We were very excited to arrive at this beautiful location, however, the listing doesn't accurately describe this rental. Be aware that the windows don't close properly (or at all), there is a lot of noise during the night, properly critters. This unit is above someone and the neighbors are quite close. Very nice ferry driver! If you are into a glamping experience, it is worth it, but the price should reflect this.

The island was a lovely setting for our family to get away after months of dealing with serious illness. we really enjoyed our little cabin, the trails and the beach. In five minutes on the always available boat, one can be back on the mainland. When a large group ignored quiet hours with a very late night party, the owners were responsive and resolved the situation quickly. The accommodations are rustic, yet comfortable. We loved playing with our dog on the beach and heading up to Burlington for an afternoon.

This place is all about the location, there are several cottages to choose, some slightly nicer than others. We stayed in Willow which was great for proximity to beach and view of the water, but on the basic side, aka “Glamping”, but we will be back to try the others. Very nice family that owns and operates the island, super convenient to take the “ferry” across either way any time you want, safe parking for your vehicle, all the water toys you could ask for, nice beach chairs and umbrellas, and a couple big rafts to swim out to and hang out on. Better bbq grill would be nice. Overall we had a great time.

The island was so incredible after going to Burlington one time we decided we rather just stay at the lake the rest of the trip so we loaded up with groceries and began relaxing. Lots of water activity options, amazing views, great hiking, canoeing and everyone is so friendly. Will definitely do again.

The island was so incredible after going to Burlington one time we decided we rather just stay at the lake the rest of the trip so we loaded up with groceries and began relaxing. Lots of water activity options, amazing views, great hiking, canoeing and everyone is so friendly. Will definitely do again.

Amazing location
Garden Island is a beautiful spot for a family getaway. The island is secluded yet easily accessible, and the availability of canoes, kayaks, and paddleboard makes it even easier to enjoy the area. The staff and other guests were all friendly and helpful, it feels like a community, and even the dogs were all well behaved. The Willow apartment was not very clean and is pretty run down, but it is comfortable enough to provide a home base and launching point to enjoy the island and region. We got inadequate info for check in, but that was easy enough to overcome. I highly recommend Garden island and would definitely go back.
