We celebrated our 10th anniversary at one of the royal villas. We enjoyed everything, from breakfast to dinner, and completely disconnected from electronics. Our daughter spent hours in the swimming pool, and we also indulged in the spa services, which offered a wonderful experience with a beautiful river view.
The doors were not completely closed, leaving gaps that allowed small creatures like lizards to enter the suite.

The property is very beautiful and clean there are a lot of activities possible nearby. You get a refreshing welcome drink at check in. Nyoman our waterfall tourguide of the alam was so friendly and showed us around the ricefields and the jungle. we really recommend the restaurant there speaking as a dining expert. try ceviche and the bebek goreng. With Made we had always the choice between many breakfast maindishes. and as you enjoy breakfast there is a nice man playing relaxing live music. the massages are powerful and relaxing. also try the floating breakfast but check the weather first for the next day! the staff was always helpfull and open to any wishes, in the end of our stay Nilam got us a refreshing goodbye drink.
perfect for a honeymoon, in fact it wasn‘t our honeymoon.
greetings from switzerland and australia.

The place itself was beautiful. Rooms were massive, big comfy firm beds and very clean. We had a private infinity pool looking out over the jungle. We were delighted when we checked in
Cracks started to show when my husband went down to use the communal area to work. There were no working plugs anywhere and the staff were very unhelpful. He asked about cocktails later and after a bit of confusion they said maybe later on they could make one or two different ones they were trialling. For the price you expect someone to know how to make a cocktail. We had one and it was juice and vodka. We had multiple minor issues that were eventually fixed but the staff (although friendly) had no idea what they were doing and need some training for the level of service you expect out of a $800/night resort. The restaurant and main pool area was quiet and strange. Had no vibe just wasn't a place you felt like spending much time. Dinner from the restaurant was expensive, tiny and average to terrible. Breakfast was just OK. The first night we had a leak in our room - they offered to move us but the kids were already asleep so just mopped it up with towel. The second night it rained a lot harder and several other leaks showed up - some over the bed which meant we had to change rooms. The leaks aren't new you can tell by the state of the ceiling so they need to be fixed before you charge people to stay in there.

Beautiful villa, amazing staff, we had lovely time there.

Well maintained property with proper cleaning and room service. The villa was phenomenal, very luxurious and spacious with a great pool. The staff were fantastic.
Location can be a bit difficult to find/navigate. This is not prohibitive but a consideration for travellers who are travelling by scooter or foot.

The view was amazing. Calming down after busy Ubud. The pool was very gorgeous. The bathroom was huge and very clean and smelled good.
The stairs but thats something you need to accept for staying in the jungle and getting an amazing view. The breakfast was huge but could be improved maybe with some cereals and yoghurt. The second pool (river pool) should be closed because of the placement and need of water. Nobody visited it. It seemed very abandoned.

Very nice view on amazing tropical forest, friendly stuff
Lunch box very weak - one peace of toast bread and two eggs??? Instead breakfast at the property was tasty.

We checked into Alam Ubud villas past 6.30 pm on the 18th of December 2022 so it was difficult to understand the villas exact condition.
Little did I know the villas needed urgent maintenance. We had a shower & had dinner brought to the villa. After this we walked downstairs near the pool and as I leaned on the balcony to listen to the jungle the balustrade collapsed dropping me more than 30 meters down the cliff !
It took rescuers more than 3 hours to rescue me & I suffered Multiple fractures & 6 broken spines. I spent 10 days in ICU in bali. Underwent 3 major surgeries all because Alam Ubud was irresponsible & negligent in their maintenance. The hotel lied to the papers about us swimming in the pool at night & later they apologized.
I had to request multiple times for the owners to finally come to the hospital.
All travellers please be advised! The hotel claimed they have NO International insurance & offered a compensation less than 10% of my medical bills which amounted to 85000 USD in bali.
Not only is it outrageous the hotel claimed to have no international insurance but it highlights the run-down and unsafe conditions of Hotel Alam Ubud. The fact that they are not adequately insured is a clear indication of their lack of concern for their guests' safety and well-being.
Alam Ubud your Negligence & lack of maintenance has caused me life long phsyical injuries & you showed no remorse for your actions . Your lack of empathy & compassion was disgraceful when I was injured as you showed no compassion towards my suffering. I truly hope justice will take its course. Three months has passed & I am still undergoing treatment & rehabilitation in hospital due to choosing to holiday in your villas!

The View from the main restaurant and the main pool was amazing. The location is in the heart of green fields, a lot of rice fields, and amazing individual villas.
When we requested to exchange our villa, they were really nice and didn't hesitate to shift us to another one, even if we already slept one night in the first villa.
The private villa with the private pool is amazing, you have literally full privacy and an amazing terrace where you can just enjoy the sounds of the jungle and the surroundings.
The water in the main pool was really clean, and the temperature in the pool also was just perfect.
There was a little language barrier, but we managed to sort it out.
Also, there were kind of many insects/ants in the room, but that's normal for that part of Bali, I assume. We still managed to have a comfortable sleep.
The breakfast was with limited options, and kinda boring, having only 2 or 3 options to choose from.
There was a very nice 2nd pool, at the bottom of the resort, but there the water wasn't very clean, and the facilities next to it were missing, but the location was amazing, with a nice river next to it.
The only thing, which we didn't like that much, is that they haven't proposed to us specific activities in the area, and no travel packages were offered by the hotel. Maybe that was due to the language barrier.

perfect location to get away from the crowds. We booked a tour through them and it was very good I would ask for Wayan for your guide.
it is isolated so you can not walk anywhere.

