The hotel was in a lovely situation with views across Stokes Bay and the Solent towards the Isle of Wight. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the menu in the restaurant was varied. We had an evening meal and breakfast during our stay.. The chef and his staff are extremely able. All members of staff were friendly and very keen to assist guests. I can highly recommend The Alverbank Hotel.

Nothing to dislike.

My room was very big considering today's standards, clean, sea view, parking and amazing staff. Previous comments mention that mattress is hard but for me was just right.

The room I stayed needs a bit of maintenance (walls and curtains). Breakfast is somehow limited. Probably because the time I visited the hotel is very quiet the reception door is kept closed. I think would be nice to inform guests before hand about this.

great location, can see the sea, 1 minute walk to sea front. very clean, very friendly staff, spacious twin room. parking on site. Nice simple continental breakfast croissant, toast, fruit, yogurt. Kettle in the room.

water pressure low at the time, so shower not great, did work eventually did inform staff so hopefully will be sorted.

The only thing that let the room down was the lack of pressure in the shower it was just a dribble at times!! apart from that everything else gets a thumbs up.

Restaurant was closed but we were provided with information for alternatives. A lot of restaurants in town were closed on a Monday.

Breakfast offering was fab despite the main kitchen/restaurant being closed, Abby went above and beyond. We found our room quiet, comfortable, spacious and the views are amazing.

The room was absolutely lovely. the shower huge. i had a lovely view of the sea. I had a great night's sleep in that lovely bed. the breakfast was great too. can't wait to come back.

my only gripe was, there was only 1 hanger in the room. so nowhere really to hang clothes.

Loads of character in the building and grounds. Staff were all very friendly and attentive, when available. Continental breakfast was amongst the nicest I have had in a hotel.

Facilities did not match the description. No television or iron available. The room had no working heating, confirmed by another guest in room 5 and it was very cold. There was an intermittent noise from an extractor or pump in the hotel, which was quite distracting. Full English breakfast was overcooked and dry.

As the restaurant was not functioning breakfast was uncooked but very good strawberries and raspberries were offered

We were told that due to an event in the gardens the next day there would be a little noise from the setting up early in the morning. We are fairly early risers so it was worth the room upgrade. However no mention was made of a disco dance that night which was very loud, with much boisterous singing and went on unitil well past midnight.

The location was amazing. A few minutes walk to the beach. Not easy to access without a car. Alicia (sorry I know it was an unusual and beautiful name) was very, very helpful and personable. Lovely outdoor garden!

The person who greeted me on arrival was not helpful. The communication before I arrived was not responded to. Breakfast was a bit sad as I am gluten-free. They did make an effort though. Room was small and did not match description. I could see the cleaners had been in but did not make up my bed, leave me clean glasses, etc. Restaurant only open from Thursday - so I missed it and had to scramble for delivery food after my meetings each evening.

The location is very peaceful. The hotel is in a quiet park and a five-minute walk away from the sea. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was amazing - clean, cosy, quiet, fresh (incense sticks were a lovely touch), with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom wasn't massive, but big enough and very stylish.

It seems to be a thing for most hotels, but there's never a little shelf in the shower to put your toiletries on.

Beautiful location, staff were super friendly and helpful and the room was lovely and spacious.

We personally prefer a full English breakfast to continental so the option to upgrade would have been a bonus.
