurant) so early morning beach walks were not really possible. There is a nice safe road to walk/run on. The caretakers are wonderful and kind. Really was a glorious week.

My family of 7 grandchildren, 3 sons, and 2 DIL, and Grandparents. First of all, the pictures truly do NOT do the property justice as it is really quite magnificent.
The six bedrooms are all large with gorgeous en-suite. There is liquid soap and shampoo in each bathroom along with a hairdryer and water/glasses for drinking. The MBR has a sunken tub that my grandkids used once and the little ones loved it.
The FR is spacious and looks out onto the pool area so it is easy to watch children if you would like to remain inside. The sofa is comfortable and a nice place to gather. The ceiling is a beautiful brick pattern and can be see the same pattern in another bedroom; it is really a nice touch. The DR table is spacious and open to the FR. The kitchen has everything you need.
The pool area is pretty much perfect for little kids as well as big kids and the lap pool is a really nice benefit. At first I was concerned with the planters in the middle but the kids found them fun to hide behind while playing hide and seek. They also climbed up and jumped off them with no injuries. The foliage was lovely along with the birds who were often quite noisy (in the morning especially). We did see Edward the Iguana and the kids delighted in feeding him banana skins.
Make sure you go to the rooftop to star gaze at night, it is a perfect spot to put down a beach towel and enjoy; we were even lucky enough to see a shooting star.
The distance into town was so easy and there were plenty of little places to dine, get snacks, and little souvenirs to take home. The golf cart was so easy and a really nice benefit.
My granddaughter and I made a list of all the pros and cons of this property and to be honest, we really struggled with the cons. When comparing it to a previous rental, the location of this home, (not on the beach) was the biggest con. For some reason, I thought the beach was connected to the property but it is not. You must leave the property, walk down the street with your belongings to get to the beach. The beach area is quite small and very very crowded and many boats are docked nearby. The beach we went to was crowded with fellow tourists snorkeling in the beautiful waters. There was food and drinks available for purchase as well as chairs and umbrellas.
We were fortunate enough to have the chef's services twice a day for 6 days. The food was fantastic and the staff were the nicest people!

Stayed with 14 family members. House ideally located, short walk to restaurants, dive shop, and beach. House beautiful and bedrooms / bathrooms all nice. Pool lovely (subject to comment below). Iguanas, frogs, and a turtle live in yard. Ordered groceries pre-arrival. Chef Daveed prepared two dinners and a breakfast, all excellent. Used golf cart (and second we rented) quite a bit. In addition to little town area near arch, several restaurants and bars in opposite direction on road to Yal Ku Lagoon. Arranged turtle tour at dive shop, massages at Buddha Garden Spa, and yoga instructor came to house. Technically you have to pay to access beach; we mostly avoided by going to Lol Ha Restaurant (or saying we were), spa, dive shop, or sneaking in. Beach can get crowded, but water is lovely, good swimming. Can rent beach loungers from Lol Ha. Town shuts down at 9:00pm or 10:00pm; quiet alternative to Tulum. Taxis usually available at arch. ATM in dive shop charges hefty fee for USD. Only negatives: Keys confusing. Impossible to lock up everything without issuing each guest own set. Outer gate remains locked, but there is trick to locking gate with lock box to avoid locking people in. Had to figure out on our own. Suggest having orientation evening of arrival. Issue with septic system; periodic unpleasant odor in pool area. Toilet backed up on Sunday; property manager not helpful, we had to buy plunger and deal with. Suggest not drinking water in bathroom urns.

We had an amazing time. The house was beautiful and better than the pictures. We traveled with 9 adults no kids. Plenty of room for everyone. Every room had its own bathroom and shower, and there was an extra shower and bathroom in the main living quarters The staff was friendly, accommodating, and professional. Monica was patient and kind during our many questions and our every changing travel plans. We use the Chef Daveed service 3 dinners and one brunch. Food was amazing and they accommodated our food allergies perfectly. This is a must day if you’re looking for a quiet sleepy town in Mexico lots of local restaurants shops, but things do close around 9-10 o’clock. We are looking for drinks on the beach or fine dining experience. All are very close to the house are easy to access using the golf cart. We had adventures to different beaches, the lagoon close by and in Tumum taxis and the bus. The cenotes are amazing to see and worth the drive. Already talking about our return plans next year.

