Character of the property, friendliness of host, cleanliness etc

I dont want to appear negative. However, there were a few niggles. Booking.com is unclear about breakfast, not advising that only continental is available during the week. We had thought that there would be cooked breakfast available. No ventilation for the room, so very stuffy on a very hot day - not even a fan to use. The room was not quiet, being on a fairly busy road, although an attempt to cure this had been made with two sets of secondary double glazing - which i was not able to open for fresh air. There is a pump of some kind, the other side of the wall for the bathroom, which periodically fired up for a few seconds throughout the night, waking us both. Lovely shower, but he shower tray felt like it was going to collapse, being very flexible in the middle. We straddled the flexy section, by standing with our feet towards the edges of the tray.

Fabulous breakfast, clean, simple but comfortable room. Lovely host.

Very quaint and well thought out for a guest house. Great location for Goodwood.

Nowhere to hang long dress as wardrobe half height due to eves. Just needs an extra hook somewhere for longer clothes.

Matt was very friendly and helpful. The printed information on where to eat and travelling times is very helpful if you're new to the area. Breakfast was good, we had the buffet not the cooked. Excellent location for Goodwood races.

Maybe a bit picky but one of the cups in the room was chipped.

Very close to a local pub, near to Goodwood, very relaxed welcoming hosts & a beautiful breakfast buffet (midweek) to start the day. Would happily return.

A delightful family and charming hosts. I was attending the Goodwood Festival and the location couldn’t be better.

My room was next to the road so I did notice the traffic a little.

Limited parking but wasn’t an issue during my stay

Overall a great family run place, we've been to a lot of places with our 1 year old and this is the only one we'd go back too.

The breakfast was a very good continental. Self service, good quality and once I discovered that the coffee in the jar was in fact ground coffee for the cafetieres provided, perfect. I believe at weekends there is also the option of a cooked breakfast. My room was called a small single which I found perfectly adequate, as it was perfectly formed. Spotlessly clean, with everything you could possibly need. The owners are there but not seen unless you need anything , when they are readily available. I would go back there and thoroughly recommend it. If you wish to visit Chichester, leave the car and catch the bus across the road.

The room was very comfortable, well decorated, clean and had all the facilities you might wish for. The hosts were lovely, friendly, helpful and informative. A great location for Chichester, Arundel, Goodwood and the coast. The hot breakfast was also delicious! Would definitely go again , and highly recommend this guest house.

There was really nothing to dislike!

Room was spotless and tastefully decorated. Bed and pillows were super comfy. Bathroom well equipped. Great breakfast. Matt is a great host.

Nothing for the money

Matt is an exceptional host! I stopped at the The Old Store Guest House while cycling the South Downs Way, after an exhausting day, Matt provided everything I could ask for (cleaning the bike, store it securely, advice for local pubs etc.). The excellent breakfast was a great way to start the next day as well!

Lovely place to stay. Clean and spacious accommodation. Freshly cooked tasty breakfast.

Can't really fault it. A usb power socket would be useful. But other than that everything was well provided.

Matt was very welcoming, he couldn’t do enough for us. Short and sweet visit but for the price of the room I was blown away with the standard of room, service and facilities.

The historic building was beautifully updated and very comfortable. The room was welcoming and there was a comfortable lounge for guests to enjoy too. There were good refreshments. The freshly prepared breakfast was exceptional. Our host was friendly and able to tell us something about the area.

Only staying for one night!

Nice converted old store, family run. Pleasantly furnished and decorated. Well organised. Fresh milk and cake for rooms was typical of thoughtfulness. Good pub within easy walking distance.

Parking space tight, but in the end there was space for all.
