We stayed here in the past and the experience was just as perfect as last time. The cabin was very clean and welcoming. We enjoyed all the wildlife viewing, the pedal boat and just sitting on the porch taking it all in. Definitely plan to return here again! Thanks Maureen and Jim for sharing this amazing place.

We stayed at this LOVELY property more than two years ago while visiting our son at school. At that time, the home was absolutely spotless and well-appointed and the property was beautiful. We promptly booked it for our son's commencement weekend two years later. Having now returned to the property two years later, it was just as spotless, beautiful and conveniently located as we remembered! Highly recommend!

Great relaxing gettaway

For those looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway this is the place to be. The cabin was well-stocked and very clean. The property is large with plenty of space to roam around or take a stroll. Most of all, staying here is a lot of fun due to the tons of games and activities available both inside and out. Nighttime offers some magnificent star-gazing opportunities as well as a firepit by the lake. To sum up this is a great place to create new joyful memories with family and friends.

This property is a must!!! Private setting on private lake, that deer are seen daily! Maureen is a joy to work with, and the cabin is spotless!

Ray's Retreat is just that. A beautiful setting to enjoy all that Central New York has to offer. If you are hiking, antiquing, visiting the local college campuses or just "retreating," this is the place.

The property and cabin are absolutely gorgeous. There are many movies, games and activities available for every age group. It is so peaceful and relaxing. Just loved sitting on the porch in the rocking chair and watching the pond.

Ray’s Rustic Retreat is absolutely gorgeous! It was everything that our family needed… it had so many activities to do at every age level. The fishing however took first place with our family as an activity. Maureen was very responsive to our emails and was very helpful before and during our stay. The cabin was very clean and it just made you feel so welcome!! We plan to return again!

I was in town for my 45th high school reunion. This is our second time renting this property, and we will be back in the fall. Maureen is a great host. I have never been to a VRBO that was so heavily stocked with starter goods, like spices, laundry, cleaning products, paper goods etc. The grounds are immaculate, the cabin is immaculate, and the deer and the geese come every day. We can’t wait for our time in the fall. I highly recommend this property.

We will looking for a fun and comfortable spot for our family (couple with adult children and partners) while we attended events for a family wedding in Utica. It was an easy scenic drive to Utica. The rustic retreat was clean, lovely and well-equipped for fun. During our quiet times, we were able to play their Kan Jam in their large yard. Kitchen was well-stocked and even had an electric griddle for pancakes. The beds were also comfortable after some long days. It was perfect for us. Thank you.

The grounds were well kept, views spectacular, kayaking, paddleboat, horseshoe, badminton, cornhole, games for the kids and firepit. Will definitely book again next year

We have been coming to Ray’s for several years now and can’t say enough good things about this property! If you enjoy relaxing on the fabulous porch with morning coffee or afternoon cocktails, taking in the views of the spacious, well manicured property with the beautiful hills beyond, this is the place for you! If you prefer to be more active and enjoy great fishing, paddle boating, many outdoor games that are provided and eating s’mores by the fire pit, this is the place for you! Once you step inside this beautiful cabin you feel right at home. It is extremely clean, very comfortable and very well appointed. Maureen and Jim are excellent hosts and go above and beyond to make certain their guests have everything they need ! This was our second stay at this property. We stayed last summer & loved it so much, we decided to come back this year! The house & the property are wonderful. The house is very, very clean and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. And the property is just beautiful & incredibly peaceful. Our family loves fishing in the pond, going out in the boats, and playing in the big yard. We will definitely be back in the future!

Wonderful property! So much to do. Went Kayaking for the first time, took our kids fishing for the first time and had a few camp fires. The cabin was fully stocked with everything you could need and very clean. Loved this property. We throughly enjoyed our stay!

The cabin is in great condition, very private, and better than advertised. The hosts were kind and very communicative. There were so many fun things to do inside or out rain or shine. The cabin is very well stocked and lovingly cared for. Our grandson declared "It is the best cabin EVER!"

Our family came to celebrate Colgate graduation and it was the perfect location. 15-20 minutes away and such a cool house with beautiful views and so many activities to do at the house…corn hole, paddle boat, badminton, horseshoes etc. just a fantastic getaway totally private and comfortable

It was like coming home again. The weather was perfect for us, this time and we ended up spending most of our time out on the porch listening to the birds and watching Victoria and Albert (2 resident Canada geese) caring for their 3 babies. Everything we needed was at the cabin and each year we find that we can pack less and less because the cabin is so well provisioned with amenities.

This property is amazing!!! The pictures do not do with his property justice. It is much nicer and much newer than the picture show. Upon arriving at the Cabin the first thing I noticed was how clean this cabin was. If you are all worried about Covid, you have no concerns at this property it was spotless including every window. My husband and I needed a time of rest which that cabin was perfect for. But if you bring your family, this property offers so much. Both inside and out!! The kitchen is fully stocked, as are paper goods, such as paper towels , toilet paper, etc. There was dish soap dishwasher soap laundry soap etc. also. I cannot recommend this property enough, we had a great time.

The property was very clean and very comfortable. It had everything that we needed and more. Very peaceful. The weather was a little chilly, but the electric fireplace warmed up the living area. If it had been warmer I am sure that we would have used the fire pit and outdoor games that were there. The Poolville County Store was our favorite restaurant.

Beautiful home surrounded by nature. The house is even more beautiful than the pictures portray. My kids had a great week fishing and swimming in the lake and roasting marshmallows by the fire. We would definitely love to return.

We have been renting Ray’s Rustic Retreat for several years now and I can’t say enough good things about this property! The property itself is stunning and beautifully landscaped. The home is immaculate, the beds and the furniture extremely comfortable and the house is very well equipped. The porches are perfect for morning coffee, afternoon or evening cocktails or just relaxing the day away! If you or your children or grandchildren are more adventurous, there are numerous games and activities to enjoy. Our grandchildren especially loved the boats, fishing ( a perfect place to take kids fishing as they always catch fish) and playing basketball. Maureen and Jim are the perfect hosts and are continually adding improvements to this gorgeous property. They go above and beyond to make certain their guests have everything they need for an enjoyable stay! We had an amazing stay at Ray’s Rustic Retreat! The house itself was very, very clean and comfortable! It had everything you would need, plus so many extras! And the property is so peaceful and private. The pictures can’t even do it justice! Our boys loved fishing in the pond - they caught so many fish! We spent so much time playing outside and enjoying time with family. It was a very memorable vacation, and we would love to come back & stay again in the future!

House and property very well maintained, plenty of games and activities to keep all entertained.

We came here last year and the peace, quiet and beauty are so healing. We just relaxed. I brought my scrapbooking stuff, we slept in, watched movies and were lazy. My husband was in between 2 surgeries and it was the perfect place to get away and be quiet for a few days.

Like some of the other reviewers indicate, this place is just absolutely perfect. Maureen and Jim have obviously thought of everything to make everyone comfortable. Not only is the fire pit perfectly placed, but they also think of the little things like providing a starter kit for s'mores and supplying enough wood for our first campfire. They even had kindling, a lighter and the little wood chip covered wax balls used to start the fire. As soon as we arrived, there was an incredible sense of calm about the whole place, and we were immediately able to relax. So many places look nice, but the beds are not comfortable. Not here! The beds were VERY comfortable! This makes a huge difference when renting for more than a couple of nights. We certainly plan to book this place for future stays for whenever we visit central NY.
