This was our 4th time here , over 35 years. The location and general historic panache are very special. It feels like an honour to stay at KDH.
The foyer seemed to be continually taken over by function people and the dining facilities were not up to 5 Star standard. We stayed over Shavuot and then Shabbat and meals were basically limited to unappealing cold choices during those times. Many of the guests were clearly not Ultra-Orthodox and yet it was run on Orthodox lines. For example, over Shabbat, the lifts were set as Shabbat lifts. Some of the staff seemed to act as if we should be serving them.

It is very rare to write any feedback following a stay at a hotel, but unfortunately this time is warranted.
I have just returned from Israel, and on reflection, I am deeply disappointed with the standard of the King David - especially with the hefty price tag that comes with it. I have stayed at some pretty impressive hotels all over the world - with some of them being half the price for a night that I paid at the King David. From the Ritz in London to La Mamounia in Marrakech- both of these hotels that I’ve stayed in are similar prices to yours. And yet, the standard of the room here was the equivalent of a 3* hotel I’m afraid.
Last week marked my third time at the King David - which I have always associated with opulence and finery. However the room I was given was anything but that. With the price tag associated with that room I am quite frankly in disbelief that I paid so much for the standards.
It’s easier for me to list the issues I had as I don’t want this to be an essay. Especially as writing reviews is an uncommon occurrence for me.
By no particular order:
- The TV was tiny - the sort of kind you can buy for $50 off Amazon. Was pretty shocking.
- The TV remote didn’t even work. I couldn’t change the volume.
- The bathroom was like a motel. It was incredibly basic. It was small and felt very outdated.
- The electrical wiring hanging out of various places including above the mini bar.
- The breakfast was very average. I don’t understand why we were given 3 ginormous slices of smelly cheeses (that couldn’t possibly be finished) - with everything else being a relatively small portion.
- In addition, the bread we received was cold. I’ve never been presented with cold bread with a room service breakfast in my life.
- The gentleman who provided our room service insisted we pay there and then in our room. Was incredibly uncomfortable as he stood in the middle of our hotel room waiting for our card details.

our home away from home a 12 out of 10. Big spacious rooms with large separate bathrooms location is superb walk to old city through Jaffa gates and shop at Mamilla. Pool is incredible, grounds are large and expansive, and it makes for an oasis right in the heart of all the action

Beautiful view of the Old City from our room, magical at sunrise and at night. The breakfast was excellent and the bar and restaurants were also excellent. We particularly enjoyed our conversations with Yardena, the very knowledgeable sommelier. We had some great Israeli wines that she recommended for our taste. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the Old City and taxis are easily available for other jaunts.

great hotel and most of the staff is exceptional. I would simply recommend the younger staff especially in the restaurant focus more on the clientele than on private conversations.
Not a whole lot, great, historic and super place to stay in Jerusalem.

location and the historic significance of the hotel building
staff unclear on communication. we booked a triple de luxe, on booking advertised as 30sqm, and at check in we were offered an upgrade to family room, allegedly a larger room. the actual room was a standard, 24 sqm room, where we could not fit. I complained and asked to be given the room we paid for and we were answered that there were no other triple rooms but that we could have pay additional 1400 euros for an upgrade. by then it was late afternoon and I said I wanted to leave the following day and get a refund for the two other nights. the reception suggested I spoke to manager and when I spoke to the manager she said that hey are having issues with booking.com. after the first night they moved us to a triple and that was presented to us as a favour. I did not change hotel eventually and remained as I had little time in Jerusalem and did not want to spend too much time looking for another hotel. Carpets in the room is old and stained

Everything about this place is extremely high quality! Literally everything! Eitan and Jeremy from guest relations will make sure you have the most pleasant stay. If you're in the dining hall for breakfast look around for Isaac to help you out, he is amazing.
I just wish the spa was a open at night.

This was my wife’s first visit in Israel (as a birthday gift), so it was very important to be a marvellous holiday for her. I told it to the hotel staff before our visit, and they did Everything (!) to reach this goal! It was a wonderful experience for my wife, and now she support Israel as much as I support the 3,000 years old Nation and its eternal capital Jerusalem.
