Beautiful location. Excellent service. Wonderful food.

The place is simply GREAT. Our 2 year old had so much fun on the playground outside and in the swimming pool inside. The restaurant (breakfast and dinner) was nice with a nice terrace. Our superior room was really spacious. Very nice staff. Nice hiking possibilities and Naturschwimmplatz from the hotel/parking. Good opportunity to relax and calm down from your every day life.

Some critics on a very high level: the room and the staircase could use some nicer decor touch. Also there is no tea or coffee making equipment in the room (but we didn’t ask to get some, probably they would make it happen even). The sauna was not always working, so you have to go and ask for it (=losing a little bit of time). The restaurant staff is slightly overwhelmed when there are a LOT of people, but they were all so lovely, so no big deal. No phone network, but very good wifi instead. All in all there were NO negative points!!!

Very decent breakfast. No eggs made to order. But the rest was really good. Diner was just fantastic the restaurant is really good. The chef is really good, the staff is very kind, polite and attentive. Very helpful with children. The gentleman at the reception went out of his way to make our stay extra comfortable. They normally start their sauna and steam baths after 2 pm. But he offered and started it at 9 am the day we were leaving. Amazing attention and hospitality. Will surely go back and recommend this place. For those who love the go on a walk there are multiple trails leading out of the hotel, each of a different length to suit everyones capacity. The location is great too, it is at the end of the road and the trail in the forest starts from the hotel. Just perfect for those who want to stroll or go for hiking.In the evenings one can have high tea with cakes on the terrace. Hits the sweet spot.

Beautiful location, perfect for hiking. Very friendly staff. We had breakfast and dinner. Food was excellent. Good choice of local wines. Nice wellness facilities.

restaurant was wonderful. cosy local cuisine and good service (front office and restaurant staff were friendly and efficient) the pool was old school and very quiet in the mornings.

nothing major, there is no mobile phone reception but wifi was good. restaurant closed sun/mon but we knew that when booking. the local village is 4 km away perhaps with some food but we did not check as we had food with us.

Great little hotel nestled in the Black Forest. Very well maintained pool and spa area, very comfortable areas in the lobby to have a drink or to enjoy the fireplace, good restaurant.

The beds are way too hard and the pillows are impossible to sleep in!

The hotel is located at the end of a forest road in a fantastic and picturesque position. It has an antique appearance and a wonderful visual impact. It has all the amenities you could ask for and the staff are absolutely wonderful. An experience to be repeated.

One very minor detail, the toilet flush works a little weakly.

The breakfast is great with lots of choices and the personnel is really nice and helpful.

We were surprised about a few things when considering it is rated as a 4 star hotel: - 2 days of restdays or ' ruhetag' on Sunday/ monday. Which meant a hotel that has no service for a restaurant, bar, terrace. A dark and empty hotel at 20.00u. - the bar or lounge area were nice with comfortable chairs and ideal for us to read a bit. However it was dark and therefor not inviting, (you have to switch the lights on yourselves), and no personnel. You have to ask for a drink at the reception . They were very helpful. Also other guests asked us how/where to get drinks. One feels a bit lost. - the hotel is in a beautiful forest and nature setting. The music in the longe was however a local (rock) station with regular news and traffic updates (!!) it felt like a mismatch with the serene setting. Spotify has great lounge or classical music tracks and this could easily be improved. - the lighting in the swimmingpool was also limited. Not possible to read a book or so, and as there was no personnel around we were not able to find the switches A pity as the swimming pool itself was nice.

The place is very beautiful. Staff is friendly and the food in the restaurant is very good. When arriving at the place, one feels immediately at home. The whole hotel is beautifully decorated with a lot of attention to details. The room was spacious with balcony. The spa area is also very nice with a big swimming pool and jacuzzi area.

For people who like to have immediate access to a small town or city it is, as it says a house in the woods, a little bit far away from a nearby village (Sulzburg 4km). But if you like to be in a beautiful forrest and want to relax it is the perfect place. Sulzburg is 5 minutes away by car and Freiburg 40 minutes. But you definitely need a car to get around.

Only at diner personal was helpful. Otherwise none of the staff was available. Noisy guests in the morning without any correction, smoking under our room, cleaning room; standard not done and when you ask for it receptionist becomes angry. Receptionist also tries to bill us twice. Airconditioning; not available. Balcony; none existent Wifi; only in room and very, very, very slow 3G or 4G; not available Not reachable by phone. I mean, you are not reachable by phone.
