For years we have felt guilty every time we went away without our Aussies. We found this home in Fort Walton Beach and it was perfect for us and allowed us to bring our dogs. The house even came with a dog door. As soon as we walked into the home, we noticed the houses clean "beachy" feel. Barefoot Retreat", was in a residential neighborhood, close to a park, grocery stores, and the downtown, Miracle Strip. It was also close to local beaches. The owner provided everything we needed for our beach trip. We always felt safe and welcomed by the neighbors. Lauren, the property manager, was responsive to everything that we needed. Our 28 days at Barefoot Retreat went so quickly and it was difficult leaving. We plan to be back.

Nice house

Overall decent place. Cons: No garbage bags, no dish soap, dishwasher didn't work, clothes washer was full of wet towels. Beds were very firm. On the plus side it was dog friendly.

My husband and I really loved staying here. The house was just what we needed for the two of us. The backyard was large with a beautiful deck, we enjoyed fishing and the location was great! Would love to stay again!!

This house is great for the price and was perfect for us because we were able to keep our boat docked in the backyard for our entire stay. It’s only a 10 minute boat ride to Crab Island which was a plus! The location of the house is close to grocery stores and restaurants and less than a 10 minute drive to the boardwalk which was nice. The patio is a great place to relax at night. Plenty of beach toys, life jackets, jetty wagon and more are available in the garage if you need them. The host is awesome!

This property is all about location! One block from Ferry Park to enjoy morning walks. Minutes away from any amenity you may need. Best of all was the dock for our boat and canal access to the bay. We also enjoyed the deck and fenced in yard for our dog. Great stay!

Way better than a hotel and cheaper. House was clean and comfortable 👍

The house was very nice, but had a musty odor. There was garbage in 3 garbage cans when we arrived and the shower curtains could use a wash, however we very much enjoyed the backyard and deck.

Very happy with the house and management staff. Very clean and awesome party porch. We had one issue with the dishwasher but the management staff sent someone over to fix it. We had to cut our stay short by 3 weeks but will keep this place on the top of our list for our winter stays next year.

House is very adequate, description is accurate. We were there for Christmas with family. Deck area is wonderful, back yard is great for dogs. Hope to stay there ;in the future..

The property was nice but the beds (as in, all of them) were horrible. If they had nails, it would have been complete. I had to go buy 3 inch mattress toppers for both the full and king beds that cost me at Walmart close to $200. My daughter slept on the floor with a great mattress we found in the closet. She had the best place to sleep, no lie. They did not have a pitcher to make tea or any powder drink mixes. We used a large mason jar but it had no lid and I personally like to have one on my beverage containers but that's me. The back shower's water pressure was weak, and the dishwasher suddenly turned on and only worked on the last day. The housekeeper prior to our arrival might have been better because when we walked in it smelled like dirty dog, but it was clean. Having said all of this, I would say the place was still lovely. I own several properties myself and thought the owners should know what little things could place this property as an A rated rental immediately. I never called anyone because they did not make this a miserable experience. I would stay again if these things could be done. The fact that they allow pets is awesome, and very comfortable for animal lovers. I thought the layout was great, and the patio was a hit. My kids (both teenage years) really loved the hook game on the deck and the canopy swing was a super good idea as well. Overall, this rental was still worth the price.

Property was clean and ready for our stay. We were able to pull into the garage to unload our things. We enjoyed the covered deck and our dogs enjoyed the fenced backyard. The neighborhood was quiet and we had a nice view of the canal from the house/deck.

Property was just as listed. We planned a last minute trip the night before leaving. Booking process was great. No issues at all with the home. Fenced yard is perfect for any pets you have. Back deck is wonderful for coffee in the morning and wine in the afternoon. Location to main drag and beach is excellent. So many restaurant options. Neighborhood was quiet. Perfect! Will definitely rent again when in the area.

The yard and back porch were perfect.

Our previous reservation canceled on us and we were desperately looking for a place to accommodate us. We took a chance and booked this house. It was perfect for us! Thank you for letting us stay at your house. We enjoyed it.

Everything at the house was great! They had everything we needed to kitchen items to beach items! I loved this house and view! Only bad thing was that the trash was already full when we got there, and we had trouble with our trash but other than that everything was great!

The neighbor across the canal parked an extra boat making it almost impossible for us to leave since the water is so shallow. There were a lot of flies. The trash bin was full when we got there. And was overflowing when we left. But we loved all the fans(inside and out) and the house stayed cool. Back patio was awesome as well. We loved the space in the garage too. Great location if you plan to access everything by boat.

Booking, arrival, home were great! Could not use the dock as the boat was large and water low. That was a bummer but we were notified ahead of time.

Locations was nice neighborhood that was quiet and easy to navigate thru. The house was awesome. Our kids love being on the dock in the evening and just sitting around on the back patio. We will definitely be returning again.

This home is perfect if you plan to bring a shallow draft boat with you in order to explore Destin and Fort Walton by water. Our boat drafts 12" and we had no problem getting in and out of the canal even at low tide. The house is in a quiet neighborhood about 3 minutes from a Winn-dixie and a west marine along with other stores. It was nice being able to pull our vehicle inside the garage at night and park the boat trailer in the yard. We left the boat in the water at the dock the whole time. There is a boat launch 5 minutes away. You could walk. We ubered. Great place to stay! Thank yall!

Lauren was great and even dropped a hair dryer off at the front door. (I left it under the counter of the hall bath...BTW). The place is very dog friendly and even had a doggie door like we have at home (our beagle felt right at home). The shower curtain in the hall bath is the same one we have at home too! I was thinking about how our boxer would have loved the place (he passed away a year and a half ago) and in the garage my son's girlfriend pointed out a sign that said "a spoiled boxer lives here." The location was great. Only a few things could could have made it better but nothing major. A hood on the hall bathroom door for a robe or towel would be nice. Also, there was no extra toilet paper so if you're going to be there for more than a day or two, bring extra. We had to go and buy some and left some extra in the hall closet. I would definitely recommend this place (especially if your bringing your furbaby).

We really enjoyed our stay at this perfect waterfront family getaway. We especially loved the large fenced back yard with large covered deck area for hanging out with family. We can’t wait to come back.