This was a perfect family retreat. The house was built like a fortress. It was incredibly quiet and in fact you really couldn't hear anyone when your door was closed. We did not need a car because the beach, restaurants and stores were all a short walk. The pool was beautiful and the housekeeper & landscaper made sure that we had everything we needed.

Myself and extended family spent our Christmas holiday together in this house. The house was perfect for our needs, spacious, clean, and we all loved the pool! Monica was super helpful before the trip helping to arrange transfers from the airport and Hugo was equally as helpful during our stay, getting us in touch with a wonderful and trustworthy tour guide to explore the area. Eduardo and Liliana are top notch and made us feel very taken care of and luxurious during our time there. We even took use of Daveed’s personal chef service twice which really elevated our stay with chefs Esmerelda and Alex treating us to an authentic Mexican holiday meal.
Highly recommend a stay here, house is perfect, service is perfect and there is so much to do in the area.

My family of eight stayed at Casa de la Luz from November 12-19, 2023. We found the home clean and more beautiful than the listing photos. We had margaritas, pico de gallo and the best guacamole we've ever had waiting for us. Riviera Maya Groceries had stocked the pantry/refrigerator and Akumal Guide had delivered our extra golf cart and two bicycles before our arrival. What a great start to what became the most wonderful and relaxing vacation we've had as a family. Each bedroom was unique and the design allowed good separation between each. The three upstairs bedrooms are all part of the main home and have both tubs and large showers. The master has a king bed, a view of the pool and a sunken tub. The second bedroom has a king bed, a view of the pool, and a free standing tub. The third bedroom has two queen beds, faces the front of the property, and also has a free standing tub. The three lower bedrooms have large showers and are located under the top floor bedrooms. However, they are not part of the main house and are accessed individually from the outside courtyard. There was only one courtyard key to the main house, which made it difficult for us to lock the house at night and still grant access for those staying in these three rooms. We would recommend the property managers provide a key for each of those three bedrooms to the courtyard entrance to the home for future guests. Other than this, everything about the house, the housekeepers and the groundskeepers was perfect and as described in the listing. Every restaurant in town is within walking distance and the golf carts made getting to La Buena Vida a breeze. We highly recommend spending an adventurous day at Xplor and swimming with the turtles in Akumal Bay. We are already looking forward to our next stay in Akumal at this beautiful home in paradise.

My husband and I stayed here for a week with our 4 young children and it was an incredible property! The grounds are breathtaking and Monica was beyond helpful with planning. Before the trip, she connected us to a local “planner” that help guide us through the process of planning excursions. It was seamless. We utilized Chef Daveed’s services and Esmeralda and Alan were incredible and went the extra mile to make sure we were all happy- both adults and children! We went back and forth before the trip between this house and another one on the beach but without a pool and we were immediately thankful for our decision. Due to the sargasm weed on the beach (which obviously is beyond anyone’s control) we used the pool a ton! It was a huge bonus. Can’t recommend this property enough!

Perfect Family Vacation Home
We could have not been more impressed with this vacation home. Everything was not only exactly as described but the photo's really did not do justice to the size of this property. If you stay here you literally have your very own compound. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Liliana and Arturo we felt at home. Our host Hugo also dropped by a few times to check on us. Every detail was perfect.
This house is walking distance to the beach, bars, shopping and several great restaurants. There is even a convenience store just a few blocks away. The hotel across the street will also rent you a palapa and chairs.
Akumal is beautiful and quiet but you are only a taxi ride away from the nightlife of Tulum, PGA Golf and water parks.

Amazing house!
Can’t say enough about this house. It was like having our own beautiful resort. There were 5 families and no one ever felt like they didn’t have enough space. Each room has its own bathroom, many being super spacious with indoor/outdoor features. The furnishings and everything in the house were great quality and very clean. The pool area is beautiful, complete with its own tiki bar with grill. The staff on hand did a wonderful job keeping everything clean and running well. We hired chef Daveed for many meals and it was one of the highlights of our trip. It was an incredible trip! We can’t wait to come back one day!

Family Vacation
The property was outstanding. The caretakers Edwardo and Lilliana made the stay exceptional. Lilliana makes the best “pico de gallo” and guacamole in town. Unfortunately we were not advised that there was construction going on 6 days a week from 8am to 5pm until we arrived!!

