Beautiful historic place. The staff was amazing, food in the restaurant was great, beautiful swimming pool and grounds. The room was super nice with a balcony. Super welcome respite after our Mount Bromo trip. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Standard of maintenance in our room was disappointing: the AC control did not respond to changes even by hotel staff The USB ports did not work and had to be replaced A loose connection in a table lamp caused constant flickering TV remote not working- new batteries required. Individually these four issues are all small complaints but together suggest that maintenance is a weakness, particularly in view of the premium pricing of this hotel

Staying at the Hotel Mahajarit was blissful. We were only in Surabaya to break up the long train trip from Yogyakarta to the ferry terminal for Bali. Happily, we followed the advice of the rail guru, The Man in Seat 61, not to miss this place. Built in 1911 and richly historic, it’s a cool haven in the heart of the city. In an upgraded room, we could not have been more comfortable or appreciative of the value we were receiving. Public areas and the pool are maintained impeccably, and my traditional aromatherapy massage in the hotel spa was superb. The included breakfast buffet offers an extraordinary range of items, and the lunch and two dinners we ate in the hotel were delicious. Bravo to all the hard work to make the hotel function so well after so many years.

Beautiful classical location with perfect service by personal. Nice swimming pool and very comfortable bed. Will come back soon.

The adapter for electricity was not good, and replacement didn't help either. As the rest of Java doesn't have this problem, this was remarkable. But again the nice personnel helped out.

Fabulous historic hotel with lovely staff. Great meals (breakfast included, and we had dinner in the restaurant on two occasions). Well located. Loved the gardens, the space, everything really.

Toilet needs to ge cleaned more

very very very beautiful and location is superb. Tunjungan Plaza and local market call Pasar Genteng is walking distance. Breakfast is good, you will get everything you need in the bathroom. There’s coffee maker, SDB and refrigerator. The standard room is huge.

the power plug is UK/G type, not Indonesian standard. But, you can borrow the adaptor at front office. Swimming poll is at the hidden area

Beautiful heritage hotel, with delightful gardens, kind and attentive staff. Very good breakfast. Huge room with a marble bathroom. Comfortable bed, great shower-all the amenities! This is the Raffles Singapore experience without the price tag. Don’t stay anywhere else in Surabaya.

so unique to go back in time and stay at a piece of history. There is so much history at the hotel, it was so fun to learn. the breakfast was soo good (especially if you like Indonesian food). the hotel was very quiet despite being on a busier street. we loved our stay.
