Despite assurances that cleaners had been in and cleaned prior to our arrival, the property was really dirty and inhabitable - we had to seek out alternative accomodation.

The livingroom was basically heated by a wood stove, but the woodshed was empty. The design of the room leads to all the heat rising up into the upper bedrooms. A ceiling fan may help.

We had a great stay and will definitely be back we did have a issue on the first night which Georgie sorted out straight away and the rest of our stay was exactly what we needed. Perfect quiet location with plenty of wildlife to watch.

The house was in the perfect location, private, close to town & the beautiful Grampians. Very clean , comfortable & the dog loved it. Would return!

Accomodation was perfect for our family catch up. Plenty of together time, but room to spread out too. Thanks so much!

Warm cozy cabin atmosphere with fully equipped kitchen and creature comforts. Very comfortable and sizeable for huge groups too

14 of us came for Adelaide on our bikes to explore the Grampians the house was beyond expectations the outside fire pit was unreal the house was better than the listing thank you very much had a great weekend

Property close to main road but feels remote. Kids learnt how to build a fire, played board games provided by hostess with their cousins. We all enjoyed the wild life nearby. Property close to zoo and many walking tracks. We will book this property again in the future. Hostess Georgie was very pleasant and always answered any quieries we had via email in real time. Kids loved going spotlighting at night investigating wildlife.

We were 2 families staying for 4 nights. 5 adults, 3 kids (12, 13 & 15 years) & 2 dogs.
The house can accommodate 15 people so there was lots of space for everyone. If you needed to work or down time, you could find somewhere. If you wanted the group together there is indoor & outdoor space. We saw plenty of kangaroos jumping by during our stay which was wonderful. The location is down a remote private road off the highway but very close to Halls Gap central. You can walk to a great coffee shop just down the road & there is a bottle shop & restaurant walkable at Halls Gap Hotel.
A few things which could be done to improve the stay: the pool table isn’t straight so difficult to use. The dishwasher wasn’t able to run on full wash, only 1/2 wash. It had a great coffee machine but no coffee whc wld have been nice.
Overall a great stay & we had a great time!

The presentation of the property was disappointing. On entry to the house, we were greeted with a very offensive odour that never disappeared completely. Also the carpet was extensively stained and infront of the heater it had many burnt spots which would bring into question the safety/installation of the heater. Also the fridge and pantry had to be wiped clean before our food could be placed in it. A dusting of many items in the house was also needed and a top sheet for all bedding would have been an appreciated option. Unfortunately the immediate outside areas to socialize, including tables and chairs were in need of a good clean, especially the BBQ hotplates and steel cabinets. This limited our use of it.
We suspect that there is a long term water leak in the upstairs bathroom as is evident on the exposed beams on the ground floor. Inspite of this, the overall facilities were great, electric appliances very good and we did enjoy our holiday and the visiting wildlife.

Tranquil, relaxing environment .
We especially enjoyed the outdoor seating around the fire pit.
The layout of the family home was very accommodating to a large group of friends with several different seating areas.
Over our 5 day stay we explored the Grampians in depth

The house was very spacious and well suited to our extended family, from grandmother to teens. Plenty of spaces to relax in
The location was great as it was quiet and surrounded by a nice garden with good out door spaces. Loved the fire pit and garden settings
A few things could do to be fixed. The pool table wasn’t even, the balls rolled to one corner which disappointed the teenagers. The filter on the dish washer hadn’t be cleaned in a long time so dish washer didn’t was properly until we cleaned the filter.
The sliding door from dining area to outside needs fixing
We struck really hot weather and we would have appreciated top sheets and blankets for better temperature control
The property manager responded to the faulty fire alarm which needed a new battery.
It would be good if there was an easier way to contact Stayz as we had difficulties probably partly due to poor reception but also because the messaging through the website kept bouncing back.

Love that there is space for everyone. So tranquil. Love that there is wood for the fire.

We had a great time here. Plenty of room, outdoor fire, indoor fire and a great outdoor bbq area. Great location only 3k's from Halls Gap but in a beautiful bush setting away from the tourist mayhem. The only downside was the coffee drinkers in our group couldn't use the coffee machine as there were no coffee beans, even though the webpage said there would be beans available. Not a big deal for the non coffee drinkers though.

