There are plenty of books and games to occupy non-beach time.The only issue we had (which was not really an issue for us) was with the WIFI strength. There is a good signal in the living, family room, deck and kitchen, but there was no signal in the master bedroom and the downstairs bedroom so the televisions in those rooms we unable to stream shows. They need to install a router with better range.Other than that, everything was perfect. Thanks for a great, relaxing vacation.

This property is damaging the good reputation of Beach Realty. We have been staying in properties at the Outer Banks for over 30 years, and have never seen a property that was so very neglected, in very poor condition, unsafe and unhealthy. There was mold on walls in general living spaces where past flooding had been, jagged rusted baseboards where children or pets could cut their feet in every bathroom, toilets not flushing properly, showerhead not attached and hanging out of the wall, and a deck and steps to the beach that were unsafe and dangerous. The splintering wood and the nails sticking up all over the deck and steps were far too dangerous, so we used the public beach access so we wouldn't have any accidents. Management DID send a very kind gentleman with a hammer to hammer down some of the nails, but it is really up to the owner to maintain the property. We paid a premium price for a substandard property.

This house is spacious and the best part is that it is only a few steps from the beach. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend this beach home to anyone coming to the Outer Banks.

It is an old house compared to the many houses along the beach but it serviceable, comfortable and provided a very nice rental for the family. The hot tub was convenient and clean, and in good working shape and the older children loved it. The walk to the beach is short and accessible. Inside had most everything that we needed and in working condition. The grill was a bit worn by the end of summer but it worked well, and had a propane tank that was full to provide a few fun grilled dinners on the beach. Inside is again old with knotty pine but we liked the rustic feeling. There is a game room downstairs, and a very comfortable "apartment" as well. Bottom line is that we plan to rent Gypsea Rose again.

Vintage property oozing with charm. Close beachfront location cannot be beat. Well air-conditioned and reasonably clean. Nonfunctional in-kitchen microwave, however working unit provided in adjacent room. Otherwise, all appliances in working order. Cozy and comfortable. My family (including young infant!) loved our stay and would definitely return.

The house is well represented in the online listing/photos. It is simple, no-frills, and dated but very comfortable, family friendly, and fun, with a fabulous deck, coffee station, windows overlooking the ocean, hot tub, and beachfront location that is unbeatable. The only issues we had were the slightly run down nature of the house (given the VERY high cost for the week we stayed -- and we stay at 5 star hotels quite often) and that the dryer was broken (per the agency) for the entire stay. This was only problematic for us since we packed light, planning to use the laundry at the house. All that said, we would go back to this place in a heartbeat -- super fun place and on the beach -- but would not pay the same rate for it.

Many of us showered in the outdoor shower because of this. The upstairs bedrooms seemed nice and the furniture was comfortable. We enjoyed the large dining room table and the larger family room. We love that it is spacious, yet cozy so that family has a good combination of private space and gathering space. The new computer "bar" at the back window that overlooks the beach was wonderful! We appreciate the easy transition from the house to deck to beachfront. Happy that we can have our dogs with us. We had a few maintenance issues with good response. Surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom floors needed better cleaning (front of cupboard doors and drawers in kitchen, corners of bathroom floors) but generally very clean. The sprayer you provided for the hose was very helpful, but fyi, it sprays really hard and is likely to remove paint on the deck as it didn't have a gentle spray option. We went to Tale of the Whale, artist coops, ordered Pizza Stop with fast delivery, rented bikes for riding around the neighborhood, also Cornhole. Love the turtle pond off of Circle Drive! Thank you for helping us celebrate family time again this year!

The house was great and everything reported in the listing. However, from the first day we had no hot water. I was dealing with Beach realty who kept saying someone would be there "any minute now". However, 3 hours went by and telephoned and no one seemed to know about the request. More phone calls, no one calls you back to say someone is dispatched (you get the picture). Then, they say they will credit me $200 for my hassling with this. Of course we are 2 weeks past our departure and still no credit on the account. Arggggh! i will have to call Beach Realty again. So annoying.

The house has an amazing location, right on the beach with its own stairs from the house. It's a short drive to Duck or Kill Devil Hills and lots of great food options nearby. The house has lots of space for everyone to spread out and hang out. The bathrooms are dated, but overall, such a great beach house!
