Positive points - Easy free parking Clean well appointed rooms except that the shower drain needed cleaning as it filled the room with a bad odour Good reception staff Friendly chatty restaurant staff Good , well priced quality food at breakfast- my avocado and poached eggs on rye was exceptional
Negative points- My fish and chips was oven ready Tesco style - I would pay more for better My friend's steak was tiny and not appetising -at £14.50, then again, it is cheap! Under staffed bar - I waited 30 minutes for a beer to be served due to very young girl who tried her best but had never run a bar - she didn't know what a "bitter beer" was. The lager beers I had were all were all flat and past their best It does suffer from plane noise due to it's location near Stansted - however the planes are at 2200 feet when approaching so weren't ear-splitting Kona coffee on warm plate at breakfast was bitter and disgusting - I had to ask the bar staff to give me a coffee that was drinkable

Great staff. Sam was very professional and helpful. The room was comfortable.
We booked bc it was close to Stansted for an early am flight. Massive mistake. An Uber dropped us off after we arrived at Stansted, but we nearly missed our flight bc no Ubers would pick us up at 6.30am the next morning. We had no idea the village was so small & so far ( for public transport/uber) from Stansted.

Our room in main building was nice, our friends in outbuilding werent so pleased. Location in a beautiful village. Free parking.
Meal was overcooked and 2 came together then other 2 10 mins after
Breakfast was ok had to go to ask for cutlery and then coffee as there was no-one dedicated to the area, maybe understaffed on the day we visised

The staff were really nice and friendly.
The temperature of the room was ridiculously hot. Staff aware that room is hot. But nothing they can do about it, they suggested next time don't stay in room 3.

A great spot to stay for the heritage live gigs at audley end house. About 25 mins away via taxi

The location was perfect for a night before an early flight. Parking was free and only 15-20mins drive from Stansted airport.
The surroundings were beautiful and we went for a short walk. This isn't really possible at an airport hotel, and we were happy with our choice
Be aware that booking.com lists some rooms as having a bath, this might not be the case once you get there.
Don't go here for the food. It's not terrible but it's not amazing either. It will do its job if you are hungry which we were, but if we stay here another time we might go somewhere else for dinner.

The reception staff Amelia and Rebecca were very helpful in enabling us to get an earlier check in for a wedding which was really appreciated. The cleaners were also friendly and helpful.. We felt very welcome.

Food was excellent. Room was spacious and clean.
The gamble that you can park in the car park and if no space then a 10 point turn to get back out followed by an impossible turn into the adjacent side road to get down to the public car park down the hill. Then the slog back up the hill with all ones stuff!! Only to find when you get back that a parking space has appeared!! Such is life!!
Oh and don't forget to duck as the planes fly over on their way to and from Stanstead and when not listening to the planes, then enjoy the church chimes!

Room refurb is great - we have used this place before for family as we live across the road. However, the room key fobs did not work at night so 3 couples were locked out. The on call member of staff did not respond to the calls. Our 4th member of the family had to get dressed and come down to let them in. This was not good.
In addition we had booked a dinner table for the Friday evening for family (the table upstairs). We booked this in person, and checked up in person that it would be available. However when we got there at 7.30 on Friday 24th Jan the table had not been reserved for us. This is incredibly disappointing and puts off local customers. Very sad.

Kind staff and very good location if you want to be close to the airport.
Check in and check out very easy for early hours travellers.
The room was very cold and I had to turn on the radiator, as it was off. The room never got warm during the night.
The room was a bit noisy too from people walking in the corridor.

The staff were friendly and very helpful, the food was very nice and was very reasonable. It was very close to other places around. There were good sights to see close by.
Highly recommended.
I will definitely be booking there again.
Being close to standsted Airport, you did get the noise from aircraft landing, but this won't stop me from staying here again
