We had a great stay in this light and very open-feeling basement apartment. It felt very private; although we could occasionally hear muffled sounds from our hosts upstairs, we never saw them. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and the amenities were stellar: continental breakfast, coffee/tea bar, trail snacks, cookies, fresh bread, and extensive toiletries available in the bathroom. With the weather so mild, we were able to enjoy the outdoor patio/dining area, outdoor tub, and hot tub. Our 5 year old was able to make the trek to the rocky beach down the well maintained trail. All in all a lovely place to stay.

Wonderful spot, great attention to detail, everything was more/better than expected! Super clean, great decor, comfy beds, top quality bedding and such a cozy spot to retreat. We had a lovely, relaxing time and would love to stay again.

This is our second stay here and it was another great stay and time! Does not matter what the weather is or time of year…..this place makes you feel comfortable and cozy. We will be back…hopefully soon!

My wife and I were very impressed by the amount of care that went into making sure that guests felt welcomed by the host. There was a fully stocked coffee bar, some delicious treats for breakfast, and even some neat things in the fridge - none of which I was expecting, but all of which were appreciated. My wife mentioned multiple times how impressed she was by everything. In terms of the actual physical interior: everything was clean, easy to use or figure out, and comfortable. We would certainly recommend anyone visit - it was definitely a woodsy retreat!

I cannot say enough about how incredible our stay was. From the moment we drove up, walked down the charming path and saw it open to the forest, to every special touch outside and inside of this beautiful place, we loved it! We walked through the woods down to the beach, hot tubbed under the stars at night overlooked the forest, swung on the porch swing in the morning drinking our coffee and spent hours catching up inside. As many others have said, all of the special touches make this space such a gem. Walking in to a sweet welcome board, snacks and wine with chilled glasses, the morning breakfast, outdoor shower and claw foot tub….I truly can’t wait to rerun in the summer months. Truly one of the best places I have stayed. Thank you

Wonderful cottage like atmosphere! Beautiful inside and out. The sweet touches are everywhere! The snacks, continental breakfast, tea and coffee bar are so unexpected you feel spoiled! This is such a lovely retreat in the woods! We enjoyed the outdoor spa and all of the thoughtful touches throughout the space. A trip to the beach was fun too. I wish we’d stayed more than one night!

The Woodsy Retreat was everything we needed and more! Couldn't have asked for a better place to end our vacation. Only wish we had more time to spend there! Will definitely be back someday!!!

Everything was perfect. Host even presented a bottle of wine, a couple of beers, and a meat and cheese tray in the fridge, a homemade loaf of bread on the counter, along with a bunch of pastries and treats set out for snacking. My friends enjoyed that stuff a lot, but when I told her I was vegan and wouldnt be partaking, she went out the next morning and picked up some treats from a vegan bakery for me! Definitely the most hospitality I've seen from a VRBO host. Also, property is connected by a trail to a state park with a beach on the Nisqually Reach section of Pugent Sound...great for paddling and hiking! Last but not least, hot tub and outdoor shower for bathing under a starlit night sky was truly special!!!

The property was amazing and the grounds amazing!! Beautifully furnished and so clean and luxurious. The added treats from the host upon check in were a special treat! The host was so communicative and gracious. I loved my stay!!

All in all the place was everything we needed. Wi-fi was extremely slow but we didn’t spend much time there so it wasn’t a problem.

This property provided a nice, enjoyable get away into the Washington wilderness. The snacks & drinks provided by the host were delightful! The location was amazing, we made good use of the hot tub and fire pit; both were very relaxing and in great condition. Overall it was an excellent experience. The only note that prevented full 5 stars across the board was the description of the proximity of the host in the online listing. It’s not necessarily a negative element of the stay, but it would have been better to be aware of this after reading the listing. Nonetheless, I would definitely return to the woodsy retreat and highly recommend it to anyone.

The property was very well kept and clean. It was a wooded oasis with a nature spa vibe. The extra snacks, drinks, robes, and slippers were a super surprise and very much appreciated! The place is attached to the owner's house, which isn't quite clear in the description. We enjoyed a short hike down to the Tolmie State Park as too. Very nice, relaxing, weekend.

We loved our few days in Olympia. The place was so clean and comfortable. The extras that Danica provided (homemade bread, muffins, cheese, candy, drinks) were greatly appreciated so that we didn’t have to make a trip to the store. The state park behind the home is beautiful and we enjoyed the hiking trail to the beach. The only thing we misinterpreted was that the second bathroom is outdoors. It wasn’t an issue for us, just didn’t read that part closely in the information. Again it was a beautiful place and we would highly recommend it to anyone. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Absolutely Fantastic! Woodsey retreat went above and beyond! The forest trail is wonderful the hot tub is amazing! We had chilled wine glasses, baked pastries, cookies and all kinds of snacks to munch, cozy robes and slippers, comfy beds, a little peace of hevan. Will return again in the future!

We were so excited to provide a lovely retreat for our daughter's wedding bower. We thought to rent it so she could get ready there and relax before the wedding at our house in Olympia. When we attempted to get into the property, the code was wrong, and there was no internet because the property is far away from town, so I couldn't email Danica and get in easily. Being that we are not a family with a lot of money (we saved up to afford this place, and it IS beautiful) and only one car, we only had the one shot to drop her off before meeting the person with the flowers and get back to prepare for the ceremony. Danica reached us, but there was nothing we could do at that point, so we didn't drop off the B and G until after the wedding, nearly midnight. We left them to enjoy the space and sleep, knowing they would be getting on the plane the next day, and we would have one chance to see them for breakfast. We picked them up early at their request, so they would have time to go back to the space and enjoy the spa before leaving at 11am. We got a message saying that they went in early bc they didn't see a car! They messaged that they didn't like that they used extra blankets from a cabinet, even though their handbook SAID to get them from there, and that we owed them another $180 because the lock on the cabinet was broken. I got the blankets out MYSELF the night before- the cabinet door was unlocked and I certianly did not force it! The total was over $544 for 7hrs of sleep...

Two tired working moms were able to enjoy catching up while laying in the lawn chairs under a canopy of trees, soaking in the hotub and out door tub before sleeping in a bedroom of all white with little ferry lights above. The snacks and nummies were fit for a queen as well. Thank you for helping us to recharge and enjoy some indulgence.

This property was so lovely and secluded, just like the description. Danica’s special touches that she prepped and planned for us were so thoughtful, it made us feel right at home! We had a great conversation with her upon leaving, learning more about her travels, writings and she let us see her homemade outdoor bread oven! #culinarylife the trail leading to the park was like walking through Jurassic Park, I swear - it was incredible! Overall we had a great stay and would recommend this place for a memorable vacation!