The property was beautiful, there was so much room for all of us to have privacy and enjoy the home as couples. Everyone in our group, agreed this was by far the most beautiful we have stayed at to date. I would definitely recommend this home, we hope to rent again someday! We all enjoyed our stay in Akumal!

Beautiful Home
The home itself was gorgeous and spacious with a beautiful pool. We liked the location to nice restaurants and the snorkeling beach. Our only issue was that right next door there was a giant construction project where workers would watch us at the pool and the noise could get quite loud during morning and daytime hours.

We had a great time at this property. It is beautiful and spacious with plenty of space for everyone to be together and privacy when you need it. We spent a lot of time at the large table in the backyard talking and just enjoying being together. The caretakers, Liliana and Eduardo, are always working hard to keep the house and the grounds in pristine condition.
We hired Chef Daveed's crew for several meals and they were the best meals that we had!! Thank you to Alex and Samuel!
Akumal is small, and it's easy to walk everywhere although we enjoyed having the golf cart. Overall, a great week!

Perfect house for family vacation!
Our family of 14, ages 2 - 83, booked this fabulous house for a thanksgiving get away. The property exceeded our expectations. It is absolutely beautiful. Plenty of room for each family/couple to have privacy, yet it had plenty of large, beautiful spaces to gather. The property managers, Monica and Hugo, were helpful throughout the process and had wonderful recommendations. Edwardo and Lilianna kept the grounds and house beautiful and clean. They were very helpful and attentive. The location was great as we could walk to restaurants, shops and the beach. We hired chef Daveed’s crew to prepare several meals and they were outstanding. We highly recommend them! We hope to be back to this lovely house!

30th birthday to remember
This house was absolutely AMAZING!!! The location is perfect. Every room in the house is super spacious with full bathrooms, two of the rooms had daybeds for extra sleeping space. The pool is large and the groundskeeper cleaned it every morning. We paid for the private chef service for the week and Daveed and his team were phenomenal, definitely worth the money and convenience. We did go to one of the local restaurants for dinner and it was delicious as well with beautiful views of the ocean. The beach is steps away from the house as mentioned with a full restaurant that provides beach service if you purchase a cabana and chairs which was veryyy inexpensive. The golf cart was a great addition for local store runs. Again, this house was perfect, we came with a group of 14. I’m already planning to book again for next year!

10 Day Vacation for 12
We booked our vacation as a much needed getaway to come together with family & friends to recharge & celebrate a milestone birthday. The property exceeded our expectations. Casa de la Luz truly is special. The pictures online don’t do this gem justice. All of Monica’s suggestions were all outstanding with the exception of the transportation service. After we remedied an early issue around transportation, I worked extremely hard to ensure clear communication with Miguel. Even after one of his driver’s confirmed payment via PayPal and we sent him 2 screenshots from PayPal that clearly stated the days of service and what the service was for, he accused me of non-payment & threatened to cancel our transfers to the airport the next day if I didn’t pay him again. Once I refused to remit additional payment and communicated that I would report him, his bookkeeper miraculously found the payment. There was no sincere apology; just more arrogance with the statement “you act like you’ve never made a mistake.” On a more positive note, the groundskeeper Edwardo and the housekeeper are phenomenal. Incredibly helpful and professional. I highly recommend the chef service. They accommodated our rotating group of 12’s dietary needs. They were not only professional but also kind and fun! The food was absolutely delicious. Chef Daveed’s team is top notch. Monica also provided a recommendation for a yoga instructor who came to the house & led us in yoga and guided meditation.
The only other critique I have is around the communication after the hurricane. We had 2 full days left on our vacation when the hurricane hit. While Monica’s brother came over to discuss the preparation for the property for the hurricane and gave us some advice on what to expect, the communication in the days after fell flat. They stopped by the next morning to assess the damage on the house but we didn’t feel like much care was given to us as guests. We were without water & power for almost 24 hours. I had to give the suggestion to have buckets of water in the bathrooms to facilitate flushing of the toilets. We are also without internet. While I completely understand that all of the power & water issues were outside of their control, it would have been helpful to receive a check in call or text to let us know the status on these items. No one checked on us for the remainder of our stay which was disappointing. Hoping this was just an oversight. Otherwise, outstanding!

