The only disappointment was the apartment being described as “luxury”. It was perfect for our needs, but not at all luxury, which is a little misleading.

Absolutely nothing

This part of Alvor is lovely (the old village). The apartment was comfortable, clean and spacious. We were on the ground floor and our private terrace didn’t get any sun in the day (we visited in March) but the shared roof terrace is a joy with fabulous views, sun and sunsets. There are lovely walks from the village along the cliffs by the river and through the sand-dunes. The nature here is stunning!

The apartment is very blank - needs some paintings on the walls. Parking in the street outside is difficult (narrow and busy) but there’s plenty of free parking a few minutes walk away by the fishermen’s shacks. Alvor, like the rest of the Algarve, is rapidly becoming overdeveloped with tower blocks round the corner by the beach and sprawl inland. In summer it must be chaos here!
