It has everything for a perfect stay: comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast including local products and a magnificent view of the garden, and a spa center with a swimming pool. I especially loved the view from the room: it overlooked the Jardim Duque da Terceira with its trees and flowers (and lots of singing frogs!).

The staff was very kind.

The beds were not very confortable and the room wasn´t clean.

rooms only half renovated, toilets look tired and old, no plug next to the beds and poorly lit rooms. hard mattresses and cheap pillows, staff extremely unpleasant, here are some examples: #1 when we arrived at 8pm the receptionist was chatting with a colleague from room cleaning services and kept us waiting standing at the desk for a good 10 minutes before checking us in, he just kept chatting with his colleague as if we weren’t there. #2 at 21:35 we called reception and asked if it was possible to book a table for 2 at the restaurant, they said it was still open so we went downstairs, we asked a waitress who was visibly annoyed by our presence but she nevertheless gave us a table sighing and rolling eyes. After 5 min she came to set the table and gave us the menus, we didn’t like the daily menu and opted for a steak and a salmon salad, she took our orders and then came back 5 min later saying the kitchen couldn’t take our order anymore, we were asked to go to the bar downstairs instead to have a sandwich or a warmed up meal…very disappointing given this is a 4 star hotel and that we had arrived at least 25 min before the closing of the restaurant. #3 Staff at breakfast also very unpleasant with ladies rolling eyes and checking their watches when you go down for breakfast 15 min before the closing of the breakfast room…they should really work on their staff’s attitude.

Very good external soundproofing. The decor is very cool, room is spacious (and I had a gorgeous view out to the gardens behind). I also really liked the toiletries provided. Breakfast has a nice range and variety. Location is amazing. Staff are excellent - extremely friendly and helpful, and even memorised my name (seems small, but makes a huge difference). Gym is a little run down but plenty of equipment for a decent workout (I was actually surprised at how big it was). The pool and jacuzzi are small but clean and a nice temperature. Happy hour every day from 6 to 7 is a nice touch.

Internal soundproofing was bad - you can hear the noise from other rooms very easily. Also, the sauna wasn't working, which is a shame as I like to use the sauna after a workout. The health suite area in general could use some aesthetic renovation. Otherwise, only a couple of suggestions for improvement - a bathrobe would elevate the level of comfort and would be useful for using the pool and jacuzzi. There was only tea in the room, coffee would have been nice.
