In 20 years of rentals I have never encountered a dirtier property. The carpet was so stained. Bathrooms were not clean. Dirty bandaid on the floor in the living g room . Kitchen poorly equipped. Grass was over 7 inches tall. Finally cut on Thursday. Pool and hot tub were great. Not anyone's fault but way to the beach access was flooded most of the week. Would not rent from this company ever again

Whalehead Retreat #046
We were very excited to have booked in OBX for our family reunion for 7/2022. However this house definitely needs some attention indoors and outdoors. Management company said they provide us with a starter pack of cleaning supplies….. that was one papertowel and two cups in a bag. There was one roll of toilet paper which we found in one of the bedrooms. Thankfully, we brought plenty with us.
Upon arrival, we had two beds with dirty sheets - sand in the bed. One bathroom toilet overflowed - my husband (who is a contractor ) realized they had the water to that toilet turned off because it was leaking from the base. One shower curtain was filled with mold. Broken bulbs in light fixtures.
Not all rooms have televisions and not all rooms have ceiling fans. Tv remotes were all mixed up throughout the house. There was not an outdoor fridge near the tiki bar as advertised. Outside of the house could use pressure washing from all the spider webs and bugs. Advertised we had access to the garage - that was false.
Needless to say, we called and emailed a list about the property the very same day we checked in.
Someone did contact me the next day. Day2 They dropped off new sheets but we already had to wash the sheets in order to sleep in them on Day 1. Day 3 someone came to figure out all the tv remotes and pair them with the right tv. Also they dropped off the tv that is advertised to be in the game room.
They did not fix the broken toilet Til Day 4 of our trip. Never had access to the garage. Never received any feedback about the outdoor fridge besides the management company stating they never knew it was listed in the ad about the property. Cleaning and organization in the place could for sure be better. My family and I cleaned and organized it better than how it was given to us.
Overall, the property suited the purpose of having enough room for all of us but needs some attention.

Disappointed stay
The house was so dirty with broken and very worn furniture that it overshadowed the other nicities of being at the beach. We were very disappointed in how many things were wrong with this property. Extremely dirty windows, bugs plastered on the outside of the entrance and the rest of the house, missing and broken chairs, dirty walls to name just a few. Although the rental company responded quickly when we complained about the stopped up drains and toilets, the house being in such disrepair had to be a reflection on them for not taking care of the property. We will not stay here again.

Property Sufficed
The house was in a good location and not far from the beach and the house did the job for the weekend plans we had but there was some issues. The showers don’t drain water well at all. One shower we couldn’t use because it didn’t drain at all. There was still water in it when we left and it was used the first day we got there. The house had bugs. Spiders, Beatles, and when we opened the sliding door it had rotted wood up top and bugs fell out of it when we opened it. The carpets are really stained, walls had dirt on them, spider webs and bugs in all the windows, the pool area was dirty, an old tube in the pool that’s closed, a chlorine bucket just floating in the pool, the hot tub was okay but the hot tub lights didn’t work. It was just run down overall. The kitchen chairs were not all there. There was brown bar stools in closets and a broken kitchen chair in the corner of my bedroom. Every picture on the walls was hung crooked. Just didn’t look like the pictures online. In my opinion they are letting it just all fall apart. Won’t be staying here ever again and will look for better properties and go by reviews next time.

Was disappointed
Myself and a group of friends recently stayed here for a 3 day stay. While the location of the house was nice, and just a short walk to the beach, the rest of the house was pretty disappointing aside from the jacuzzi . The home is extremely dirty. The carpets have huge stains everywhere and were wet upstairs when we arrived. No one even felt comfortable enough to take their shoes off. The walls were gross and covered in all kids of grime, the windows and doors were covered in bugs, etc and looked like they had not been washed in years. Half of the 8 toilets in the home didn’t work. It was disappointing as I booked this home to celebrate my 30th birthday and while we did not let it ruin our trip it was uncomfortable to stay somewhere so dirty. We decided to stay as when booking it states no refunds, and we had traveled hours to get there.

