Our group consists of 3 couples who have been friends for 37 years. We met up at this comfy cottage for a long weekend together. The cottage itself is very comfortable, clean, cute, and quiet. We shared a lot of time sitting together around the big kitchen table eating and playing games. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare the meals we brought. The beds were good, and everyone had enough space. The cottage is located a good distance from the road and looks out directly onto the river. We enjoyed exploring the property and having a bonfire by the river. One of our group even took a polar plunge in the river!
We ventured away from the cottage to check out Island Ford Cave, Humpback Bridge, Swinging Bridge, Warm Spring Pools, Homestead Resort, some establishments in Covington, and the great walking trail that runs along the Jefferson River. The cottage is in a somewhat remote location, but is very close to lots of fun things to do. We had a great time!
Mike, the owner, is very helpful with suggestions of things to do in the area, and he responds to text messages quickly.
I highly recommend this property!

Exactly as described: beautiful, large, comfortable, and well appointed cabin, with kayaks and raft for guest use.
We loved fishing the river during the day and having campfires at night.
Owner was incredibly helpful during our entire stay.
Highly recommend this property!

This property is amazing!! The property offers floaty fun days by the creek. Our dogs enjoyed the property with easy water access. The cabin is beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you need for a stay. I highly recommend the property and the owners were very resourceful about the area and floating spots.

We enjoyed the river front, fishing, boating and making smores. The host provided everything we needed. Wished the middle bedroom was a bit larger but the sofa was comfortable, master bedroom was spacious, and the loft was perfect for the kids.

Mike has been great to work with. We rented his cabin for an extended stay. It’s easy to tell that the home is loved by his family. The accommodations are clean, spacious and comfortable. The scenery is beautiful. Would highly recommend for a VA getaway! Just several miles from the Homestead. Thanks for sharing your 2nd home with us!

Mike’s cabin is a beautiful oasis in the Allegheny mountains. If you’re a fisherman, you’ll love the direct access to the Jackson River right in the backyard. Mike also includes thoughtful extras like kayaks (which we used on nearby, Lake Moomaw) and a fully equipped kitchen. He is incredibly easy to get in touch with and responds to texts immediately. We would love to stay again!

We had a great time at the house! The house was clean and cozy. Perfect for our family and dog! The river is just down the little hill from the house. We enjoyed the fire by the river at night and fishing during the day. Lake Moomaw and Falling Springs are beautiful!!! The swinging bridge is pretty cool, too! Not for the faint of heart though! We will definitely be booking there again!

These hosts were so welcoming and everything was beyond our expectations. A beautiful setting, plenty of inflatable’s and a gorgeous river at the doorstep. Totally awesome!

This cabin is truly amazing. There is a ton of river front access and it is all very well maintained. The property is huge! There were enough kayaks for me and my three friends to use without having to bring our own, so that made it even more relaxing. Inside there is everything you could ever need or ask for. I'm used to having to resupply the toilet paper and paper towels at cabins but that was never an issue. There was ample everything, which is really very rare!
We fished for trout and kayaked on the Jackson River, kayaked Lake Mumaw, saw the Humpback Bridge, biked the Jackson River Scenic Trail (only a mile away), and visited Falling Springs waterfall (only 10 minutes away and absolutely stunning).
I would definitely recommend this cabin for adults and children!

The host were wonderful to work with! It was my wife, two boys (9&6) and me. Our vacation here was like Summer camp! We had so much fun on the river playing, floating, kayaking, and fishing. Awesome campfire location too. Would highly recommend for families who love outdoor activities.

Tons of water activities for kids and adults. Spent most of our 3 days floating the Jackson River. The place included 5 kayaks, one 6 person raft and life jackets to boot. Fully furnished, we just needed to bring food and drinks. The vacation was wonderful.

This is the first place we have stayed that felt like the owners had taken care of every detail, even a map to the river for kayaking. The kitchen felt like Grandma herself had stocked it to make supper that very night. As soon as we walked in, we could sense how loved this place was. Very clean but homey.

