The room was exactly as pictured, but more beautiful in person. the bathroom area was all separated so it was very comfortable for two people. Breakfast was perfect, it was served in a picnic basket, so you could take it with you to bed or any table, or even the beach across the street. Bed was comfy, good AC, great service.

Close to the bio beach kayaking pickup locations

It was a total surprise to me that no children are allowed “through the gate”, as the owner said, because it “violates her insurance policy”. This means there is no temp visit to us is allowed if there is a child, even if he/she is not going to stay. This is not clearly stated in their policy. Before 8:00 am in the morning we checked out, I received a message from booking.com saying that the owner alleged that I took away the key and thus I needed to pay for that. Our checkout time was not due yet at that moment, and my wife was still in the hotel at that point. This was really crazy!

Puertas felt like a home away from home. Kate was absolutely delightful – so friendly and helpful. We were right across the street from parking, snorkel rentals and tours (DO THE BIO BAY!), and a small stretch of beach. And while there's not a ton going on for nightlife or restaurants in Vieques during shoulder season, we were very close to what was there! LOVED the breakfast basket and enjoying it on the patio. The restaurant, which opened for the season on the first day we arrived, was absolutely excellent – we had our anniversary dinner there and it delivered 100%. I also want to sleep in that bed every night for the rest of my life. I will highly recommend Puertas to anyone visiting Vieques!

Slight issue with the water pressure in the shower. Wasn't sure whether it was island-specific, though.

I received a warm welcome and lots of instructions from the staff. Communication, including for taxi arrangements were super smooth. The room was very nicely decorated, clean and comfy. I never had a breakfast served in a picnic basket by my window so that was a good plus. I loved the big hamac on the terrace to chill. The beach towels and chairs provided were very welcome. The entrance is secure with a code / lock on the door. The local e-guide was very useful and well designed.

The place can be noisy at night due to the night life happening on the beach. earplugs were divided though. The breakfast was good but a bit light / simple. Check-out is at 11 and at 10:59 the cleaning lady was my door. I received a text at 11:07 asking me if I was ready (politely). I understand the policy but perhaps a bit more flexibility / more subtlety would have been good. Like, say check-out is at 11 promptly (as they do) but only except to start cleaning at 11:30… The restaurant was closed, which I only found out when arriving. There is.a good option nearbye for dinner but would have liked to know before booking. Overall and in light of the above I think the price could be a bit cheaper.

absolutely everything. there is so much special detail in every corner. the host was marvelous. te location superb - close to the best beaches on the island.

The host was amazing, she made our stay extremely comfortable, she also helped make tack reservations with us. The property is extremely cute and comfortable, very instagrammable. They serve breakfast in a very cute picnic basket.

Kate, Scott, and their staff are exceptional and have a created a real gem! You are guaranteed a fantastic experience at Puertas! Bring some good Karma with you as you will leave with even more to give!

Cleanliness and close to everything

Breakfast was delivered in darling picnic baskets. The room was beautiful, with classic tiles and a gorgeous shower. Service was prompt. The hotel provided beach towels and chairs. Hotel is walking distance from restaurants and a little convenience store.

I rarely do reviews however our stay at Puertas was wonderful! Our host was excellent--- so helpful with everything including restaurant reservation, transportation arrangements etc...and very attentive to detail she even arranged for us to be transported from the airport to the hotel as a courtesy. She was even flexible as our flight arrived earlier than check in time. Next time we come to Villa case we will definitely stay there and hopefully next time we'll be able to sample some of the food at the restaurant below El Quenepo. Thank you for making my birthday trip memorable it was my favorite part of our stay in Puerto Rico

Not locking the front gate - and only having one key for two guests
