Great location and facilities with lovely hosts.

The historic village of Wollombi was very scenic, we didn't have time to explore it as we were there for our daughter's wedding at a nearby retreat. We were warmly greeted by our host Jane, who took us on a tour of the main house which was a magnificent example of an early colonial mansion, very historic in origin. The Capers Guesthouse had a choice of three separate buildings for a stay, we had the Barn which was a real highlight as it was literally a slab barn with beautiful interior, so rustic but comfortable. The furniture inside was a collection of antiques which reflected the heritage atmosphere of the Barn and town. All modern facilities for cooking, the supplied breakfast had a choice of cereals or full cooked breakfast. The ingredients supplied were the best quality, tomatoes, huge mushrooms, eggs and the best sausages and bacon I've tasted in a long time. The bed was a huge king size, very comfortable and the bathroom was modern and supplied by fresh rainwater from tanks. We want to try the other buildings for a stay in the future and have the pleasure of a historic building stay.

The welcoming owner, the amazing breakfast and kitchen facilities. The comfort of the beds and the pool was great! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return for another stay.

We stayed in the barn which is extremely rustic and took a while to get the fire going to warm up . Quite dark inside due to timber everywhere and antique furniture

The value for money, proximity to great cafes/restaurants and a short drive to vineyards which each offer their own bespoke wine tastings and food. The owner's Mike and Jane and their pet dog Wally (most especially) are lovely and accommodating and would recommend their guesthouse to those searching for a place to stay at Wollombi.

Wi-fi would be a bonus for future patrons so a personal hotspot with Telstra or pocket wi-fi is recommended to be brought with. However, I do believe it would take away from the point of having a retreat from home or an escape from the city so I personally do not view this as a negative so in reality, there was nothing I could fault.
