Lilac House reminded us of a house we lived in during college. Rather what our college rental might have been if we had had the money and imagination to “fix it up.”
We didn’t want our weekend stay to end. It was relaxing and just what we wanted: great location; clean, well- appointed rooms; delightful kitchen with everything we could possibly have needed.
We want to return and bring family members….maybe rent the entire house for the whole gang, not just the ground floor.

Very comfortable bed. Very clean. Lots of cooking utensils and gadgets. Nice perks of coffee and detergents. We would definitely come back if in the area.

The house is immaculate with every convenience. It is large and airy and very comfortable with the pictures very accurate. Location to old town and the waterfront was so much better than we realised. Your are virtually waterfront and it’s only 2 mins to Carson house one way and lovely bars and restaurants, and the boat, the other. It is managed by a company which feels less personal, they didn’t respond with any suggested things to do as an example, but would recommend based on the quality of the property and the location. Groceries are about a 5 - 10 minute drive but choice of great bars and restaurants walking distance. Really easy access back onto main roads so great location to base yourself to explore the surrounding area. Thanks for lovely stay

I’ve been coming to Humboldt for years and never stayed on a Victorian! Absolutely loved the space and it’s right down street from historic mansion! Amazing open spaces - everything you need and more! Would love to stay again!

Spacious, well-appointed unit. Comfortable bed and bedroom, gorgeous updated kitchen with everything you need, large dining and living areas, laundry room and dishwasher, ROKU TV. One of the nicest, most appealing VRBOs we have ever rented.

Perfectly pleasant area for walking and viewing local architecture as well and close to shops and dining.
We enjoyed the kitchen island space especially and easily played cards at the dining table in the next room. The bed and living room pull out were both very comfortable.

Home was nice and clean, and in a convenient location. We enjoyed our stay there.

The house was lovely, comfortable and clean. Only issue was the heat was off and it took a couple of hours to warm up. We texted the manager and they responded immediately, offering to bring a second space heater. We went out to dinner and when we got back it was fine.

I absolutely loved this place. I wanted to stay in a Victorian home for a writing and hiking retreat. One of the books I'm writing I've set in this area in a Victorian home and this really helped me envision what I set out to do.
The home is tastefully decorated with a modern kitchen but with some of the original amazing workmanship preserved. It was so clean. Thank you for that!
Also, the washer and dryer is a nice touch and so needed. This space is way roomy for two people. I didn't use the fold out couch but it is in the front sitting room and could be private and quiet for those wanting an extra bed. The proximity to Old Town and restaurants is amazing. I loved walking to the restaurants and going on a self led walking tour of the Victorian architecture through the neighborhoods near Old Town.
There are quite a bit of homeless in town and one morning they shouted at each other outside the window which was a little scary. However, I walked everywhere as a solo female traveler and never had problems. I would just suggest keeping items secure while walking like not carrying a wallet in a back pocket
The proximity to the Redwood Forest is amazing and I was able to do some awesome hikes. Overall, I couldn't have found a more perfect place that was clean, comfortable and so historic.

From the Victorian elegance of each room to the beauty of the location, we were very impressed with our stay. The kitchen became a gathering for visiting friends, and Eureka family want all their incoming visitors to stay there. Only one evening was the children playing upstairs unbearable, and the bathtub drained slowly. Oh well! The kitchen had all the service, we could relax with television at night and there was plenty of room for this tall family. Yes, we truly felt at home.

This cute little Victorian is right at the end of the street a block from the Carson mansion, which is awesome. And also only a few blocks from the old town area with all the shops and restaurants. Great location. Everything we needed. Only problem was the Internet was slow- but not a dealbreaker for us.

The house is beautiful! We stayed the the bottom unit. It is welcoming and full of natural light. If you love old homes and appreciate the details of old Victorian homes you will not be disappointed! The house is walkable to all of the historic district. It is a block away from the Carson Mansion!

Great Rental We Thoroughly Enjoyed
Overall very positive stay. Only hiccup was never receiving the key box code via text and having to scramble to get that upon arrival. Would highly recommend this rental to others.

We loved our accommodations! The only complaint was slow wifi, and no bath products.

Charming and spacious
Very charming, well-appointed space! The unit is much larger than expected. Super clean and fresh. Walking distance to downtown shops and boardwalk. It's unfortunate that Eureka is very depressed right now, due to Covid I suspect. Lots of homeless and transients in this area. Store clerks are all zombies.

Spacious, well-appointed and charming flat in the perfect location
We loved our stay at the Lilac Victorian. Will definitely come back.
The Pros:
- gorgeous interior with original Victorian mouldings and floors
- impeccably clean
- well appointed with thoughtful details throughout
- super comfy bed, bedding and towels
- tons of space
- extremely well stocked kitchen, including basic pantry items, makes it easy to cook and enjoy meals at your home away from home
- full sized laundry (including detergent) in unit was super convenient, especially for longer stays
- two blocks from shops, cafes, restaurants and waterfront
- easy and free parking
The cons:
- spotty wifi. Tried watching Netflix and movie kept buffering, even after resetting the router.
- We stayed in the lower flat, and you can definitely hear the guests on the hardwood floors above if they are heavy walkers and/or boisterous.
- The flat is definitely in the neighborhood you want to be in for Eureka. It is close to all the sites and convenient for everything. However, it should be noted that there is a bit of a homeless problem in Eureka and that is quite visible and present in this neighborhood.

Gorgeous place!
Loved staying at the Lilac Victorian downstairs! Beautiful place exactly like the photos.Spotless! Very easy checkin and so close to downtown it was great for walking to everywhere we wanted. Had everything we needed for cooking on our own/ making coffee. Could see the water from the living room( There is a park community center blocking some part of the view ). Internet had some issues but I think it was an outage for the area, not just this place. Overall excellent experience-Would absolutely stay again!

Secret bit of Heaven on Earth!

My daughter and I cannot begin to thank you both for opening your beautiful home so others may be gifted with the magic that exists here. We are ever grateful to have spent time here leaving footprints on the sand and sharing wishes with the ocean. We look forward to returning to this secret bit of Heaven on Earth!
