Peacefull location yet near to coastal attractions and lobsters! Even a midweek (rare) Maine Noreaster did not stop the fish from biting. A special thanks to the owner for her assistance when we had to repair our boat trailer. Good times and great views!

We had the most perfect week here! Janice was very friendly and accommodating and was very quick to respond to questions. The house is right by the water and PERFECT for little kids. Our boys were either in the water or digging on the beach the whole time, and we were able to have adult time on the lake while kids napped (it’s so close we could hear the baby monitor from the water). The porch was amazing for hanging out and grilling on in the evenings, and the fire pit was a huge bonus. Our trip was everything we could have asked for, we’re already looking forward to coming again next summer.

Excellent location on the lake. Dock handled our boating requirements easily. The cottage was clean, very well equipped, and comfortable. Janice, property owner, was wonderful and gracious. Our stay there was relaxing and fun.

We had such a wonderful vacation and Water’s Edge. Janice is a fantastic host and very thoughtful and kind. I arrived later than expected and she went back to the property to turn the lights on for me. The cottage is clean, cute and very welcoming. We instantly felt relaxed and at peace. The neighbors are friendly and the area is very private and peaceful. We really enjoyed swimming and grilling and making fires I. The evening. It was a great relaxing getaway and exactly what we need. Thanks so much Janice! We hope to return next year!

This is our second year in a row here. We truly love the property and the view. The easy access beach and cove make this a perfect getaway spot for us. Friendly neighbors and great kayaking with many different species of birds calling the lake home. It is a clean, well stocked summer cottage. Janice is a very hardworking host who responds well to issues. The updates she made since last season have helped brighten the camp and made our stay more enjoyable. Thank you so much!

We had such a great week at this property, and Janice was a great host. It's STEPS from the water, awesome beachy area that is great for kids. There is a nice dock for your boat, and the community launch is right there (and was completely unused during our stay)! It felt very private and quiet, and as long time Damariscotta lake people, it was really wonderful. Highly recommend!

Janice was a great host. When walking in I noticed right away that the place was deep cleaned very well. The location was great and if you needed and Janice was right there. The place was fully stocked and I would highly recommend coming back. Last I took my teenage kids to the beach for the day and they ask me to go back home that they would rather be back at the lake. This place was INCREDIBLE!!! The views, the location, the amenities. We watched the moon rise across the lake by the fire every night! Saw the sun rise in the morning. Just perfection. Kid friendly with the beach area and grass area as well. We had a 5 year old, 2 year old, and 10 month old and it was perfect! CAN NOT wait to stay next year! Janice was lovely and super responsive. We had a great time! Thank you so much to Janice for sharing this gem of a camp! We enjoyed exploring the lake with our kayaks and found the little cove a great place for our young daughter to play in the water and practice kayaking. The neighboring camps were full of friendly folks. The camp had all the amenities we hoped for, and was exactly as advertised. Our daughter enjoyed keeping track of the wildlife we encountered, from Eagles and Ospreys to the frogs she caught. We would definitely love to come back again! Thank you again!

This is the second time we’ve stayed at this property and the location can’t be beat. It is peaceful, relaxing, and the best beach area with great views of the lake. Janice is super responsive and we appreciated all the little thoughtful items in the cabin including kitchen gadgets, music, dvds, etc. Both our kids and our dogs loved the water and we had a hard time getting them out of it! Great long lake weekend!

My fiance and I (and our dog George) stayed for five nights at Janice's cottage. The setting is wonderful, in a cove with a private beach. The water is perfectly clear and the bottom is clean rocks and sand. Janice provided everything we needed in the kitchen, as well as everything we needed to paddle around and explore Damariscotta Lake. It was everything we were hoping for and can't wait to come back again sometime.

Our stay at the lake was very nice. You can't ask for a better spot. We like a simple lakeside experience and Janice's cottage provides all of the simple amenities. Her cottage is clean and comfortable and the property is well kept. You will be in close proximity to other cottages, which we were aware of having rented the same place before. But you should expect to interact with other people using the lake. Everyone was very pleasant.

I couldn’t have imagined a more relaxing week in a more peaceful setting. The lake is gorgeous and the cove is so quiet. Janice is such a friendly and helpful host.

I stayed with my 9 year old, 7 year old and 1 year old twins. It was perfect! The porch was great for the twins to push their walkers around. There was even a big paved area for them to also use. It really couldn't have been more kid friendly. The cove has a great wind break so my big kids could paddle around in the kayaks or canoe without being affected when the wind picked up. I enjoyed sitting outside after the kids were asleep and listening to the birds. Early mornings with coffee were equally great!

For two days my kids enjoy in the lake , the weather didn’t let us enjoy the rest the trip, but is very relaxing place

My family had a great vacation. Janice was wonderful to work with and was extremely responsive. Will be booking again in the future. The lake is stunning!!!!

