Staff were friendly. The pool and hanging lounger were very comfortable. Shared bathroom and kitchen were clean. Garden looks very nice, and it is well maintained.
I stayed in a fale which was a bit noisy at night as often things from the nearby tree fall on its roof.
No pool towel was provided. Guests have to use their indoor, white towel when they were using the outdoor pool, this was encouraged by staff, but it was not practical. Furthermore, the late afternoon/evening staff wanted to charge me extra money when I wanted to get a clean towel after one day using my indoor towel outside.

The staff were lovely. Room was comfortable. We asked for a garden room with own bathroom.
Room had air conditioning thank goodness 😃. A pool and breakfast was perfect 👌.

The staff were lovely and the place was very clean. The pool facilities are nice and breakfast was great too. We didn’t have a car and walked into town without any problem - maybe a 30 minute walk one way. Reception helped us by booking a shuttle for us to the airport on a Sunday - this saved us time and money, thanks heaps! There was also hot water - yay!
There is no beach nearby so it’s better to have a car or hire a taxi to get around.

Breakfast was varied. The vegetarian option was good - I received an omelette. More fruit would be good.
The juice is more cordial-like. I had my own teabags.
The downstairs room was spacious and clean. After being out for several hours, it was nice to return and see my room had been cleaned and they had put the air conditioner on. The air conditioner worked well and was quiet.
The hot water was a hit or miss. I stayed 3 nights and one shower was nice and warm. It was good to have a shower head, rather than a spout, however!
Upstairs movement during the night disturbed my sleep one night. Lots of people moving around at midnight.
The sheets are rather thin and need replacing. The pillows were hard. The bed cover is old and unattractive - it didn’t suit the Samoan vibe and colourful nature of the people and island at all.

After the first night in a fale I asked for another room and they moved me inside to a larger family room. It was a great room.
The road noise can get a bit much. It's ok if you are on a stop gap but if you are there to explore Samoa and like a bit of peace it's best to request a quiet positioned room.

The staff were friendly. The breakfast was awesome and we were impressed. Having a pool was really good too. The rooms were acceptable for our short visit and were clean and tidy. The hotel suited us for a two night stay. The staff was what made our stay great. Thank you.
The hotel was ok for our needs. However, I found the noise coming from the gym across the road made it hard to relax in our room. Others may not be bothered by it. The lack of parking and having to park our rental car on the road was a bit of a concern as the hotel is on a corner of two busy roads.

Lovely place to stay in Apia. Clean rooms, friendly and extremely helpful staff. Good food. You are well looked after. Without the help of the Outrigger staff we would have had a hard time getting transport to Lalomanu on a Sunday. They stepped in when our pre organised travel failed and at a good price. Very much appreciated!

Nice House, Garden and Pool, well kept. Excellent breakfast, Very friendly staff. But, if you are sensitive to noise (dogs and roosters all night), bring earplugs. And if you need it cool at night, take an aircon room downstairs.
To many rules, Stickers erverywhere.

Loved loved the breakfast! It was amazing and different each day. Lovely gardens and gorgeous foyer. Staff were so friendly and helpful.
We had the garden sale and I thought this might not work for us. But it was fine and quite cool. The mosquito nets kept any bugs away so we were happy.
Lovely pool but we were too busy to use it!
Very nice cafes and restaurants within very easy walk.
Highly recommend the Samoan Cultural Village - it was fantastic and I did not expect to see people being tattooed the traditional way so close up. Plus we each wove our own eating bowls. That alone was worth the 10 tala to me.
Nothing really.

Loved our stay so much that we will be coming back, it was clean , welcoming and your staff were amazing throughout our staff and always available to accommodate us if we needed anything. Your rooms were clean and bathrooms were maintained throughout the day. We loved the wake up sound of the roosters in the morning and the breakfast was delicious. Exceeded our expectations and were very impressed with our short stay.
Just our room had a fan and no air-con, that was my fault I didn’t read the room booking correctly. I hope the upstairs rooms can have air-con soon:) …staff were so accommodating they provided us with two very strong fans and we were sorted.

Breakfast good,I like samoan food,Kokoesi, vaisalo, popo, pawpaw, samoan fruits.breafast was good, but sometimes toasts was cold.
Two days after my breakfast I didn't rest or sleep in my room because of upstairs loud noise of people walking and kids running.I complaint to the cleaner that day when I came back from the city, that was the reason I went out for drive, I was very disappointed about that.Hopefully all guests can give respect to each other.and

This review is for the room with private bathroom and air con:
We stayed at 6 different places ranging from homestay to resort during our 3 1/2 weeks in beautiful Samoa and The Samoan Outrigger was our least favourite. It doesn't represent Faʻa Sāmoa (the Samoan way) at all. Lots of uptight stuffy rules that make you feel like you are in Copenhagen or London rather than chilled Samoa. Early check out, early breakfast, rude staff and extortionate key deposit just being a few of the contributing factors that we were welcomed with upon check-in.
-key deposit is $50. ( as expensive as a good steak meal at a fancy restaurant for context) This is also not mentioned anywhere on their terms on Booking.com. I didn't have $50 cash on me at the time so they said I can pay after I went to an ATM. I completely forgot and we actually didnt have to pay ourselves - but worth pointing this out for other potential customers.
-shower dirty upon check in
-Told upon check in that breakfast finishes at 9. I commented that it's quite early (all other places in Samoa that we stayed at had breakfast finish at 10 or 11) and the girl on reception just replied "that's your problem". Rude much?
-Breakfast itself was terrible in comparison to everywhere else we stayed. Also, the way they just give you a plate of stuff instead of letting you choose what you want is incredibly wasteful.
-Both the door and ranch slider door didnt work properly in our room. Toilet door got jammed shut every time it was used and had no handle on the inside. Literally had to get the other person to open it from outside. Ranch slider door to outside didnt latch so someone could have come into our room at any time. Very unsecure.
-My partners sunglasses went missing from the pool area. (Our fault for leaving them unattended but just illustrates that lack of trust here)
-Cleaner would come through at 9:30 am each day banging on every door asking about cleaning.

Very grateful for the owners for being understanding and assisting as much as possible with an unexpected emergency on the first night of our stay, they made sure my kids were comfortable until we checked out, earlier than expected. A cosy homestead setting surrounded by lovely real Samoa ‘feel’ beach fales. Breakfast was great. The pool is cleaned daily and refreshing. Staff very hospitable.
Not sure why it’s classed as a Hotel, the 2 small bathrooms are shared with everyone else like a hostel - showers only a trickle of water, no toiletries as in BYO your own soap shampoo n conditioners. Steep and narrow creaking stairs for access to breakfast and the pool downstairs. Stayed in a room next to the noisy roadside where there are taxi’s and a gym across the road with a clear view into our room.

The owners Claus, Laena and the staff Mafoe, Tilo, Kilina and Sua along with the others that maintained the beautiful garden and pool were exceptional. Nothing was ever a problem, every day they would ask more than once if there is anything anyone needed. Although some people may think this is normal in a hospitality industry it makes a massive difference particularly if you are staying there on your own and you may be new to the country and everything that comes with that.
There were several people from different parts of the globe staying there who had never been to Samoa so it was wonderful to observe that consistency of exceptional service! The wonderful team at The Samoan Outrigger Hotel really make Samoa proud by what they do, there is that saying that “actions speak louder than words” so much so that you know you will be coming back there to stay again and again! I really do believe that this is truly a hidden gem of paradise!
