I truly cannot say enough good things about Lua Villas and the Playa Hermosa area. We stayed for one week in Villa Mar as a family of 4 with boys age 10, 14 and had the best time. Initial communication with Sofia at the time of booking was immediate and she became an invaluable asset to our time in the area. Any questions I had or bookings I needed, Sofia took care of immediately. She was my angel. Lua Villas is a group beautifully designed and decorated villas surrounded by tropical foliage with a centrally located pool that became our oasis during the heat of the day. We rented Villa Mar which was the perfect size for our family of 4 with a full kitchen, living room, twin bedroom and an upstairs suite with a King bed. The bathroom was large and beautiful with a private opening to the outside. The beach was just a short walk through a jungle trail that my kids nicknamed "the monkey jungle". Such a treat to hear and see the howler monkeys in the trees, just watch your head for thrown mangos! Once you arrive at the beach, be prepared to have your breath taken away. The beach, especially at lower tide was spectacular, huge and not crowded at all. Everyone at the beach was there to surf and the surf was perfect. I loved it because my husband could surf the bigger waves, myself the medium and my kids the small ones. I never worried about my kids in the water and we spent many hours enjoying its warmth. We went to the beach and played every evening to watch the most amazing sunsets! Playa Hermosa was just what we were looking for. Very quiet, not many people, two awesome restaurants (TP8 and Cafe Coulour) and one small grocery store. You can grab a surf board from Sofi or at the local surf shop if needed. We decided to rent a car and were glad we did. Santa Teresa is a must see with the bustling town and fabulous restaurants. We really loved returning 'home" to our quiet villa after dinner in Santa T. If you are looking for a quite oasis this is it!

Great villas and nice pool. We had a small kitchen in our place which was great. The location is next to a beach access with an easy walk. There is a small local restaurant and convenience store close by. In general, playa Hermosa is a bit far from all the restaurants of santa Teresa but it's great spot to relax that is quieter. Beach is super nice. Good surfing too.

Beautifully presented property, peacefully set amongst verdant tropical gardens and just a moments walk to stunning Hermosa. The staff were extremely welcoming and the each Villa is extremely private.

stunning plant life, lovely villas with everything we needed just a short walk from the beach. Everything was kept super clean and our hosts were always available to help. Rented surfboards and ATVs and had yoga classes onsite. Hermosa is further away but the beach is the most beautiful and one of the greatest surf beaches in THE WORLD

All the staff were really lovely, the property was well maintained, and the location was great. Excellent facilities and so awesome to be able to make ourselves a coffee in the morning. The place felt secure, and the pool and yoga/exercise space was awesome! It’s worth repeating - the pool space was amazing!

There wasn’t enough shelf space to unpack our bags and there were no hooks, inside or outside, to hang anything other than our bath towels. We wanted to hang beach towels, swim suits, and rash guards etc but there was nowhere to do so. Yes, it’s the little things that matter but we would still return.

The hosts were amazing. The Sofia and Lucia were so helpful in making restaurant recommendations and things to see and do. The property was beautiful, very secluded and the beach was just steps away. Definitely would visit again!!

The property was super clean and in real good state. The swimming pool and yoga area were super nice. It was amazing to wake up with this property as you “garden”. We really enjoyed our stay. Lucia also gave us a lot of information about possible activities and she organised a surf lesson which was really nice!

We had really bad weather which made it hard to get through Santa Teresa. but this was not really something specific to Lua Villas

the stuff was very friendly!! its very close to the beautiful beach; the appartement got cleaned every day; the amazing plants and little garden was amazing! the pool was veeery nice too :-) !! also to go surfing its perfect - 3min. walk to the beach to check the waves. Lua Villas is really amazing - if you get there - you will love it :-)

The property itself is nice, the pool is great and rooms are large. Good internet.

The access to the property is incredibly difficult (no road, only tracks with large rocks and holes), access to the beach through jungle mud roads (don’t go in flip flops!), lack of culinary options around and no service available at the property.

The pool is nice and refreshing. Place is good desgined, and green and plants everywhere. Bed is good and kitchen well equiped to cook. Room is large enough and separate bedroom is nice. Staff is helpfull when they are there and housekeeping can even do laundry as a big plus.

The rooms at the groundlevel are dark, since there are quite some plants around the house. This means you need the lights on all the time. Even on your own outside patio. Further the room up is in direct contact with your house. This means you hear every step, movements and so on from your neighbours. Moreover the staff has limited hours and even while availbile through phone, this feels a bit less 'warm'. While booking this place, these factors made it not really value for money and the stay was not as we expected it (from the pictures, relax and natural light in your room).

Sophia and the sweet cat Lua was the best part of the stay. I loved that it was super close to a GORGEOUS beach.

The villas are MUCH older than the photos and copy on the website depict them as. I like complete authenticity and transparency so I know what to expect when I arrive. Would be more honest to update the photos on the website (and other places) with the current look and feel of the place.

The distance from the main area where the restaurants and bars are. The road leading to the property from the “city center” is in bad condition so you have to go very slow. No TV if you’re into that. I’d like to see more modern outlets for wireless charging and USB-C ports.

Lua Villas was great. Very clean, quiet and relaxing. Our hotel staff Lucia was great too! Pizza/Pasta/Wine place next door-Fantastic! otherwise its a 10 minute drive to town for dinner.

The beach was further than expected. It was about a 10 minute walk through dirt roads and trails. I do not imagine this would be too bad during the dry season, but we were there in June at the start of the raining season, so the walk was through thick mud (the beach however was beautiful and great surf). Wet towels - So we were there in June (very humid). Our bathroom towels and pool towels were wet. Even though hung outside, would not dry. We asked for new towels and were told new towels would only be provided every other day. So a suggestion - Our towels were not dirty, they were wet. If there were a dryer available, I would have dried them and used them for the entire stay. It is a small location. one dryer would suffice all guests.