Peaceful, restful location, cottage is just steps from private beach, lovely grass area for children to run and play, we we Post Dorian storm meant we were not blessed with great weather but we (grammie, 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren) still had a wonderful time: we talked, lounged, enjoyed the kayaks provided, had an outdoor fire, used the grill, fished, listened to loons, played board games, watched movies, colored, took a walk. Furnished with everything we needed for cooking. Nice large table for family meals: inside fireplace, 3 bedrooms are sized just right and decorated in a quaint homey cottage feel. On the day we left the sun made its first appearance and the sunrise was spectacular! Janice was lovely, and offered us late checkout. Simple clean pleasures!

Janice was very kind and helpful. When our car unexpectedly broke down, Janice let us stay without issue for an additional night. The cottage is rustic, but cute. It is equipped with anything you might need. The property sits right on the lake, and the views are wonderful. Our dogs loved swimming in the lake. We loved listening to the loons. We would recommend staying without hesitation

We had a great family getaway! Beautiful sunrises and the camp is only steps from the water. We will return :)

Janice was a wonderful host, even stopping in when we were struggling with the WiFi. Our family loved the kayaks and used them every day. We were in town for two quick days, from Michigan, for a wedding, and my 11 year old son is already trying to figure out how quickly we can get back for longer or how to convince us to retire to this lake. Enough cannot be said about the beauty and peacefulness of the lake! Thank you for a wonderful stay, Janice!

This was a small cabin that exceeded our expectations! The view was amazing and the walk out beach was perfect for our kids (one a toddler) and our dogs! We had access to a fire pit, deck, kayaks, a dock area, and a very cozy cabin area. The lake was clear and peaceful. Our favorite part was the view and the sunrise. A perfect getaway and we’d go back again!!

If you're reading this review because you're looking for a lake house in Maine please go no further with searching for a place to rent. Here's why: 1 - don't let the lower price scare you. You are getting A LOT for what you're paying for. 2 - the lake house is at the end of a dead end road (so no traffic) and is literally only 35 feet from the lake and is in a protected cove area which provides a sandy bottom, less wind and no choppy waves. And it still has an AMAZING view of the widest part of this big lake. Other reviews were not wrong when they said the sunrise was incredible. 3 - public boat launch for the property owners of the community is right there which is great if you want to bring or rent a boat. For the 4 days we were there only one boater came and even if more did, it's out of the way and won't be a bother. There are also 2 boat docks to fish off of or keep your boat there. 4 - I caught a 7" lake trout on my very first cast. They loved the bobber with worm or fake minnow! 5 - Every. Single. Person. I met was the nicest person! I met 3 neighbors and they all were big fans of Janice and were pleased to have us there. 6 - Everything worked with no issues! Grill worked amazing. Outdoor shower was a great touch. Inside faucets, shower and toilets all worked flawlessly. AC units were great during the day but not needed during the nights. We cooked breakfast of the stove every morning. Even the Wifi connected without an issue and was great to have along with the TV and cable, which again, worked with no issues. 7 - this place has all the furnishings you need and there was plenty of linen and the kitchen was very well stocked as well. You only really need to bring perishables to be honest. No dishwasher but cleaning our dishes was easy. 8 - canoe and 2 kayaks are there to use and were a great plus and Janice has over 5 life jackets in the cottage. 9 - firepit is perfectly located and we used it every single night. There is a residence up the road towards Damariscotta (maybe 3 minute drive) that sells bundles of dried hardwood for $5 and the bundles are generous (look for a sign on the lakeside of the road). 10 - Janice is great. Even her daughter helped carry my old dog when he was stugglng to get up a rocky embankment. She answered the message on the VRBO app and on her phone and was such a pleasure to deal with!!!!! DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS PLACE!!

We rented this house for a weekend wedding nearby, and we had a hard time getting the wedding party to get out of the lake so they could take part in the wedding! The house is simple but well equipped. The lake is yards from the back deck. In the morning you can watch eagles; in the evening you can hear the loons. We would love to come back for a longer stay!

I was a little skeptical with the lack of reviews but if you are too then rest assured you won’t regret booking here ! Janice is very sweet and helpful and she made our stay so easy. We have been visiting this lake with family for many years and this waterfront is one of the best on the lake mostly sandy and so sunny and open. Our puppy loves it here we would def book again. The cottage is also very clean ! Loved it

Been going to Damariscotta Lake for 58 years and have to say this is one of the best views on the lake. The cottage was comfortable with three bedrooms, a nice kitchen with all appliances, and a really nice family room with fireplace. The best part about it though is the owner Janice who could not have been nicer even delivering flowers during our stay. We liked it so much that we're going back next year for two weeks instead of one. Thanks again Janice for sharing your lovely cottage-on-the-lake with us!