Even better in person
I rented this home to celebrate my 40th birthday with friends and family. Everything about the property exceeded expectations. There were margaritas and snacks awaiting us when we arrived. The pool felt like a tropical paradise. While there are many restaurants and activities nearby, it was hard to convince anyone to leave the compound, which speaks volumes of the property itself. Monica was great to communicate with, and Liliana and Eduardo, the housekeeper and groundskeeper, were lovely and helpful. I was sad to leave, and would absolutely come back and stay here again.
Fun tip: If you’re craving an authentic meal, wander across the highway to Akumal village where most of the locals live - some phenomenal food to be found, and most of it won’t show up on a map.

We had a great time.
The property is beautiful, there are 3 rooms attached but outside main residence, which ended up ok, we had 6 children we put the 9 and 2 8 year olds out there, we took walkie talkies so they could tell us they were awake in morning and we could go meet them. The housekeeper and groundskeeper were fantastic. Our host was very helpful, always replied quickly to any questions. My only complaint would be there is only one gate clicker, we had 2 golf carts, 2 bikes and 14 people, so it took a lot of planning if our group split up, Eduardo the groundskeeper was a big help with this issue. Overall it was a great vacation I would definitely rate Casa De La Luz 5 ⭐️.

CANT WAIT TO GO BACK
Not only was the property and staff amazing but the location as well. Definitely would recommend hiring the chef FOR SURE...food/presentation/service everything was great. Anytime we needed help with something we got solutions ASAP. Staff cleaned the pool/rooms daily. The ONLY thing that was a bit of an issue was that since it was gated and there was no doorbell and only one key..the group had to stay together or communicate by phone to get inside. However, I would rent and plan on renting again in a heartbeat.

A total gem
This place was amazing. We had a group of 10 adults and couldn't have asked for a better set up. The house and each of the rooms were huge. The common area, outside living area, and pool area were by far and away what made the property so perfect for our group. We looked at a lot of other properties in the area and even booked one previously... I highly recommend this one over the other ones. You won't be disappointed :)

The house is amazing. All bedrooms are suites with baths attached, and superbly appointed. If anything, the pictures don’t do the house justice. The layout is great, and the location is hard to beat. I hate leaving this rave review because I really want this place all to myself...

Like a Private Resort for large groups, in the heart of Akumal Bay
We have traveled several times to Akumal, staying in different private properties, with adult friends. When we decided to host a visit to Akumal with our adult children and their significant others, we wanted to make sure we had just the right place. Casa De La Luz was hands down the right choice!
As other reviewers point out, there is so much more to the property than the pictures show. Casa De La Luz is a sprawling oasis of comfort right in the midst of Akumal Bay's offerings. The entire property is tastefully decorated, with comfortable furnishings throughout. The size of the property allowed each couple to have privacy when they wanted. And the common living and play areas easily accommodated the entirety of our group of 10. Add to this, the entire properly is cocooned within its perimeter walls, providing a sense of intimacy, privacy, and security. The rear facing patio, pool, pond, gardens were resort perfect. With so much to do in Akumal, each day brought a choice to venture out or linger in our own private resort.
Monica, the property manager, was friendly and highly responsive before, and throughout, our stay. She coordinated with pre-arrival grocery delivery and ensured we had margaritas, guacamole, and salsa snacks when we arrived. Whenever we had a question or need for assistance, she responded politely and quickly. We couldn't have been more happy with everything she did for us. The housekeeping and groundskeeping staff members worked quietly in the background throughout our stay to keep the home and the grounds looking like the day we checked in. The on site staff's English was a bit more limited than usual for Akumal, but this didn't present major challenges in communicating.
Overall, we were all highly satisfied with our choice to stay at Casa De La Luz. I recommend this property for large groups seeking to spend time together, while having opportunities for private time or adventuring in Akumal Bay or Akumal North. This property is most definitely a real value, amongst all the choices in Akumal.
A final note, we have always stayed in waterfront properties during prior Akumal stays, so I personally had a few reservations about not being 'on water' with this stay. I can say now that we didn't miss the waterfront a bit. We had ready access to Akumal beach only steps away from the property. The tradeoff for having a 'private resort' for our family to reconnect and enjoy time together was worth it.

Perfect Location
We loved everything about Casa De La Lux. . It is right in town so we could walk to all of the restaurant and to the beach. The house was so perfect it was hard to motivate anyone to leave. The week went way too fast cant wait to return.
