From arriving at Hotel Ani late one evening where we were given a glass of fizz to enjoy sitting around the pool until leaving for the airport in the taxi arranged for us by the hotel we had the most wonderful stay in Makarska. Our hotel room was a really spacious L-shaped room with a living area leading to the balcony. I always take my own shower gel as the standard in hotels sometimes isn't great but the bathroom and gym/Spa bathrooms/toilets were all stocked with a Rituals range so I didn't bother using my own. The room was cleaned to a very high standard every day with towels changed on a daily basis. There was always a good choice of continental breakfast items as well as egg options - the omelettes were especially delicious and the breakfast room was a lovely, peaceful area usually overseen by Mate. The pool area though not massive was big enough with comfy sunbeds and the towels supplied by the hotel could also be taken down to the beach. Hotel Ani is situated just a few minutes walk from the promenade and beach and about a 10 minute walk into the Old Town where we went each evening, visiting restaurants recommended by the hotel. We tended to stay by the pool during the day as the beach was very busy when we visited in August. The lovely Marijana & Dijana were always on hand to keep us hydrated with glasses of water (or serve us with alcoholic drinks later on in the afternoon!) The bar had a good selection of drinks & cocktails and very reasonably priced for a hotel. On our return each evening, Jure would always be waiting for us with a smile, ready to serve us with a drink if we wanted one and give me a glass of fresh milk to take up with me for my morning coffee. Hotel Ani really is a gem of a hotel made even more special by the staff who I've mentioned and also the ones I didn't manage to catch the names of.

Lovely hotel in beautiful Makarska, very close to the beach and also great for exploring Biokovo. The rooms were very clean and spacious. We enjoyed some great cocktails by the pool. The lady who works there is incredibly nice and helpful. Would totally recommend!

Breakfast quality could be improved a lot, it is not up to standard for otherwise such a great hotel. Throughout our stay, there was a really unpleasant sewage smell in our bathroom as well as in the sauna and jacuzzi area.

Everything was amazing (and we are very picky travellers). We appreciated breakfast, everything was spotless, soundproofing was great and we got a great nights sleep! This is a practically 5-star hotel.

- I wish AC would have been more effective. Room was a bit stuffy.. It was not really an issue though, but that is only thing that could be improved (also there is a small risk that we didn't know how to use AC.. :))

Pity there was no breakfast buffet which is understandable, but 2 1/2 weeks in Croaitia we have always had an buffet. But they did do the best and the food was good.

Hotel Ani was an amazing stay on the Croatian coast. Super new, excellent sunset view, lovely pool and incredible service! The team went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Highly recommended for anyone considering to visit Makarska.