3 Generations Vacation
Nicely secluded, lots of riverfront area. Three year old needed help getting into the river, but easy for 10, 11 and 14 year olds. Kids kayaked all day, getting in and out. Papa sat in his chair, in the river!
We visited Lake Moomaw one day.
We had lots of fun and made great memories!

Beautiful and Peaceful
We had a wonderful time on our trip which included our family of 3 generations. Lucked out with great weather and spent most of the time enjoying the river with the kids. Loved having coffee on the porch in the mornings. Mike was super communicative, and even left a hand written note upon arrival. The location was great- a very peaceful setting enough to disconnect for a while, and yet close enough to grocery stores in case we forgot something - although you don't need it as the cabin is so well stocked. Wonderful memories and hope to visit again in the future!

We had a wonderful time at Jackson River! The property is absolutely spectacular. The views of the river are breathtaking. Such a beautiful house to relax and get away. We were two families with children and were comfortable in the house. The house was well stocked and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook. The screened in porch is lovely. We enjoyed all the outdoor space, swings, hammocks, fire pit, outdoor picnic tables. Nothing is missing to make this a perfect stay!
Mike was a fantastic host.

This home was perfect for our vacation with our daughter and her husband. On the sunny days we played on the river with the float and kayaks, and on a rainy day, we gathered at the large kitchen table for games. The beds, chairs, and sofa were extra comfy and the house was immaculate. There is a porch that is screened and is perfect for morning coffee and listening to the sounds of the river. There are many special touches that go above and beyond a typical VRBO rental inside and outside. My communication with Mike was excellent, and the home feels very loved by this family.

Six of us stayed at Mike’s house for four days of fly fishing on the Jackson River and other local streams. We truly enjoyed our stay and loved the location of the house right along the river with a great hole right out in front, where one of our guys hooked his first trout ever ( unfortunately, he lost it).
Mike was a wonderful host.

We all enjoyed our stay at this wonderful cabin. Plenty of room for our family. House was very clean. Host was very gracious and provided lots of great information on activities in the area. 2021 Thanksgiving
We had a good a time at the property in the Thanksgivings week. The property and the surrounding area were relaxing. The owner’s attention to details and quick responses made the stay more enjoyable. The water was a little too cold to do any water-related activities during winter , but there were many cool areas to explore in the surrounding mountains. Highly recommend the place for anyone who just wants to relax and forgets about the world for a few days .
P/S : the WiFi internet is surprisingly fast if you need it.

Maxin' on the Jackson!
The three of us fish together when we can (one of us flies down from ME) and where we stay is a big deal. It needs to have good water access and a place to prep all our fly fishing gear. It's a taller order than you might think. This place has both!
The covered, heated (!) space with folding tables set up is an ideal spot to spread out, assemble gear and prep fly rods. For those of you who fish, you know that doing this at the dining room table isn't ideal. It's so nice to have a dedicated, out-of-the-way spot that is comfortable and well-lit to get it all done!
The gas fireplace and its instant ambiance is something we all agreed we liked a little more than we thought we would and the house is well-equipped. Access to the Jackson is a 2 minute walk and the variety of water in such close proximity is a real plus.
A must stay of any angler looking to fish the Jackson!

Relaxing stay, great cabin and stretch of river
We had a great visit at Mike’s cabin. The cabin was clean & comfortable - kitchen was well equipped. Internet and Verizon cell service were good (though that meant work could reach us). The river was gorgeous and we had fun riding bikes on the nearby Jackson River Trail. Thunderstorms were forecast every day we were there, so between weather and unexpected work obligations - we never found time to use the canoes or kayaks available with the cabin. We hope to return soon to float the river! Mike was a great host - leaving behind maps with put in and take outs and lots of helpful info on the area. Thanks for sharing your cabin Mike!