Not well managed
upkeep of the house neglected to have the garage blocked off , the door (side garage door)was wide open when we got there so anyone could have been inside (concerning) we didn’t know what we were walking into. The garage was supposed to be inaccessible (we didnt know at the time) as we were carrying in groceries some old bed frames with exposed metal rods were stacked in garage but a small walkway to the inside, my mom managed to bump into one which caused her to lose her balance and scraped the metal rod so we immediately had to call the ambulance the gash she acquired on her leg required 10 stitches and ultimately put a huge damper on our trip, hospital was 50 mins away. being 3 stories she had a hard time getting around and could not get into the pool. If the room was blocked off it would've never happened. The lights did not work properly in the garage and some in the pool area. I know its advertised in the fine print that the pool heater and cable tv isn’t guaranteed to work. But it definitely seemed like everything they mentioned that wasn’t guaranteed to work, didn’t . Also alot of nails of the ground in pool area i had to pick up for the safety of my kids. Its a lovely property with alot of potential but very terribly managed unfortunately. Nor any offers of compensation in regards to any issues we had. Was definitely expecting better, sadly we will not be booking this property in the future for these reasons. Very disappointing

Great quiet spot!
We stayed there in the middle of May and although the weather wasn't as hot as it should have been (mid 60's) we had a great time. We were able to house 15 people comfortably and had a great time! Cooking for that many people isn't always the easiest but the kitchen was big and accommodating for the group.
The house was on the third street from the beach but it was a 8-10 minutes walk to the beach. Easily accessible. The beach was never crowded either which was great. We always had our own spot with ample room.
Most of our time together was spent out on the deck, or the pool side or the game room.
The house isn't spotless in terms of maintenance but I know a huge house like that is hard to keep up entirely. The overall space was clean though.
With 8 master beds (with bathrooms) everyone had their own space.
We thought the place was exactly what we needed and would definitely come back!

Worn but very clean
The house was exceptionally clean when we arrived. The carpets are rather worn and some areas are well used. It would have been a beautiful place 10 years ago, and a little updating and maintenance could get it back to beautiful. The bathrooms were very clean and functional. The location is great, just 2 short blocks to the beach and there is a lot of outdoor space to spread out. Once we settled in, we overlooked the sparseness of the house and had a fantastic time.

Needs cleaning and an exterminator!!!
The house definitely was not cleaned properly all the ceiling fans were coated in dust and cob webs and Spider webs all over the house!! Also we swear we saw cockroaches and my friends husband slept in the couch one night and he swears he saw a bug crawl across him !

Great house, plenty of space
We enjoyed our stay... the house had plenty of space for our large group. Only wish the kitchen was better stocked in terms of pots and pans and dishes for the oven - we were cooking for 18 and it was difficult with the dishes. The fridge on the main level also lacked storage space. Other than that, the pool and hot tub were great, as was the game room (perfect for our teens) and it was an easy walk to the beach.

Disappointed in Management
This was the perfect house for our family and friends vacation getaway but unfortunately management had the worse customer service I have ever dealt with
1) On arrival the tiki bar did not have a TV. Not only is it advertised as such in the description but also in two of the pictures advertised. We contacted management within five minutes of arriving and they put a work order in. Day 78 check-out, still no TV.
2) There is a shuffleboard as advertised but good luck using it because they don't give you any saw dust for it. I contacted management as soon as it was discovered and again, all I got was a work order. Day 8 check-out, still not saw dust.
3) Paid for the pool to get heated for the week and every morning for 3 days we woke up to a freezing pool because whoever came every morning to maintenance the pool turned off the valve. We had no idea what was going on initially and we were told from management there is no electrician in house, we will put in a work order. Our first day of finally no rain and we have a 60 degree pool.
4) Three screen blew out of the windows at some point and one screen was completely missing on the 3rd level screen porch. Pretty dangerous.
5) If you plan on having family dinners like we did every night, go buy plastic utensils because we had to share forks since they do not even have the kitchen equipped for the amount of people who can stay there
6) The 1960's blender stopped working the third day and one of the coffee pots hadn't worked since day 1. Everything in that kitchen is so outdated with no organization and random shit thrown into cabinets.

Memorial Day 2020
We had a great time at this house! The beach was walking distance right down the road. Everyone had their own space and we didn't feel on top of each other. We loved being able to sit on the deck and hang out. The pool was great!..as was the hot tub! We would definitely recommend this property to anyone staying in Corolla!

Great beach house for large family gathering
Great house for our group of 11 adults and 7 kids.
Pros: Great access to the beach, only a block away. Each room has it's own bathroom, which was wonderful. Spacious living area/ kitchen. Plenty of pots/ pans in the kitchen. Great communication and response time from the host! They checked in with us via text and came immediately to fix a broken toilet.
Cons: The pool and kiddie pool were dirty (leaves, dead frogs in the pool because it looked like it had been uncovered for a while). The hot tub was covered so we used that, but it was still a little murky. The house had the necessities (towels, bar soap and toilet paper), but no shampoo/ dish soap etc so we had to go buy our own, so just be prepared for that.
Overall we enjoyed the house and would stay here again! Tip: Book directly through Outer Banks Blue (they give you a discount)
