We loved how secure and private the villa was. There was an amazing view of mount Etna. We made use of the outdoor kitchen and outdoor seating every evening. The pool and villa were kept very clean and The child's area of the pool was invaluable. The host was incredibly helpful and friendly. He helped us with taxis and organizing tours. It was perfect for our family holiday. A bit further down the Mascali strip there was a really child friendly restaurant called Lido Monsone. Beautiful seafood and fantastic service.

There were a few hiccups with some facilities but the host was always available to help/fix. The showers are very small but there is an outdoor shower if that takes your fancy. The Mascali area in general seems to have an issue with refuse littered on the roads but don't let this put you off. You will definitely need a car for groceries and for ATM machines. The roads are in a bad state of repair and the drivers are a bit erratic but nothing a confident driver couldn't overcome. (Please note tours will pick you up at this villa as well which was great.)