The house was perfect for our need, two families with 6 children from 6-16. The separate living area upstairs with the big couch and TV was perfect for keeping the kids occupied and made use of the fully set up seating area around the fire pit outside. Each morning saw kangaroos grazing and on one day 2 fighting right outside our windows! Property is amazing and fully equipped with pretty much everything we deeded. Highly recommend, would stay again!

Our stay at the retreat was everything we wanted (and needed!!) in a holiday.
The house is beautiful, and so homely. We felt very comfortable, and it definitely had everything that we needed.
It is such a gorgeous area, and our kids were so excited to watch the kangaroos bounce around the house. We loved the open green space, and the chance to take a break.
Communications with Georgie were excellent, she was fast to respond, and extremely helpful.
I would definitely recommend this property, it really was an amazing getaway.

The place exceeded all the expectations. Watching Kangaroos and Emus in the front yard in the morning while having breakfast was a memorable experience. Definitely will be a first choice next time. Definitely recommend this place.

4 siblings and their kids came to remember our mum and dad who met in Halls Gap at a Christian camp about 65 years ago. It was a beautiful connecting time and we so enjoyed the fire outside.. but the whole deal was just amazing.

Peaceful, not far from town. Lots of space for entertaining inside or outside with plenty of seating. Lovely to be able to watch and listen to the wildlife from inside or outside. Games to entertain the kids. Quiet areas to sit and read.
The grandkids wanted to stay longer.
Would love to return, but would do a bigger food shop before hand due to expensive grocery store, and eating more back at the retreat.

Perfect home base for our Grampians hiking trip in a great location. Plenty of living spaces to wind down after our hikes and very clear instructions on using the many amenities. Great communication from Georgie to ensure things went smoothly, particularly when we forgot some items after checking out! Recommended hosts and location.

It’s like this house was transplanted from Eltham to Halls Gap.
Mud brick, internal brick walls, exposed beams, cathedral ceilings open plan living areas - just like being at home lol.
It’s a shame there were only five of us (and a dog) - there was room for ten more people 🐶

Hi Georgie,
thanks for letting us stay there. We were pleased that there was plenty of firewood and it was very comfortable place in lovely surroundings. However feedback from group wanted to let you know there was no soap for the showers, no paper towelling or coffee beans as advertised. Some instructions on how to use some of the kitchen items would have been helpful. Also your toaster is a bit wonky- people were putting the bread in the toaster that had no spring and it would get stuck! Apart from that we had a great time. So thanks again!

Lovely location and setting, an interesting house, well suited for family holidays with heaps of space in garden and separate living / recreation areas in the house. A group of 4 seniors, we visited in coldest week of the year, and after 1st day, the house was pretty comfortable, even downstairs.
The amenities list could be improved by stating that there are 3 double rooms and two bunk rooms with single beds only, and could also mention there is only one bedroom downstairs.
Providing a welcome pack might have saved time and angst, and could include how to operate the various amenities.
Mobile network coverage in the area is very patchy, mostly only consistent out in the garden, but it is a country setting. Wifi was good.
The garden area was a delight with kangaroos, birds galore and even a couple of wayward deer to be seen. Children would love it, plenty of space.
Overall, a nice property.

A home we would book again. Children loved the pool table. Lots of walks a short drive away. Halls Gap a two minute drive away too.

Lovely location & peaceful surroundings. House was large enough to accommodate all 15 of us comfortably. Outdoor fire pit was great to sit around & pass the night away.

We were three adults (one elderly), four teenagers, one child and two dogs. Everybody had space and entertainment. Lovely walks, good location. James was very helpful answering our questions. There is no fence, but a small compound with shade if you need to leave a dog for a while. We had hoped for a fence, but after seeing so many kangaroos, were were really glad there isn't one. Everything we needed.

Great for our large family group. House has all you need for a big gathering (we were 15) Heaps of space inside - heaps of space outside to run and explore. A good value for money house in great natural surroundings. Thanks James.

We used Wisteria as a base for day trips and hikes throughout the Grampians. It’s close to Halls Gap and walking distance to the Halls Gap Pub. The house had adequate space for two families and it was an overall comfortable place to stay. The kitchen could do with a few baking trays and the pool table wasn’t the best I’ve played on. I would recommend the property.

This house is very comfortable with many bedrooms to accommodate a large group of people. Although not far out of town it is serene and quiet, and has a lovely door fire pit to be enjoyed.

This house is huge and would be very suitable for groups of people or a few families. The beds were comfortable, and the setting was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the log fire and the local wildlife that visited. A great place to stay!
