Very cute dog, good location and cost

The guesthouse was really welcoming and had everything we needed. The location was perfect for a weekend in Hakone with a beautiful view into the mountains. Breakfast in the little common area was perfect for a day exploring and the dog made it feel so homely. Would highly recommend

Hakone Guesthouse Toi is a beautiful small Hostel in the middle of the mountain and Onsen region Hakone. We only stayed there for 1 night because we had to move on but we would have loved to stay for longer. The region around the hostel ist gorgeous and you can find a lot of Onsen in the region. The Hostel is easily reachable via train or bus with bus and train stations only a few minutes away. It is small but that makes it so Charmful. Everything was very clean and the room was great and comfortable! There is free tea and water and you can even buy a delicious breakfast and some dishes like Ramen as well as drinks for very good money. The hostel does provide anything you need for a pleasant stay in Hakone. It even has a small Onsen which is free. The hosts are super friendly, kind and helpful and even provide you with tips for the region like good Onsen spots. We also got a lot of awesome recommendations for our next destinations throughout Japan. And last but not least: Their dog is so cute and adorable.

Hotels are expensive in Hakone, this is one of the least expensive places. It is clean, the staff are friendly and the dog is clean and friendly. It is plenty adequate for a few nights. Family room is surprisingly large.

There are few food options in the area and all of them are on the expensive side. It is on a hill so you are going to be going up some pretty steep hills. Only one bus route goes to this hostel. The "Onsen" is a small tub in a small, dark room. Some train noise.

The staff was great. The place was comfy and just what we needed.

I had such a lovely stay! The owner was very friendly and his dog is very cute. Great value for money and the bar is lovely. Hakone is an amazing place - make sure to go to the Open Air Museum!

Great little spot in Hakone, close to the bus stop. Staff were friendly and helpful, the bar was great and Ramu, the dog, is wonderful. Onsen was lovely to relax in, only big enough for one person at a time though. Towels and Toiletries are not included but they provide these for a cheap price ¥100. Very good value for money.

The guest house is right next to the train like do it can be loud. My room didn't have curtains so was it bright in the morning. The room has air-conditioning and heating but I was cold. The toilet and shower are located in the main building, so it's a bit annoying having to go outside in the night but very affordable and a small place.

poor heat insulation, poor noise insulation. I was assigned to stay in annex, which has no shower.

This hostel was a nice little get a way from the city! The view is stunning, the staff is very kind and accommodating, there is a super cute doggy there named Ram, and it was overall a very warm and inviting experience! Met some cool people in the common area where the cafe and bar is and the onsen was a nice addition I used every day! Would definitely recommend to others looking for a cozy and very affordable stay!

This was the best stay I ever had, the guest house looks so comfy and the owner is very friendly and helpful. We even watched soccer together 10/10

The price was excellent, the staff were friendly.

The location of the bathroom being disjointed from where the rooms are is a little inconvenient, especially when the weather was getting colder.

It’s a little off the beaten path for what we were doing.

The staff was nice. The place feels peaceful. The place is nice for traveling on a budget. If you go by public transport, there are two bus (one included on Hakone Free Pass and another local bus) around 2 minutes away by walking distance that connects with the main train station and touristic spots on the area.

The walls are thin, so you may hear the neighbors room (in our case it was ok as people were silent in general).

The Hostel is very good located of you want to enjoy the Nature. Bus station and 7 eleven is a 5 Minute walk far away. You can start some hikes directly from the hostel! The atmosphere in the Hostel is great! Small but lovely Bar/Common room! Staff ist amazing. They helped me to Plan Trips and i Had a great time at the Hostel. BBQ in the evening was amazing! I will come again !