Hotel is in a great location, away from the busy hectic area of central ubud but not to far to get to central. Situated in the jungle you get a fantastic true nature experience.
Staff are very friendly, we did yoga by the riverside & also walked/took a scooter to the local village & amazing waterfalls.
Our private pool & villa was lovely, rooms were always cleaned well. we also had floating breakfast in the main pool which was a lovely experience.

Lovely spacious villas, amazing view. Staff were nice and breakfast was good.
No shuttle to ubud center or main road, as it’s not really walkable to reach the main road and we Gad to keep waiting for taxi as we don’t drive scooter. We asked for a boxed breakfast as we were going on an early tour and they couldn’t put anything together for us, which usually every hotel provides. Pool was dirty on the side walls and the hight isn’t good for a nice picture, there should be some different levels. Lots of mosquitoes and other insects.

I liked the tranquility of the villa in which I was. The villa was spacious and its interiors very nice. The pool had a view of the forest. Alam workers always were so Kind with us.
Some places in the villa need maintenance, such as the stair railings that were infested with termites.
4.2
The staff were outstanding, they were super friendly and attentive. The food was mainly local cuisine but was good and reasonably priced. The Royal suite was huge and had a really comfortable bed, lovely bathroom with a bath and private outdoor area with a pool. It was very tranquil.
We had a few problems which were solved by the staff quickly. The location was about a 30/40 minute drive from the centre of Ubud and it was fairly easy to get a Grab. We understand it is situated in the rainforest but there was evidence animals had been in our room which made us feel uneasy.

beautiful surroundings, lovely room and beautiful people.
maybe just distance from Ubud centre if anything but no big deal

We been staying in private pool Villa Arjuna for 3 nights and later 3 nights inVilla Bima 5.
(also saw but didnt stayed in the Villa Bima 6, that villa is with tree inside the room, but have lower ceiling and not so spacios, but the balcony is nice)
The Arjuna Villa is the best!
This Villa has the most beautiful private pool, sunshine comes full up about 11am and you can be naked in the villa area enjoying the sunshine and nobody will see you or disturb you. Haha. :)
The pool water been refreshing, not too much fluoride in it. We liked this aspect very much.
Because normally hotels pools are so smelly with that chemicals.. But not this one :)
Bed is huge and very comfortable.
by the way not so many stairs from Arjuna to the top - restaurant, lobby.
The Villa Bima 5 don't have private pool, but still feels private enough, even though you can see another villas downstairs. The room is similar, but bed were smaller than in Arjuna Villa.
And have more steps to the top (restaurant, lobby)
In fact both villas were amazing, romantic, private and spacious with lovely jungle view and sounds.
This hotel is so authentic, the staff was kind and was trying their best to make us enjoy our stay.
Breakfast was good and tasty, even though we are vegetarian and not plenty choice. Spanish omlet was my favorite for breakfast. It looks like mini pizza.
The wifi in this hotel is really good.
Free yoga on tuesdays, just need to register one day before.
We realy liked the free bicycle the hotel provides for guests!
This was one of the highlights for this hotel.
There is amazing waterfall near, about 10min driving, and there are signs from hotel so it was easy to find it. The entrance fee to waterfall is 10.000 Rp per person.
Was lovely day trip. If you go there, dont stop by first waterfall, just keep going steps up the other side, there were one more waterfall, and even lovely rice terrace with warm local workers.
Sorry, but the coffe was awful.. I am barista, so i can be just clingy about that, but for my taste this coffe was the worst i have tasted in Bali so far.
The food and drink price was expensive like we expected :D
In fact you can buy more tasty salad in locals restaurant (we were lucky to find some local restaurants driving bicycles in this area)
10.000rp in local place very tasty salad
70.000rp here, just good looking but not very tasty..
This note is not so much about this hotel i think,
more about Bali itself.
the tourist restaurants is very expensive, compared with the simple places local people eat, but the food quality is similar. Maybe somebody is intrested in knowing non touristic Bali, so i will just leave this message here..

beautiful views
Despite difficult circumstances (we stayed at the property on our last night in Bali while trying to figure out a way to fly back to Europe amid coronavirus chaos), the staff wasn't very accommodating -- we asked for a check out to be delayed for 3 hours so we can at least shower before 20 hrs long flight. The fee they asked for would cover a full night stay at a hotel closer to the airport so we just left. Not flexible at all, don't expect them to show a human face even in tough times.

The staff are all delightful, and the location - secluded and quiet - was exactly what we were looking for. The bed was very comfortable and the room was luxuriously large, with an awesome terrace/balcony and bath.
We had many 'little but annoying' problems at the hotel, such as: Many ingredients were not in stock in the bar, limiting the drinks that were available. We had several small items missing from our room - and only one of these items was replaced after we informed reception of these missing items. Our first shuttle into/out of Ubud town was a huge disappointment after the driver failed to turn up at the agreed return time. We waited for 45 minutes and had to call twice before the shuttle finally arrived. There was a pair of lady's underwear in our room (on bathroom shelves) as we checked in, and we received a strange 7am phone call from reception one morning, on which the caller simply hung up without apology or explanation. Once again, these are all small issues, but they did happen a bit too frequently for us to say we would unequivocally recommend the resort.
